I've seen Elvin Bishop at least a dozen times........ and the one thing you can always count on is that you feel better when you leave the show than when you came in......guaranteed!
So true Duff! I saw him and Bloomfield play East West with Butter in 1966-67 and it was a great show. Truly innovative music. Elvin is truly one of the great American guitarists. He always puts on a good show.
Saw Elvin with Heart and Tommy Bolin right before he died on Nov 5, 1976, at Winterland. One of my greatest concerts to see. Elvin put on a show you would not soon forget. ---MO
I was 14, hit of sugar cube, half pint of Southern Comfort, with all my friends, we saw Elvin opened for ZZ TOP, Tejas ,tour..AWESOME! I saw him again in the early 80s, no acid, still amazing..LOL! this is a great video, I will like it..
First saw him with the Butter band in the latter sixties. Then in the eighties in San Antonio. Now in videos only. Elvin has given me much joy throughout the years. Sure wish I'd see him live one more time.
Never saw this recording until today! Love it! I knew he was good but forgot about him and the band for too long! One of the best concerts I've ever seen ... in a bar ... in Lubbock, Texas! It was great! That's living!
El came into Brassy's nightclub cocoa beach fl.one night in the 90's a bit late and on crutches. I said, nope no show tonight... well I'm tellin' you he played his ass off sitting in a metal folding chair. Talk about go break a leg, dedication and all that.. Man that cat played no stint, no holdin' back long and hard. What a performer!
Saw Elvin in 2016. He made a rare tour stop in the northeast. Great great show. Sat 2nd row center stage. Only downer was we were nearly killed in a head on on the way home. We survived and recovered though. First time I saw him was at the Music Inn in Lenox MA way back in 1974. He was touring the Let It Flow album. He opened for the Marshall Tucker Band. Both bands got on stage and jammed together for a long time. It was wild.
About whoever Wavygr is and his/her statement about Elvin's looks and that "he would never make it today because of his looks", I've got news for you. Elvin Bishop has already made it - looks or no looks. Elvin was rockin' with the best of them when most of the rest of us were in diapers, and he still is. Rock-on Elvin. All those other jealous jerks out ther can kiss Elvin's ass!
Well. When I was a teen in the 70s he was hot and he still is. We all thought so and still do. It's the eyes. The happiness in them. His positive attitude. His hair. His arms his classic Roman nose. He's fit. He's fine.
What a great lively concert - these boys were fun to watch cause they love what they do. The sax player really gets after it & so good! Thanks for uploading this rare find and sharing it with us here - good to see Elvin alive and well
For the edification of those who don’t want to wait until the closing credits but still want to know what songs were played by Elvin Bishop and his fine band, here they are: STEALIN’ WATERMELONS HONEST I DO BEER DRINKIN’ WOMAN WALK RIGHT IN (sung by Daddy Ray) L-BO FANNIE MAE This gig was aired in 1991 on Japanese television, and the viewers there were introduced to a bouillabaisse of blues, rock and roll, country, and even a little bit of jazz. In other words, Elvin Bishop music.
ONE OF HIS VERY BEST LIVE PERFORMANCE -- WATERMELONS,PLUS MANY CREDITS GOES TO HIS TEAM MEMBERS FOR EXCELLENT HARMONIZATION - 19.01.1969 REMEMBERS BISHOPS LEGACY....ROCKS! WITH BEST REGARDS FROM ,BRONX,QUEENS,LONG ISLAND N.Y. AND HAMBURG,GERMANY -- ;-)
Last time I saw The Elvin Bishop Group was at the Fillmore East in March 1971. Great Show!!! Jo Baker was singing with Elvin and the background vocals were The Pointer Sisters. The Bill was shared with Johnny Winter And. The Allman Bros were the headliners. Elvin was supposed to do a whole set with the Allmans but there was a bomb scare and "we" all had to leave the auditorium. When we came back in and got seated Elvin came out and explained that Johnny Winter demanded to go on so Elvin called out Duane and Dickey and the three of them jammed some blues. A truly memorable show. Too bad Johnny Winter acted like such an asshole. The Allmans played till the sun came up. I went home wishing Elvin's Show hadn't been shortened. I had the pleasure of seeing Paul Butterfield at the Fillmore East so Elvin was no stranger to me.
Daddy Ray was the best...lots of fun. We spent time together in the late 80s and I had fun on the road with EB band a few times God Bless Ray and is lovely Mom & Dad. He loved his family very much.
I'd love to know the approximate date on this. Only (almost) once saw the Elvin Bishop Band live. In 1983, I was staying overnight with friends in the village. Walked over to the Lone Star Cafe. Bishop's band was laying it down, but I was broke. Stood outside the fire door in the winter cold for at least an hour, loving every minute. This incarnation of his lineup sounds most like the band I heard that night. So funky!
I sure bet Elvin didn't use METH to achieve his greatness, and, I agree... a stupid comparison. gifted humans are all great and should appreciated by idiots like you, and me!
I've seen Elvin Bishop at least a dozen times........ and the one thing you can always count on is that you feel better when you leave the show than when you came in......guaranteed!
What more could one ask for?

I could listen to this every day.
I do
Elvin Bishop is one of the very few people I'd leave the comfort of home for and drive 2 hours round trip to see. World Class Show.
Where's Mickey Thomas?
Saw Elvin with Heart and Tommy Bolin right before he died on Nov 5, 1976, at Winterland. One of my greatest concerts to see. Elvin put on a show you would not soon forget. ---MO
Elvin Bishop is a fantastic, blues guitar 🎸 player extraordinaire!!!
How is the audience not on their feet? Wooooooooooooh!!!!!! When your backing band is THAT good, you CAN'T not feel it!
Fantastic Trombone Solo... hardly ever hear this anywhere today. Keyboardist was jammin... love Elvin... one of my faves!!!
Elvin Bishop, the greatest blues singer/guitarist alive! His live performances are always uniques.
First saw him with the Butter band in the latter sixties. Then in the eighties in San Antonio. Now in videos only. Elvin has given me much joy throughout the years. Sure wish I'd see him live one more time.
Elvin is the one you least suspect to bring the funk but is usually the funkiest cat in the room. 💥
Very very nice! Loved Elvin since the early 70's
I saw Elvin and his band at a small town alley festival, it was one of the best live performances I ve ever seen.
Why hasn't there been a video of Elvin's acceptance into the RRHOF, as part of the Butterfield Blues Band, on TH-cam?
You never saw him
I wanna hear Elvin Bishop
Fooled around and fell in love
@@johnmcnally5307 uh there was one.
First heard of Elvin Bishop Band when they opened up for the Allman Brothers at the Fillmore East 1971 been a fan ever since
Never saw this recording until today! Love it! I knew he was good but forgot about him and the band for too long! One of the best concerts I've ever seen ... in a bar ... in Lubbock, Texas! It was great! That's living!

Excellent. I only wish there were more early vids of Elvin where he was kicking with the Chicago style bands. His playing is so authentic.
Saw Elvin in 2016. He made a rare tour stop in the northeast. Great great show. Sat 2nd row center stage. Only downer was we were nearly killed in a head on on the way home. Baddest boogie guitar on the planet. Elvin layin' it down.
Elvin Bishop has always reminded me of Harpo Marx. Love both of em.
Crabshaw don't care.
What a band! And EB is 🔥

wonder if they said that about harpo too?
Not only has he made it he is still making it.

@@Teresia12
It is better to look good than to play good.
Teresia Diane yeah, I definitely thought he was sexy and cute.
I wish the credits were posted. This band is tight as hell.
The best Elvin Bishop video I've ever seen!
Sure miss Daddy Reynaldo Arvizu. Rock'n my Soul for 40 years. Thanks Elvin
Daddy Ray was a fun guy and a hella of a sax man. Miss him too.
What a great lively concert - these boys were fun to watch cause they love what they do. The sax player really gets after it & so good! Thanks for uploading this rare find and sharing it with us here - good to see Elvin alive and well

"party till the cows come home" Elvin!
Bottom Line was THE BOMB! Saw too many great shows there.

Daddy Ray ARVIZU on sax.
God bless Daddy Ray

Pigboy still jumps, his axe is sharp as ever
This band is fabulous!!
Back when Music was Music!
He makes even better music today and so do many many others.
Now this is the STUFF!! Thanks for sharing!! *-)

If you watch the video, it will tell you the exact date.
Yes, I saw. Elvin 2x in the Lone Star Cafe. Two great shows.
Should have asked Elvin to let you in. Knowing him, I'd bet he would have!
Everyone of these guys is on fire!
I like that keyboard player alright. I like this band combo!
Never really focused on them - but now that you mention it - Agreed - Awesome
the horns on this are killer!
that's Daddy Ray! He puts some stank on that sax...specially starting 29:27
Also Ed Early on T-Bone
I love how the audience is really enjoying the session by my cuz Big Daddy Ray!
Great, thanks for sharing!
I am a Gibson man and love yours! Wish I had your chops. Keep on keeping fellow Okie. Love your stuff. Wish you and JJ would've collaborated.
Dude is Bad! Saw him in Lincold Montana'79 best concert ever!
I could see me there dancing and moving.. :)
This is HOT! Love the song at approx. 20 mins.
Very talented
Always gives the other musicians lots of solos.
Ed Early!!
🔥🙏🔥🙏🔥
Awesome trombone solo
Always good
Old Red Dog
Elvin Bishop @ The Bottom Line in New York City "Stealin' Watermelons" Full Show
E B at his greatest!!
great!
Great live concert - I loved that opening number, "Stealing Watermelons" - anybody know who that saxophone player is? He really cooks
Daddy Ray ARVIZU
Piggyboy Crabshaw, sounds like the live performances are from Juke joint jump and maybe let it flow time period. Peace
Sound quality/volume low. Somehow I can't get it loud enough on my PC!
Funk it!...
easy money... ha ha ha.
Name of the song at 21:00 please ?
The Walkin'Blues
Actually it was “Walk Right In”.
Granny's bathwater
Elvin was just ALMOST as good as Stevie Ray,. but not quite.
Stupid comparison.
Different act, although blues based. Apples to oranges, pointless comparison, except who played guitar with more intensity. SRV could do that.
I sure bet Elvin didn't use METH to achieve his greatness, and, I agree... a stupid comparison. gifted humans are all great and should appreciated by idiots like you, and me!
Like his comedy but the horns ruins his songs.
Prime, Grade A, ELVIN BISHOP! Fuck Yea!
