I hear a lot of Elvin Jones in his playing. Very loose, relaxed approach and technique. Cymbals sound slightly like old Avedis from the 60s. Great musician!
Such a strange MIX. The drummer's speaking voices of each K demo are so much louder and more present than the Keropes.

+GSWCarr The teacher didn't say it have to be Zildjian. The teacher said to find a better cymbal, period....It could have been Istanbul, Sabian, Amedia, Soultone, whatever. Ulysses Owens Jr. here just picked Zildjian. And the rest is history...

+GSWCarr I see what you are talking about. Now, in your argument talking about how you don't need Zildjian to play "this music" at a high level, are you referring to the Jazz genre being "this music"?
+Anthony Alex Yeah, generally speaking. I mean, it's just product endorsement and I understand that he's gotta do it. I guess I just felt compelled to say something because that statement struck me as being so blatantly untrue. Don't get me wrong, I love Zildjians and I think Mr Owens is a fantastic drummer.... just felt that someone should point that out.
I both understand and respect that man. Thats whats up. How long have you been drumming?
