    Looking forward to finding out where you source the shims to set your end float.

      Hm... Obviously, you know something I don't. Are they not available? If not we will have to make them :)

    Elin, my fine young scientist, in my lifetime of fooling with tr6s, more than half of suspension bushes did not fit, they were too large. On my current 69/71 bastard car, they didn't fit at all I got them from British Parts Northwest normally a good vendor. I reordered from roadster and they fit perfectly. There's a lot of junk out there. Many a time I have looked lovingly at an old worn out part wishing the new part was half as good. I rarely buy new sheet metal fenders where I just bolt them on. I went through hell and back with a warped bonnet I had to save. Windshield rubber, there is another horror story. It is just a bit too big. One exception: I'll cut a car in two and do floors/sills without batting an eye, that seems to be worth it. The value of these cars are predicated on these issues. A truly restored car with quality parts and workmanship is worth 50k. But how do you judge hidden quality performed by strangers? Everyone looks to the established shops for value guidance, then amatures think their OJT in welding sheetmetal is likewise worth a fortune. Tush: I went with bedliner. I have about 100 subscribers! Thanks to all of you. Keep learning what skillful restoration really is, don't cut corners, the long term viability of many of these little pieces of art depend on it. Reed.

      Hey Reed. British Parts Northwest is exactly where I got my bushings from. I usually buy from Moss, but their website was messed up in the GT6 section and I needed to order fast. The same day I also ordered a finishing trim for the leading edge of the roof. That was from Rimmer Bros.... Not even close to fit. I have no idea how am I going to fit with that. So the one time I didn't use moss I regret it.

    Nice job gents. Maybe oven warming the part would have given the expansion needed to avoid grinding? I’m looking forward to seeing how David sorts out that warren of rust

      @RustyBeauties  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good idea. I don't have an oven in the shop but I could have used a heat gun to warm them up. Didn't think of that. But actually even after grinding the part the fit was very tight and Chef was a little worried about that. I think it is ok.
      Chef is already dealing with that missing area of his car :) He will do a good job

    Elin, are you sure the bushes went in the right way ? Looked like the bush had a flange on one side that on the first one you pushed in from the outside and the second was fitted on the inside. Was this the case or can you fit them either way

    • @RustyBeauties
      @RustyBeauties  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, they can't go in a wrong way. The one with a smaller hole is a bit bigger and fits over the one with the big hole. If you switch them the poly bush won't fit through the center hole. I checked many times. Everything was right and sitted properly. I guess the new bushes are just a hair bigger than the original ones they used 40 years ago

    Rather than skimming the metal I usually shave the bushing. As others have said they rarely fit right and if you over-shave the bushing or grind it unsquare you can get a new one for a lot less than a bearing carrier or carrier repair.

      Well, the way Tuch pronounces it is a girl's name here as well. But that is wrong. If you hear how I pronounce it when I talk to myself LOL (many times in the videos) it has nothing to do with the girl's name. But Chef is stubborn and he wouldn't say it right. So for revenge, I gave him my panties to wipe his hands. I only used them once... For a week or two LOL

    Is it possible to pull the hub with a standard extractor?
    Would be great if I could avoid buying the special tool
    Thanks in advance

    • @RustyBeauties
      @RustyBeauties  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Unfortunately I haven't heard of anybody who managed to do that. I tried myself twice anyway.
      How far away are you from Toronto, Canada? I don't mind borrowing you my puller. I can mail it to you if you think it is worth.

      Haha thank you Very much Elin but I am in France, will be complicated :)
      I have a quite big extractor that I used to remove rear disc brakes from a C type replica. Will probably do the job. I will let you know
      Thanks again
