So I asked this astrology girl why she liked a boy in our class. He had a condition that caused his hair to fall out, and he had breathing problems. As an Asian girl,Zodiac believer are absolutely crazy in Asia. We have an entire game show involving zodiac signs. (Basically they invite a bunch of pop stars separated in teams by their zodiac sign). My country has a daily zodiac prediction show,where some middle aged man talks about how Jupiter and Mars colliding is somehow going to effect your date life….

I met a girl in my fifth-grade class going through what I call her "astrology phase". She had a notebook full of the traits and compatibility of all of the signs. Whenever she met someone, she would always ask when their birthday was. She's grown out of it now, thankfullly.

Yeah. I looked at my natal chart some years ago. There was quite a bit that applied to me, but also quite a bit that didn't. I saw it as a fun, general guide to my personality, but nothing to take seriously. I don't read daily horoscopes, I don't care about retrograde planets, etc.
It can be fun to dabble into sometimes, but I don't at all take it seriously like a lot of hardcore astrology fans do. Like if a guy is a jerk, I don't excuse that because of his zodiac sign.

(aphmau does suck she makes the goofiest ahh brain rotting content that will technically harm children because it effects the developing of their brain) and her whole friend group harassed me for not believing in zodiacs and for not liking aphmau and she death threatened me and told me to kill myself and then she said it was a joke and told me to take a joke. (i literally reported her multiple times and that was a year ago at january 5 2022)
also, second experience which isn't as bad: i literally got banned for a day for "harassment and bullying" for calling an astrology girl who was harassing me for not believing in zodiacs "goofy ahh" even though the astrology girl didn't get banned and she reported me. (that was december 2022 a few days before christmas)

As a 16 year old girl who actually had an “astrology phase” when I was 14-15, I 100% agree with you. These girls are actually a huge reason I gave up on astrology besides the fact that it’s a pseudoscience and the fact that it’s just fortune telling.
Yeah, when one of my elective teachers this year had us do it (she has a degree in psychology), it was honestly fun and accurate.
Except that test is fundamentally flawed and was exposed numerous times.

My whole personality is apparently defined by the day I was born? I remember in middle school how popular these where. I’m a guy and I used to get somewhat into astrology because my sister introduced it to me and it was intriguing to me at the time. We both don’t care about it anymore though. However, when I tried getting into the Astrology stuff years back, I did find myself trying to live my life based on what the Astrology sites said about my sign, which was Virgo. I now just live my life building my own character rather than letting these sites do it for me.
And speaking of the sites, I have noticed that traits they give for one sign is the same for another. They say Virgos are the most trustworthy signs, but then say the same for a Libra.
What’s also crazy is that most of these sites say that if you are, for example, a Taurus (an earth sign), you will be more compatible with another earth sign or water signs romantically, and less compatible with an air or fire sign. But hear this, I’ve known many people who had the worst time with someone with their supposed “most compatible signs” and having a good ol’ time with their “least compatible”. I mean I am an earth sign, but a lot of my friends are air and fire signs.
People use this “compatibility” to judge whether someone will be a good friend or partner to them based on their sign. And that itself is a toxic mindset. Astrology is not healthy, and it seems to be affecting people a lot poorly as time goes on.
Thank God I’ve stayed away from all that.
I had the same experience as you except I discovered astrology myself. I used to be crazy about it in 8th grade but now in college, I slowly starting to lose interest.

funny thing is if you've taken astronomy class, chances are you know that: there's actually 13 zodiac signs (Ophiuchus), but mf Babylonians liked having 12 constellations 'cause idfk, number discrimination or some shi lmao-instead of 13, so that alone completely ruins zodiacs. secondly, the Earth goes through "precession", where the Earth "wobbles". this leads to the North Pole pointing to a different star, so back in 3000 BC (Babylonian time babyyy), the North Pole was pointing to the star _Thuban_ instead of _Polaris._ (our current star)
basically, this means the stars/constellations "moved", so whatever was seen back 3000 BC is _completely_ different.

The only reason why people seem to “fit” their zodiac signs is because if they know what it is they will subconsciously try to be more like it.
Short story: in middle school, (8th grade) I once found out that a girl liked me. She first told her friend to tell me that she liked me. She couldn't tell me in person because she was shy which I understand. So after finding her and talking with her, she wanted to find my interests and shit and I was like well alr. So she starts saying her favorite activities, foods, etc. She brings up astrology and says what ever zodiac sign she was. I told her I don't really like zodiac signs so she wanted me to call her to do a buzz feed about zodiac signs with her. At the end, she got the zodiac sign she said she had and I got one like virgo. After that I started hanging out with her and even took her to the mall to get her 5 pair of shoes for her. (Costed alot) after a month and a half passes she comes up to me and says "hey I don't think we match." I was like wdym we don't match? Then she says, "I went on a website about zodiac signs and it said (what ever zodiac she had) and a virgo doesn't match and won't be great together. She then put her hand out to me and says friends as if she didn't just judge me off of a fucking website that said: oh your zodiac is this so you basically like this and that. So after the break up over a fucking shitty website she found I had gotten a new gf, she sees me and starts to get jealous and try to say: hey I was kinda wrong about our zodiac signs and we should go back to dating. I said I'm good and I already have a girlfriend. Plus she doesn't put her life based on what a website tells her. After that she gets mad and just walks away. To this day, I would love to go to girls in my school that believe in zodiac signs and through eggs and little stink bombs at their house.

I remember I legit got emotional while reading a prediction chart expecting magical spirits to make good things happen without doing anything productive. I remember being friends with an Astrology girl in college.
She used to follow the Lucky Numbers, Colours thing as well. She used to carry as many rubber bands, hair bands, scrunchies as the lucky number of the day.
I’m a Virgo, and she was a Virgo too. I don’t really believe in horoscopes, but I generally like hanging out with fellow Virgo’s (I think they just happen to be really chill yet deep).
We hit it off well enough.
I started to develop a likeness to her. It wasn’t romantic or love, but I was getting there.
She used to pursue me much openly. I told her I don’t believe in zodiacs, but wouldn’t pressure her to drop it either. She was accepting of it, even going so far to promise me she won’t go overboard with her beliefs.
Free a while, I noticed she started feeling down.
I asked her if she was okay, and she confronted me. She asked me why I can’t fall in love with her. I explained that human emotions can’t be rushed. It will happen when it will. But I assured her that I want to be exclusive to her.
She literally told me that she only has time till “x months” to get married to a Virgo.
I reminded her again that love can’t be rushed.
She leaned over me and told me we belong to each other.

I think the increasing popularity of astrology is due to the decreasing popularity of religions. Most people have the need to believe in something, but Christianity (for example) supports values that are no longer appealing to young people. The values of today's young people differ from those which religions promote, so people stop being religious. Still, they need to believe in something, have something that gives them comfort spiritually, and that's why they resort to astrology, which is not a religion in and of itself, so you aren't attached to any set of values, but it makes you feel powerful and part of something bigger. It gives people some sort of spiritual life. I don't blame them, but they should recognize the fact that astrology does not meet the epistemological requirements to be a science, which shows that it has no real predicting power.
