Absolutely you should get it appraised. That way If you home catches fire or your home’s broke into you have that information for home owners insurance.

As far as "Walter" goes.. I would have him appraised.. add it to your homeowners insurance if he's costly.. 😊

I love older crocks and the one you found is beautiful. I also love the frame with the green/gray color matting. Maybe a little Art Nouveau? I think I'd want to know how old Walter is, but not to sell. It has that Rembrandt type coloring, though I know it is much younger. Great finds!!!

Really loved the places you and your Mom visited for your thrifting ‘spree’…So many unique items and excellent prices….I bet you could have bought more?!…but good to be choosy…and know what you want in your home…I remember the little side table from the guest room video…it was a ‘steal’…the iron lamp was great and I recall that candlestick you showed earlier too👍…those wall sconces are ‘the Best’….I’m sure you will find others to buy.. and the two you have will be a great detail in the entry way as you suggested…As you may remember, books are a ‘passion of mine…so always love to see them used in the way you do….beautiful as well as being literary history too. Knew that you would bring back some pottery and stoneware to add to your collections… the one with the interesting colour variations, looked as if it might be ‘Raku’ pottery…(wish you had shown the base of it…)…not an expert, but it had that look???….the lidded casserole/ serving dish and cover looked mid century period..which I seriously love!!…Buying with your ‘heart’ is the best way to go 👍👍….Art and lovely frames… another favourite of yours (and mine)..very pretty leaf detail on the one you chose…As for ‘Walter’…the back of paintings are the best indication of age/history in many cases…wish we could have seen the whole of the back….anyway…If you adore him… that’s enough…You are wise to take ‘stories’ with a large pinch of salt’….’He was still quite inexpensive…’ whatever the age…(hope he might be special)…Look forward to your next area of your home you tackle…. Yes, I totally could have spent all my money there, but like you said, trying to buy smart these days! The vintage books are just beautiful, I am not surprised a book lover like yourself feels that way too. I actually talked about the back of the canvas a bit and I totally messed up so I had to edit it out. 😔 The canvas is darker unlike the newer light canvases, which is another sign Walter could be quite an older piece! I have several pieces of pottery and the dark piece of pottery in your video looks to be a small butter churn. It’s missing the paddle and the lid. It’s a great piece!
The crock with the inner ring was used to preserve food. The top was sealed with a piece of cloth dipped in wax.
I like Walter best. I would have it appraised, just for for my own knowledge. Really like your channel.

I enjoy how you explain every piece. I'm more old English décor/ cottage core. Many of your pieces would go nice with vintage. My favorite was the serving casserole dish. Beautiful.

I think you should know if Walter is old and worth a lot because you can add him to your insurance and if something happens to him they can replace the money he could be worth. Loved your haul 💗

I loved everything! But I did love the round lamp that you didn't get. And the other lamp that looked like a milk jar, I just thrifted two of those. I'm going to try and cover them to look like cement vases. My brother has no faith that I can do that...but we shall see. LOL!
The painting has to be at least 400 years old. The ratan lamp is pure love!

You found something very special when you found 'Walter', Chelsea. It would be interesting to find out how old he is, but it can be pricey to have an appraisal done. Did you find a signature on the painting to use to research it?

I found some water color paintings and the artist seems to be really famous. I don’t know how to go about getting them looked at so I would love for you to do that and share.
Get Walter appraised. You never know…it could be so valuable that it may need to be insured if you’re not selling…☺️

The pottery piece you spent the most on is a butter churn. It’s missing the lid and the dash. Keep Walter out of direct or bright sunlight he will fade much faster.

That piece you weren't sure about looks like a churn. The rim looks like it could hold a wooden lid with the dasher in the middle of it.

Just fyi. Amazon sells taper candles (flickering flame with a timer) that would fit in those beautiful sconces. Love the haul and Walter. It would be a fun adventure to get an opinion as to the era & history surrounding the piece. Your call.🖼

I use Dr. Lori (also a TH-camr) when I need help. You can try to hop onto one of her live events or I think it’s like $49 for three verbal appraisals through her website. She’s my go to. Love your finds by the way!

I don't know if you know or not but you can buy taper candles that are buy luminara are they have a flame on them that look like a real flame has a timer that you just set the timer to go off and on at the same time that would be cool to go in there and you wouldn't have to keep taking the globe off and worried about burning the house down with the real candle

See how much Walter is worth for sure! Also what if you switched your lamp shades from the two lamps you bought? Just thought it might be really nice switched but also like it as is.
He is lovely . He is in poor condition which is sad but you saved him which is great. I do know it is hard to repair given his condition . But if anything a professional can tell you the age and I wished I could have seen the back that can tell a lot . Beautiful enjoy 💜
This haul is amazing! Walter is a gorgeous piece. It would be interesting to have it appraised. My hubby and I just saw on tv that a woman bought a piece of art at a Goodwill for $35 and it was worth $1.5 million. Imagine that!

What a great haul!!! The pottery you found is incredible and I can't believe how inexpensive it was! When I find pottery like that is usually at least double that so that is amazing! But I'm esssppppecially obsessed with that table you found, it's gorgeous! Oh and I love that you brought your momma along, I also go thrifting with my momma and it's the best! 😊 I'm so happy I found your channel! P.S. I bought a painting at a thrift store last year, I just happened to look up the gal who painted it, it auctioned in 2014 for 7000.00 I was shocked.

Hmm good question. That’s a hard one for me, because honestly I love him the way he is, even though there is damage. I think I’d maybe ask the expert some questions about that.
