I have a momarsh that I mainly use for solo open water diver hunting. Your review is spot on, after 8 seasons of use I can say there is definitely room for improvement. FYI for anyone thinking of using the momarsh in open water…be aware of the weather or wind. These boats are not made to handle waves!!

just sangged a refuge runner off marketplace for $400 in mint condition. Starting the build to run it this season with my new pup. Super amped for that!

Ayee I just had someone grab me a refuge runner in awesome shape for 450! Extra hundred then went to 3 bags of decoys one of which is geese, looks like half shell ones. An old mojo and some mallards with a trolling motor. 550 for everything. Sounds like it's around 15 years old or so but pretty pleased with the deal

I’ve been hunting from 4 Rivers Refuge Runner boats for close to 20 years, and I believe they are the best fiberglass layout boats on the market.

While I agree it's hard to beat a 4 Rivers Refuge Runner in the fiberglass market, once you go aluminum you never go back! Glad to see you're still tickin', Troy! ~ Shawn L.

Have you tried the EBADS? I have two refuge runners, and the back end really sags in the water once I put a 7HP longtail on it. I would stand as far forward as I could and put as much weight in the front of the boat as I could, but it still would plow along. The motor runs like a scalded ape on an aluminum V bottom boat, so I know it's an issue with sitting down in the water and not on top of it. My old lab was a big dog (95 lbs at his fighting weight), and he would be pretty much sitting in the water on the back deck. I feel like the EBADS might keep the back end up, and sit higher in the water to keep the boat level. I haven't hunted layouts in years, but we used to run them all the time at Grand Pass. My refuge runner did the trick, but I wish it was a bit lighter and drafted less so it would skid along the surface instead of plowing. Bonus trivia: When both companies started over 20 years ago, Tom, the owner of Four Rivers, used to make the Momarsh boats as well as his Four Rivers boats from his shop in Highlandville, MO.
The main reason we stopped hunting layouts is because the ducks started getting smart to them. In the beginning, they would literally land between the boats. Then they started picking them out the way geese can spot layout blinds now. So we started taking the big boat in and hunting Invisiman blinds.

Is this 2023 hunts or 2022 hunts? Confused on how you can be hunting in 2023?

Am I missing something? I though we weren’t doing this kind of content?

He did say was taking a break from doing hunting videos. I'm thinking these from last year. As it's too early to be hunting for 2023.
