Love the skagit and gentlemen like this fellow are doorways into our history and real treasures to know. Fly fishing isn't for me just never caught onto it. Also lovely views of the river it is an amazing river been living near it for decades while actually living on the upper Samish river. Salmon runs in these local rivers are such amazing things to see with great diverse wildlife. First year we were here was a record chum salmon run so I can relate to his talking about thd huge runs.
I'm of the same age. 1953. I live in the Day Creek area, and I did serve in the Vietnam War. I fish the river, not exclusively, but not with fly equipment, for the most part. Except humpies. I fly-fish them and it's a gas!
I would love to join you guys fishing

Remember the old car sitting in the river in between Rockport and Marblemount next to the highway?
I don't recall seeing one. Is it still there? I was planning on being out there this week but the weather was just too cold to be comfortable.
I made sure to include it in my latest video
