    Tinman! Thanks for the good footage! Even these silly auction saws are the coolest ever! Just because most guys have this size saw and what happened to these is basically what has happened to all of them out there just from being used and years of good service, and no one is to blame. And then, you show some guys some guidance on how to make them run and what "could" have cause the issue. Some people who just don't know can make head or tales of what is going on in a saw, but by your videos and Ironhorse and BBR and DJ etc... Plus, all of you make it that much safer by removing the frustration factor of a dull chain or other problem, that can distract from the experience or 'situational awareness' that takes place in a person when trying to get the job done.

    Traded for a 2100 off of a guy who had gotten some saws from an estate sale. It felt like compression was good and it fired up and sounded ok but once home the muffler came off and sure enough the piston was pretty badly scored. The saw went back and I got mine back. Just because they feel good Dosent mean they are good. Takes a second to yank the exhaust off and take a look inside so well worth to do so.
    Keep up the great videos.

    It's only the last couple of years that I started getting into saws. I have always had my dads stihl009l around but during covid I started out buying a whole bunch of poulan bubblesaws. 3314s 3816s, 4018s etc. Then I got into the old micros. I like their aesthetic but what an inconvenience to work on. Eventually I got a Stihl ms250 that was badly cooked. I rebuilt it with Chinese parts and still put too much into it but it was a great learning experience. Now I have an ms260 that was badly abused. Oddly enough the piston and cylinder were okay but everything fuel related was crispy. the bearings were shot. Mainly because of the poly baler twine wrapped in the clutch. it also need a filter cover and a few other things. Once again built with farmertec parts because I am a broke ass. something that I have noticed along the way was that the bubblesaw crowd within the chainsaw community was the most supportive and positive overall. They know they are low cost junk and embrace that. The typical brand hoor race saw types make it very difficult to ask basic questions about practical solutions. That is why I love this channel so much. No b.s.

    Love your analogy of the 550xp.
    Husky built a ported saw for the public. 4 HP, 10,200 rpm. When I bought one, dealer read me the rules. DO NOT RUN A DULL CHAIN ON THIS SAW. He had a piston on the counter from a blown up 550.
    Literally melted, couldn't see the ring on the exhaust side. He said, guys are blowing these up left and right, because they don't know!
    No warranty coverage! Deemed to be operator fault. The narrow kerf .325 chain dulls pretty quick. The X-CUT chain is semi chisel, doesn't help matters much. Keeps on cutting when dull. Full chisel just quits cutting. Can't even use the dull chain override feature. Haha.

    YES please plug that 550xp saw in at the dealer and find out how many hours are on that saw. I have a 550xp mine runs great since I bought it new around 2016. I probably have like 30 hours on my saw still pretty much brand new. I Run a sharp chain and use good oil. I hear people say bad things about the 550xp, that I thought about buying a 550xp Mark II for back up just in case my 550xp crashes. The Mark II i do like, more hp - .25hp and the Air Filter is better.

    I'm all for porting your saw if you want to, but I never needed one in my days of firewood or landscaping and nothing in my area needed more than my stock MS460. I got a very cheap Stihl saw one time for parts and the piston actually had the whole front melted off, like from a detonation. The cylinder, unbelievably was perfectly fine with just slight transfer removal!

  • @joukoollikainen3568
    @joukoollikainen3568 27 วันที่ผ่านมา

    MS261 has durable surface in the original cylinder. I think you can get away with a new piston and rings. I had one with the pistonskirt worn trough, cylinder was still like new.

    I bought an old poulan for $25. Had all kinds of compression. Thought it was a runner then I pulled the muffler and it looked a lot like your 261. Used the rim sprocket, recoil, good carb, and air filter off it. Got my money’s worth. Poulan 3300 if your wondering but like yours, it thumped when pulled over
