  • From Zurich Ballet's 'Swan Lake' from 2009 with Polina Semionova as Odette/Odile. Here, soloist Yen Han performing the Russian Dance with Iker Murillo, Oleksandr Kirichenko, Sergiy Kirichenko, Daniel Mulligan and Yuriy Volk.
This is my absolute favourite version of the Russian Dance. Every time I watch it, it brings tears to my eyes.

Whenever I was in Russia (which I don't do anymore), I played this piece on the violin. I got standing ovations every time.

He is very stupidly proud of having betrayed Russian culture and soul. Don't go to Russia, she doesn't like traitors.

First time I saw this in an adaptation, I was like "oh I didn't know this existed, the music is breathtaking but the dancing isn't special" ad then I came across THIS and oh boy, I think I've never seen anything better than this

Nothing can be worth! The flower in the girl's hair looks very Spanish, not Russian. Besides one poor girl and four men?! It looks rather strange!😞😂

@@userusering1408 well I was referring more to the choreography and performance than to the costume choice. Also, as she is a princess, I just assume these are her guards and she can wear whatever is currently fashionable.

I've seen this dance in a live performance, but without pointe shoes. I was immediately touched by the music, but didn't enjoy the dancing so much (to be fair, a lot of the dancing in the performance was done without pointe shoes) mostly due to the choreography that I couldn't get into. Very happy that I found this absolutely stunning, incredible dance here that fits to the music like chalk and chesse

This dance was originally composed for the role of Odile, added by Tchaikovsky at the request of a ballerina in the version of his time. However most ballet companies base their stagings on the 1895 revival of Marius Petipa and Lev Ivanov. In this new choreography various dances were excluded, perhaps due to the long extension of the score.

I'm sorry but it's NOT a russian dance from "Swan Lake", and obviously it is not a "Swan Lake". That's all! I hate such erasing of genius' s creation! Or call it "Swan Lake" or if you want to change it somehow else!!!!

Pretty well all versions of Swan Lake have been updated in one way or another. Thank goodness. This is from the Zurich Ballet's updated version of Swan Lake, choreographed by Heinz Spoerli.
I don't usually like complete remakes of classical ballet, but this one has been done very well. The costumes are beautiful, and Act 1 is very engaging. I believe the classics are better when partially updated. For example, giving the men great jumps and grand allegro in Act 1, instead of having them mincing around like fairies aka the Mariinsky's version. The Bolshoi's version is much better, as is Rudolf Nureyev's Act 1.

This is from the "original version" by Tchaikovsky but often cut! BTW, I totally dislike the irrelevant modern dress setting.

the music is swan lake, Op. 20 Act III russian dance. most ballets leave out pieces of music and therefore choreography because otherwise it would take far too long
