Thank you for continuing to honor Cory and the family in the way you have. As his brother, it was really special to see the video come together. I can't wait to make it out to California to make more memories just like he would've. Love you dude 🖤
Really special stuff, Mike. I lost a great friend a few years ago who was my racing buddy. We are both old, I'm 74 now, but while we were younger I helped him build a round taillight 2002 that won a BMWCCA Club Racing class national championship. We took that car to Bonneville Speedweek in 2007-8-9 to set a world's fastest BMW 2002 unofficial speed record of 131.7mph. My friend and I towed his and my fully track prepped 93 RX7 from Houston to Mosport, Mont Tremblant, Watkins Glen and every track in between for years before the Bonneville chapter. Losing him to cancer 4 years ago was the end of our adventures. He left a wife and daughter behind along with hundreds of track friends. So, I GET your project and will enjoy your celebration of your friend.
Quite possibly THE BEST StanceWorks video yet. Mike you are a fantastic story teller and this build is truly the definition of 'special'. So looking forward to seeing the progress and I hope it brings you wonderful memories of your friend.
As an e30 nut, I’m stoked that you are carrying on Cory’s legacy. Can’t wait to see the outcome. I know he’s looking over the project and couldn’t be more proud.
Brother…. The storytelling-but most importantly-the earnestness, is why you’re definitely the next Gears and Gasoline. Keep up the AMAZING work, we’re all rooting for you… matter of time.
Part of me would like to say "man, that's exactly how I would built an e30" but in a vacuum... I don't know if that would happen. The reality is that my taste in modified cars was mostly formed by following you and Rusty since the beginning of Stanceworks! Thanks Mike! Keep doing this!
Stories like this are exactly why I’ll never by a brand new car again. Despite the financial benefits, I love a car with a story and a history all its own. Every mile and imperfection tells a tale, and especially when it elicits those great memories, you just can’t beat that connection. Keep on doing the lord’s work and hats off to Cory🤘🏻🏎️❤️
As an obvious huge e30 fan, I’m beyond thrilled for all the e30 content. Also thank you for honoring Cory and showing some humanity in this build. Bravo @mike
Also, if it’s ok to say, I’d love to see the red trim around the headlight remain. There’s something special to them. And that patina on the alpine inner portion of the wheels is so nice. It’ll be a shame to see it gone but I can’t wait to see where you take this build And the chance to see this race with Cory’s car
Dude, this car is definitely one of the most special cars out there. You godda stop underselling yourself. This project is one of the best in the world. You are doing a terrific job Mike
Bro, unfortunately I know how it feels to dedicate a project to a special someone who has passed away. Please enjoy every second of it, if you feel tears coming up, let them run honouring him. If the project is finished one day, make sure you drive the car to a special or beautiful location, park it there, sit down, look at it, and think of him. Awesome how you do this and how you share it with us!
Didn't think it was possible for you to start a build I would be more invested in than the ferrari, but as someone who bought his first e30 20 years ago and rebuilt it with his brother and dad (she's still in the family,) I can fully relate to the emotional bonds that e30's can create. Incredible tribute to your friend, and if you guys ever cruise the e30's up to Ventura I would be stoked to meet up - keep an eye out for my white late model with surf racks! Can't wait to see where this goes, and as usual incredible content and thanks for sharing.
Man… struggling to type through the tears. I’ve been out of the car scene for a while and during that time, lost a best mate and had an almighty scare with my equiv Corey (luckily for us, he is still here). I also, just this week, bought an E30. So after following closely, the Ferrari build (up until you came to Aus), I find myself back on the channel… I knew about Corey… but man, this vid touched a nerve. Cars and the community/camaraderie that they can bring are, to those that it strikes, such an amazing catalyst to friendship and life. I’m glad I’m back and I feel so grateful at least one of my besties… the one I started my car journey on… is still here to share it. And we will make damn sure we remember the other one… with tall tales of our awesomeness, as we play around with our current cars. Thanks for the great content. I appreciate it!!!
I’m so excited for this! Cory was an amazing guy and was always a treat to work with. His ability to “customize” a car was second to none. Cory is the reason I have my E30.
Wow Mike!!! This was a really special episode!! I had a very similar E30 - it was my first BMW, and I'm still fond of the experience. I'm super touched by the friendship, the comradery, and the story you're telling with Cory's life, the cars, and the touching tribute to him and his legacy!!! Well done!!! Keep at it with the build and hell yes!!! we want to see the updates on the other cars as well. Looking forward to the video of you guys bombing up the PCH to the event!!!
I’m not crying, you’re crying. I’ve actually got a similar project on jack stands in my garage. A good friend from my car community in my 20s passed several years ago and I’m in the process of updating and restoring his daily driver to turn it into the dream he shared with me for what he wanted to create.
damn dawg, this hit me hard. when a friend passes it always tears me up as i lost my best friend when he turned 18 and i still 15+ years later still feel hopeless at times. glad to see your doing this car man.
So awesome. Hats off to you for keeping the spirit and memory alive of your buddy and his car. I have so much respect for what your doing I will never miss a minute of any E30 content. My son amd I have an 88 E30 325i bone stock that we are working on together and we will be waiting for your next vid with bated breath. God bless and wish you and his family all the best!!! Peace from Alberta Canada.
YÄÄS! ❤ best episode yet (and the others are great to start with) - Grass roots cars - Beloved friends’ homage - achieving unimportant but old goals like sub 2min run just because Clearly an episode that oozes of just simple car creation fun without anything pretentious about - just pure fun for the heck of it. Tree30 v.2.0 for the win. And yes, updates on the K24 swap e30 is a must. The e24? No that one’s taken.. the K30?
Mike, as much as I’m drooling over the ongoing Quattro build, I totally understand how special this E30 is to you after experiencing this video. You just keep making your channel better and better, and the way you explain things to us puts us not only in your head, but in your heart. Keep up the incredible work, and we’ll keep digging your stuff as you post it!
It’s awesome what you are doing. Honoring your best friend and all. Hope to see more of the e30 content as I’m building one of my own. Have a lot more to get done on my build and I will be definitely tuning in to see these project come to life. 💯
I freaking knew it after seeing the grill in the background of your last video. Really looking forward to this one! I'm in the middle of a track/restomod 325e build. Your work has been a huge inspiration on that project, can't wait to see how this turns out!
Amazing. The times I spent with Cory definitely left an impression that he was a special dude that could light up a room with his presence and energy. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to be part of something that means so much to you, and Cory's friends and family. Let's get to work!
Lovely sentiment and story about fellow car friends and family! Excited to see this...and I def want to see updates on that K24 swap e30! Honestly a dream of mine was to do a swap like this on an E30 or a 2002!
What a beautiful story - Thanks for sharing and putting this together - it brought on all the emotions. I didn't know Cory, but am very much looking forward to getting to know him as this build continues. May his spirit live on forever.
To this day I still find myself browsing the internet for a 3rd gen Accord sedan simply because of your shoot on C-Hutch's car. This video shed some light on the mysterious man known as "The best damn Honda kid, period" Good luck with the build man, I'll be following along
really look forward to seeing how this comes out, at 8 mins in I started to feel that this was going to be a sad story. Really sorry for your loss there, but awesome that you are doing this tribute build. Looking forward to see it come to life
This is a great tribute to your friend. I recently lost one of my best friends, not to death or illness but to life. I was visiting him when I had a family emergency and had to return to my home in Pittsburgh from Detroit. But my friend couldn't handle that, I learned just how self centered he is. In his eyes, I should have stayed in Detroit, and not been there for my family in a time of need. Sucks to loose someone I considered a brother.
Man, this was really awesome. I’m so excited for this build. Corey was the first of out of the group to bring me in. Always the funniest dude are and loved and missed greatly.
What makes a car special is one that you built your self and every part that is in it is exactly what you wanted to put in it and it turns out working the way you wanted or you worked your ass off all day to earn the money to pay somebody else to put those parts in. That’s what makes a good car when you look at it and you honestly feel love for it and can’t help but to treat it as though it has feelings
I daily-drove a 1987 325e manual for nine years, steadily refurbishing and carefully modifying it along the the way. The Eta engine's low-end grunt (it had considerably more torque, at lower RPM, than the higher-revving 2.5) was perfect for normal driving in the twisting hills and mountains of northern Georgia. Fantastic little car. If you happen to have an e30, do yourself a favor and install both front _and_ rear strut-tower braces.
I've been having trouble finishing my e30 project of 6 years, and I was planning on driving down to the e30 picnic this summer as well. Seeing you build a car so meaningful to you is incredibly refreshing, and is just the boost I need to get over the finish line. See you on the other side!
Man I've said this a few times but I have to say it again, I'm so glad I stumbled upon your channel almost two years ago, I love everything you've done so far and even I can feel through the screen and half the world away that this is a special project for you and I'm really excited to see the build come to fruition. Keep them coming!
Mike, this is wholesome. For me a car has a special meaning, seeing you sharing this or a sentiment alike, feels good! My heart broke for you, and Cory’s family, but you wanting to build the Cory30 in his memory, is as perfect as it gets, and the best homage on your best friend!
He sounds like a hell of a dude and I'd imagine he would be pretty thrilled to see all of this going on in his memory. I am super excited to see this build and all of its progress coming in the future. Your channel has very quickly become one of my top favorites and I absolutely love your workmanship on every build you put out!!!! Looking forward to all of the future content and wishing you nothing but success in all things moving forward Mike.
It's great to honor your friend, I am sure he is watching u from above smiling out of joy saying what a friend you were to him, building that E30 Will keep the memories you guys had together within you alive.. Please provide More content of the E30 with the k24 swap please..
Cory was a cool guy. I chatted with him a bunch when he got his E21. I think I was on my 4th one at that point. I'm just now hearing of his passing. My condolences to you Mike and the rest of his friends and family.
I'm sorry to hear about Cory. It's beautiful how someone can have such a wonderful and everlasting impact in our lives. That E30 will always have a very important meaning.
You're right Mike, this is incredibly special. Thank you for giving us a glimpse into the relationship you guys had, he seemed like an awesome dude. Can't wait to see you honor his legacy with this build, as long as it takes.
This is your MOST important project Mike - this is IT!!!! And yes, we want to know about all three e30's, as they progress!! Sorry lots of !! Planning an new e30 project myself - after selling some years ago my 1989 mtech 2 320 (was built as support DTM car in 1989, before being exported, then I bought it years later not knowing its background). I sold it years ago for another project car funding. Planning another 318/320 to repower with something more than a little spicy into it. All the best
we all have a "Cory" in our lives, in fact, Ive lost a few of them. They shape our lives as much as we shape theirs. I think back on the memories and while even after years I still get a massive lump in my throat, I also smile because I know theyd be stoked to see where Ive taken my life.
followed your channel because of your intricate work on the ferrarri, now you will start off an e30 build with the best of intentions and because of a very special reason... this is starting to become my favorite channel. thank you for doing this, this is what i needed to continue working on my e30... you are such an inspiration man.
Sorry for your loss. It sounds like Cory had a very positive impact on your life and one that still exists today. I’ve always loved the E30 but never owned one. I loved watching the works cars ripping it up in the BTCC! The E30 Touring was also the first estate car I connected with. Really looking forward to this project!
I swear somebody is cutting onions in my empty apartment... So sorry to learn of your loss, but so happy to see you're celebrating his life in such a manner.
Im sure Cory will be with you all the way in spirit on this project & i have no doubt you will make him proud, would be nice to get updates on the other e30's as well.
I don't think I've ever had that one friend like that. I'm sure a large part of it is that I enjoy my solitary life style for the most part. But when I hear stories like this, it makes me wish I wasn't the way I was. I've always enjoyed your builds. My favorite being the CSL after seeing it in person at Import Alliance years ago. Its been fun to watch your styles and creativity evolve, yet still reminds me of the glory days of the earlier 2000's in ways.
The time and effort that Cory put into the repaint of Darla told you that he loved that car. Next to Nelson, for me anyway, Darla was the the best looking car he ever built.
Love this, love the story, the sentiment and the build. But I have to ask about that M1 that is just casually chilling first in the parking lot and then in the back of your shop!!
Dear Mike, i knew about the loss of Cory but i wasn't aware of the cause at the time . On December 2022 i lost one of my best friends and a true car guy from the same disease. We have been working on several car projects for 10 years all our cars including turbo mk2 escort, kadett c, mk1 golf, anadol stc16, anadol a1 and our last project was a 55chevy hard top coupe which he was able to drive only one time before passing away. I will try to do the same and keep the memory of my friend by working on our unfinished projects. Thank you for great content .
Such a beautiful celebration of Cory's life & times with you. I've never met you nor Cory, but you like I, have a passion for things automotive. It's always a pleasure whenever your next video arrives. I was saddened to hear of Corey's passing & I still think of him from time to time. I have lost a few of my close car head friends over the years (I'm 54 now) & it'll never stop hurting. Always remember the happy, funny & downright silly times and it will inspire you to keep right on until the end of one project & on through the next. Chin up old chap! Love & best wishes to you & Cory's family. Cheers. Leigh.
Sooooo great! I had one of those for 15 years and absolutely loved it. It had to go for an E90 and a Z3. But I will always remember. Thank you for this video!!
I have followed you for a long time now and this by far is the single best episode you’ve put out. Thank you for this. RIP Cory, I hope you’re as proud of your friends as we all are. At the end of the day, no matter the make or the build we are all family.
I was always lurking on the forum back in high school around the time you met Cory. Your guy’s and the other regular’s builds played a huge part in my taste in cars and mods. Sad to hear about C-Hutch passing and my condolences go out to his family and friends ☹️
Mike, your tribute is the best way to honor your friend!🙏 Please keep us posted on your progress and that kswapped one too! Keep up the amazing work you do 🔥🤙
Thank you for continuing to honor Cory and the family in the way you have. As his brother, it was really special to see the video come together. I can't wait to make it out to California to make more memories just like he would've. Love you dude 🖤
Love you guys. This is killer. -(Garrett)
@user-vpl5sw3szx9p 🤣😂🤣😂
Sorry for your loss bro! Your brother sounded like a hell of a guy! What happened to the two original E30s??
Thanks so much for sharing your story too! It sounds like he had a wonderful run and wonderful people to remember him by.
Hi BB - I recall the RX7 and the salt flats ‘02. Both awesome cars.
This helps remind me that cars are replaceable but people aren't
This will be a great project and a great tribute, surely...
Quite possibly THE BEST StanceWorks video yet. Mike you are a fantastic story teller and this build is truly the definition of 'special'. So looking forward to seeing the progress and I hope it brings you wonderful memories of your friend.
Thanks, Rob. It's my favorite episode so far, and I'm glad you feel the same!
Yeah, this dudes script writing is equally good as his video editing and car builds.
All the feels Mike. Excited to watch this one come together for Cory!
Thanks Mike. Hope you’re well!
Was not prepared for that cry today. Cory always seemed like one of the best humans ever, stoked to see his legacy live on.
As an e30 nut, I’m stoked that you are carrying on Cory’s legacy. Can’t wait to see the outcome. I know he’s looking over the project and couldn’t be more proud.
I love the old beemers. So much heart and soul in these cars. They never get old. Timeless.
The things that connect us, the things that remind us, the things that DRIVE us....unique to each and every one of us. Thanks for sharing yours Mike!
There are lots of car channels that build cool cars. There are very few that build cool lives around cars. Looking forward to this one!
Thanks for sharing your Cory story. Having a friend like that is a rare gift. You do him honor.
Brother…. The storytelling-but most importantly-the earnestness, is why you’re definitely the next Gears and Gasoline.
Keep up the AMAZING work, we’re all rooting for you… matter of time.
Great way to honor your best friend. Way to go! Yes please keep us updated on the K swapped e30.
Part of me would like to say "man, that's exactly how I would built an e30" but in a vacuum... I don't know if that would happen. The reality is that my taste in modified cars was mostly formed by following you and Rusty since the beginning of Stanceworks!
Thanks Mike! Keep doing this!
Cory is a guy we all want as a friend, I can safely say we’re all sorry for your loss. Looking forward to this build 👍
Stories like this are exactly why I’ll never by a brand new car again. Despite the financial benefits, I love a car with a story and a history all its own. As an obvious huge e30 fan, I’m beyond thrilled for all the e30 content. Also thank you for honoring Cory and showing some humanity in this build. Bravo @mike
damn I knew where this was going but still cried a bit 😅
looking forward to all the builds in 2023, this channel feeds my inner builder
Also, if it’s ok to say, I’d love to see the red trim around the headlight remain. There’s something special to them. And that patina on the alpine inner portion of the wheels is so nice. It’ll be a shame to see it gone but I can’t wait to see where you take this build
And the chance to see this race with Cory’s car
I’m not crying ... you’re crying. Such a fitting tribute for someone who sounds like everything a friend should be
Dude, this car is definitely one of the most special cars out there. You godda stop underselling yourself. This project is one of the best in the world. You are doing a terrific job Mike
Love these types of builds just as much as the full custom ones. The story behind it makes it that much better.
Bro, unfortunately I know how it feels to dedicate a project to a special someone who has passed away. Please enjoy every second of it, if you feel tears coming up, let them run honouring him. 3:30 that angle grinder spark photo is absolutely awesome
Nothing but love here.

As an E30 owner I'm really excited for this series. Can't wait to follow along!
Every "Real Car Guy" fully understands and now really appreciates, I think, all of your builds even more. God bless your builds, you, and yours.

I appreciate this a ton! I’m glad you and your son enjoy it!
Show updates on all 3 please!! I had a 318i in college. Stoked you are doing this. RIP Corey!
YÄÄS! ❤ best episode yet (and the others are great to start with)
- Grass roots cars
- Beloved friends’ homage
- achieving unimportant but old goals like sub 2min run just because
Clearly an episode that oozes of just simple car creation fun without anything pretentious about - just pure fun for the heck of it. Tree30 v.2.0 for the win.
And yes, updates on the K24 swap e30 is a must. The e24? No that one’s taken.. the K30?
This channel keeps getting better and better. My heart is swelling, thank you Mike.
RIP Cory
What a great tribute! Can't wait to watch the progress. I'm sure he's watching from above and certainly approves.
Great episode and I am sure your buddy would smile from ear to ear about this. One hell of a tribute to him. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts about your best friend and his love for cars. I look forward to this tribute E30 build.
This hit me right in the feels. I miss Cory.
This was an absolute tear jerker, I’m full of excitement just for the e30 build but this is a real sentiment one.
It’s awesome what you are doing. Honoring your best friend and all. Hope to see more of the e30 content as I’m building one of my own. Have a lot more to get done on my build and I will be definitely tuning in to see these project come to life. 💯
"Just ignore the M1..." Love it. What a great tribute to your dear friend Cory.

A tip of my hat to you. What a sweet tribute to a man who is obviously a wonderful friend that you will never forget.
Sorry to hear you lost your best friend. 😢 I totally approve of this build to help you stay connected to Cory. Sounds like he was an awesome guy.
Lovely sentiment and story about fellow car friends and family! Excited to see this...and I def want to see updates on that K24 swap e30! Honestly a dream of mine was to do a swap like this on an E30 or a 2002!

Amazing tribute my guy. Life isn't all about cars but it brings some of our best friends to us. Keep it up man
Thanks for sharing this story Mike. I lost my lifelong best friend, also named Cory, last year. It’s amazing you’re able to offer this tribute.
really look forward to seeing how this comes out, at 8 mins in I started to feel that this was going to be a sad story. Really sorry for your loss there, but awesome that you are doing this tribute build. Looking forward to see it come to life

its cool to see your honoring a friend through a build like this! I'm excited to see what comes from it!
This video makes me want to build an E30 for Cory, too. I love this channel.

What an amazing tribute! The wheels could not be better. Wow!
honestly the whole story and everything gives me shivers! I'm excited to see this completed and the smile on your face during the process!
Made me cry. Can't wait to see this series. Friendship is truly a blessing and is the driving force in my life so I totally understand.
I met Cory at a few shows around Atlanta and he was always a super cool dude. Props for keeping his memory alive!
Your storytelling is on another level here. The heart and passion you recount the life of your friend is moving. What a great tribute!
Just amazing love what your doing in memory of your best friend this brought me to tears 💕
You honoring your friend Cory, like this, makes this video all the more special! Wonderful!
followed your channel because of your intricate work on the ferrarri, now you will start off an e30 build with the best of intentions and because of a very special reason... this is starting to become my favorite channel. thank you for doing this, this is what i needed to continue working on my e30... you are such an inspiration man.
I rarely comment on anything on youtube, but man... that's one hell of a special project and an incredible story about a best friend.
This is so beautifully done. Incredible job sharing his story and the idea behind your tribute. Cannot wait to see this thing finished.
I'm so sorry... this is why I love this channel.... the heart felt passion for all things that you share it with us...... and for that, Thank you....
Thanks for sharing. In the Porsche world they always say, "it's not the cars it the people." I find the saying truer every day. You have my love bro.
As much as I enjoy watching the Ferrari build this one has me hooked for all the right reasons. Good luck and please include updates on the trio.
Give us as much E30 content as you can.
LOVE this build and understand the reasons behind it, really looking forward to following this series / build.
Thank you so much for sharing the backstory and idea behind this build. What a perfect tribute car to boot. Looking forward to watching whats to come!
