This particular parable that Jesus Christ told speaks about talents. A wealthy man decides to go to a trip and that he'll be gone for a while but before he leaves he gathered his 3 servants and gave them talents, which represents money. The 1 servants has 5 talents and doubled it with another 5 because he did bussiness, so is the 2 servant who got 2 talents and multiplied it with another 2. While the 3 servant hid his 1 talent, he buried it deep beneath the groung because he was afraid of his master. When the master came back, he was happy about the 2 servants because they greatly took care of the talents he gave to them. And ofcourse he was mad because the 3 servant didn't do anything about the talent he gave to him. The point of this parable is, God given us all talents. It could singing, drawing, writing, sports, whatever it is. He wants us to use it for His glory, He wants us to grow in those God-given talents because if we use it in His will... you'll surely be abundant.

It doesn't matter how much me have received but the thing is if we are faithful servants of the Lord we will use whatever we have received to share it to others. My class loved this when I used it in RE when learning about the parable of the talents. It really engaged them and afterwards they went off making bags of money and using their talents!

no..God puts his "deposit" or "investment" of his spirit in you,,and at the end he expect a "full return on his deposit/investment". He will take back what is rightfully his, and unless you multiply/invest what he has empowered you, anything that is not "conformed" to the image/likeness of Christ will be "cast out". Grow your investment and in doing so, you are "conforming" to the image likeness of Christ by being spiritually "fruitful and multiplying". And that of your soul which is conformed to Christ will be saved/preserved.
God will use whomever God pleases to build His Kingdom. When I perform on the subways rappin I make sure I say that a young rapper died in a car accident cuz he was drinking with his buddies after being signed onto a record label. This parable is primarily about faithfulness not the increase. All three were given large sums of money. Even 1 talent would be approx. 30K in today's money. The point of the parable is to be faithful with what God has given

yes,,he puts his "spirit" in us (which is like the talents). This is his "deposit" or "investment" in us that should motivate us to win others to the lord and grow in the spirit. At the end he will expect his "deposit" and "investment" paid back(in full)….and if we don't "grow" as a result of this investment, we will have nothing left worthy of redemption This is actually a "blend"of Calvinism and Arminianism. We are "once saved,always saved" as we are sealed with the investment in Gods spirit. But anything not conforming to the image/likeness of Christ will have to be "cast out". Hence why its important to grow our talents so that we have something left to redeem!
So those of us who've been preached to about how harsh God can be will be punished for being brought up that way? That MIGHT be okay if those preachers who portrayed God that way would be punished alongside us, but there's no guarantee of that, is there?
The point of the parable is not the literal meaning. Jesus gave us parables because they were symbolic of spiritual things. Although, the foolish will see it with a hard heart and turn away.

Can someone help? I had a strong passion for competitive gaming, but it became an idol and just a mess. I felt convicted by God that this was not really doing good, and I ignored that. Later on after the game was taking a toll on me because I cared too much about winning and stuff like that, I felt God convicting me again and I quit, broke the game disc even. It has been close to a month since I have quit, it has been good for me and my relationship with God, but I still have a desire to play, I feel like there's a talent here. It is the only thing I've done that I have been passionate about really, and I think it could be a great field for God's glory. I feel like if I try to go back though that I will just idolize it again, but I can't help but think of what could be if I do not. There are so many people I interact with daily through the game, and so many opportunities for God's glory. I don't know if God wants me here though, I just don't know. For the past month, with the exception of a short vacation and friends, I have done nothing. I have been staying at home, growing with God, but still just staying at home not doing much. I am looking for what God wants me to do with my life, I'm just not sure what it is. I have been good with film/editing, but I have no passion for that anymore. I just don't know if I should give the game a shot, or just keep waiting for something to show up that I am passionate for and is good for God
maybe that desire is a temptation for you to continue gaming and ruin your relationship with God once more. if playing keeps you from your prayers or from your religious activities, then it clearly is a temptation, by the devil, to prevent you from praying and the like. i went through your situation before. i got addicted to this app that i spent so much time on it that i didnt even notice the time pass and because of that, i missed my daily routine of prayer. realizing that it has affected my prayer life negatively and that it has strained my relationship w/ my dad, i stopped and never played it again...and i was free from its bondage! but im not saying that playing games is a bad activity, but if it leads you to live a less Christian life, like, in competitive gaming, you could get frustrated at your opponent and curse at them or trash talk them or if your too addicted to games, you could damage your relationship with your family because you spend less time with them and the like....

Jesus was speaking privately to His disciples He knew that some of His disciples were better at understanding His word. Matt 13:11-12 and 13:23 illustrate this. In the parable of the talents Jesus is the master, the far country is Heaven, the disciples are the servants, the talents represent the different levels of spiritual understanding of the disciples, the return is the second coming, and the profits gained are Christian converts gained in lands where Jesus did not preach. May I suggest an additional meaning of the word "Talent". Is it possible that Talent could be synonymous with the phrase "Free will"? Could free will be the currency of the family of God? The faithful or unfaithful investment of free will brings naturally amplified returns.
We often read this passage and worry that we're not doing enough stuff, but on my view, what Jesus is not concerned so much with productivity as becoming Godly people: The wicked servant hears the good news and doesn't let it change him, the good servant hears God's word and lets it bear fruit in his life, and this pleases God greatly.
Notice the size of the bags. They're not all the same to begin with. We each have different capacities and abilities. Christ wants us to do what we can with what we have, be better than we were to begin with. Not do as much or better than others. Christ cares about our progression, He knows where we're coming from and what were capable of. He doesn't want us to compare ourselves with others, but rather with who we once were. We get credit for trying. The last guy was fearful and didn't even try. Making an effort is what matters, our best effort, not someone else's. Christ knows what we're capable of so He's the best judge of our efforts.

we have all, at one point, not done as much as we can....but remember "doubling" your talent was sufficient to please the lord.. if everybody did that after 33 "spiritual generations" youd have 8 BILLION believers (such is the power of compound interest) IDK about you but that fills me with HOPE!. I don't want just 2 people following me...I want to "convert" hundreds!(who can then in turn convert and "seed" others as they grow in the faith and one day bear fruit) Its an organic process.....you start as a sapling and have o grow to maturity first before you bear fruit. no..God puts his "deposit" or "investment" of his spirit in you,,and at the end he expect a "full return on his deposit/investment".
He will take back what is rightfully his, and unless you multiply/invest what he has empowered you, anything that is not "conformed" to the image/likeness of Christ will be "cast out".
Grow your investment and in doing so, you are "conforming" to the image likeness of Christ by being spiritually "fruitful and multiplying".
And that of your soul which is conformed to Christ will be saved/preserved.

The talent could be also undertand as faith that God gave us, we should multiply faith so other can know Jesus more.
yes,,he puts his "spirit" in us (which is like the talents).
This is his "deposit" or "investment" in us that should motivate us to win others to the lord and grow in the spirit.
At the end he will expect his "deposit" and "investment" paid back(in full)….and if we don't "grow" as a result of this investment, we will have nothing left worthy of redemption
This is actually a "blend"of Calvinism and Arminianism.
We are "once saved,always saved" as we are sealed with the investment in Gods spirit.
But anything not conforming to the image/likeness of Christ will have to be "cast out".
Hence why its important to grow our talents so that we have something left to redeem!
So those of us who've been preached to about how harsh God can be will be punished for being brought up that way? That MIGHT be okay if those preachers who portrayed God that way would be punished alongside us, but there's no guarantee of that, is there?

The point of the parable is not the literal meaning. Jesus gave us parables because they were symbolic of spiritual things. Although, the foolish will see it with a hard heart and turn away.

I had a strong passion for competitive gaming, but it became an idol and just a mess. I felt convicted by God that this was not really doing good, and I ignored that. Later on after the game was taking a toll on me because I cared too much about winning and stuff like that, I felt God convicting me again and I quit, broke the game disc even.
It has been close to a month since I have quit, it has been good for me and my relationship with God, but I still have a desire to play, I feel like there's a talent here. It is the only thing I've done that I have been passionate about really, and I think it could be a great field for God's glory. I feel like if I try to go back though that I will just idolize it again, but I can't help but think of what could be if I do not. There are so many people I interact with daily through the game, and so many opportunities for God's glory. I don't know if God wants me here though, I just don't know. For the past month, with the exception of a short vacation and friends, I have done nothing. I have been staying at home, growing with God, but still just staying at home not doing much. I am looking for what God wants me to do with my life, I'm just not sure what it is. I have been good with film/editing, but I have no passion for that anymore. I just don't know if I should give the game a shot, or just keep waiting for something to show up that I am passionate for and is good for God

maybe that desire is a temptation for you to continue gaming and ruin your relationship with God once more. if playing keeps you from your prayers or from your religious activities, then it clearly is a temptation, by the devil, to prevent you from praying and the like. i went through your situation before. i got addicted to this app that i spent so much time on it that i didnt even notice the time pass and because of that, i missed my daily routine of prayer. realizing that it has affected my prayer life negatively and that it has strained my relationship w/ my dad, i stopped and never played it again...and i was free from its bondage! but im not saying that playing games is a bad activity, but if it leads you to live a less Christian life, like, in competitive gaming, you could get frustrated at your opponent and curse at them or trash talk them or if your too addicted to games, you could damage your relationship with your family because you spend less time with them and the like....
+DEW Prods dont be like the guy who didnt invest his talents and tried to keep them hidden away, God will be disappointed if when he returns you havent improved your skillset, the message of this story is to give back things in better condition than they were given to you, now gaming is hard to become professional but you have to not just play but see it like your job if you really wanna go places with it, work a job and invest into gaming equipment

Jesus was speaking privately to His disciples He knew that some of His disciples were better at understanding His word. Matt 13:11-12 and 13:23 illustrate this. In the parable of the talents Jesus is the master, the far country is Heaven, the disciples are the servants, the talents represent the different levels of spiritual understanding of the disciples, the return is the second coming, and the profits gained are Christian converts gained in lands where Jesus did not preach. Judas gained zero.

May I suggest an additional meaning of the word "Talent". Is it possible that Talent could be synonymous with the phrase "Free will"? Could free will be the currency of the family of God? The faithful or unfaithful investment of free will brings naturally amplified returns.

We often read this passage and worry that we're not doing enough stuff, but on my view, what Jesus is not concerned so much with productivity as becoming Godly people: The wicked servant hears the good news and doesn't let it change him, the good servant hears God's word and lets it bear fruit in his life, and this pleases God greatly.

Notice the size of the bags. They're not all the same to begin with. We each have different capacities and abilities. Christ wants us to do what we can with what we have, be better than we were to begin with. Not do as much or better than others. Christ cares about our progression, He knows where we're coming from and what were capable of. He doesn't want us to compare ourselves with others, but rather with who we once were. We get credit for trying. The last guy was fearful and didn't even try. Making an effort is what matters, our best effort, not someone else's. Christ knows what we're capable of so He's the best judge of our efforts.

we have all, at one point, not done as much as we can....but remember "doubling" your talent was sufficient to please the lord..
if everybody did that after 33 "spiritual generations" youd have 8 BILLION believers

Its an organic process.....you start as a sapling and have o grow to maturity first before you bear fruit.
