      Hi there fellow 8b gardener! That’s wonderful that your garden is going on its second year! Mine is on its fifth. I remember the second year when things were still rather small but watch out because plants grow fast. Soon they’ll fill up their space :)
      Are you growing flowers or vegetables or perhaps both? Happy gardening!! 🌿🌸🪴🌹

      Thank you 😊 They are my savior in winter. I don’t think I can go without having camellias to look out onto as long as I live in this zone.

    Just got to admire your passion with gardening. Lots of patience is required to understand nature. Anything that has to do with the Survivability of a life form is a complex related field , Flora&Fauna , Plants&Animals etc.
    We are just lucky plants aren't communicative with speech, even if we killed them they don't express any dismay. but it is our responsibility to be nurturing of nature as it is a part of our lives.
    You might want to create natural bigger plants at garden to secure ur plants under those bigger sized plants. just like humans are social animals. plants are also mutual among plants. hence it's only natural if the small are protected by bigger plants. the effect of mutualism and cohabitation of multitude species of life in a jungle is the reason plants are thriving.

    I planted two Nandina’s here in NY. They don’t look too good. Not sure if its winter damage. Hopefully they will rejuvenate when weather perks up.

      Funny story, I bought 4 of these at the same time. At first I planted all 4 together in a row. Then it turned out the only the two on the ends were growing tall and looking nice. So I moved the two in the middle to somewhere else and they were still taking so slow to grow and thrive. I take care of them the exact same way in terms of watering and fertilizing. I can’t figure out for the life of me why. I might do a comparison video later. It’s kind of strange. All 4 were purchased from the same nursery at the same time. So maybe yours are just taking there sweet time to develop roots like my other two? They’re not dead or anything though, just not as tall and as full as the two I showed in this video 🤷‍♀️

    Thanks 🙏

      Hi! Thank you ☺️ Most .. maybe even all of my camellias are from a company called Monrovia. You can order directly from their website but you’ll have to pay for shipping. If you have a Lowes’ or Home Depot nearby, I recommend going there in the winter months. Their garden center might look closed but it’s actually open and if you’re lucky, you’ll see these! Grab them fast though because they sell very quickly, especially in my area. They don’t come by often and when they do, they usually have maybe a dozen or two on the shelves.
      Monrovia is one of the best. I’ve never had a bad experience from them.

      @Linasgardens  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi! I totally understand your worries. I am the same way when it comes to my camellias. Those little buds are so precious!
      I’ve never heard or known anyone in person that grows camellias successfully inside, but that’s not to say that it can’t be done, I just don’t know.
      Keep in mind that camellias need the cold to flower. If you bring it indoors, it shouldn’t be more than a week or they’ll start to suffer I think. You can try to protect the buds outside by wrapping the tree up with burlap or some type of cover until bad weather passes.
      If you’ve done all you can, all that’s left to do is hope and pray haha. And enjoy the surviving buds and flowers. Best of luck!

    I’m In NWI what zone are you in to be able to plant these beautiful plants?

    • @Linasgardens
      @Linasgardens  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’m in zone 8b in PNW. I’ve driven by homes in my area with huge camellia shrubs out front so I think it’s a safe zone to grow although young ones like mine, especially when grown in containers, probably need more protection when temps dip below freezing. If you see your local garden centers carry these, there’s a good chance you can grow them 👍
