Lmao the fact that olenky has "secret rooms are shining" and still misses them is hilarious Ty for the video, as one says, millenia to live - millenia to learn
Tyler being sassy to his viewers is nearly as entertaining as his inability to read also: playing optimally drains every last drop of joy out of my body. as soon as I think I know how to play optimally, I will subconsciously tend to do it all the time, which feels like work and is pretty exhausting. I cannot play those games anymore, until I completely forget everything I know about them, which is a curse, because I also tend to not forget things like... ever
I watch a dif channel for minmax tiny rogue runs, I watch you for "average guy with relatable commentary plays game for fun." I feel like your other videos make that clear and i appreciate the casual approach.
Honestly, fair shout brother. Do whatever gives you the most fun, and as a result, I would hope we have the most fun watching! And honestly, sometimes a run going horribly wrong because of choices made, is way more fun than blandly winning a run on sorc for the X-Thousanth time.
The only comment I'll make regarding the progression tree is that I've had more fun playing since I picked up Wild Card, top left of tree, (trait selection always includes a trait from your lowest stat). I've seen so many weird combos since taking it and it really adds some chaos to the mix. Not going to say it is optimal or anything I just think you may enjoy it as well. Have fun however you want, I'll watch and enjoy.
Edit: oops, left a massive comment. Go ahead, read half of it. I recommend just the last two blocks of text (the big one and the tiny one). Lucky hit at low amounts isn't great. Let's use ✨math✨ to discover this ourselves. First, 100% will be 1, 50% will be 0.5, 0% will be 0, and so on. I'm used to this to the point that I actually *prefer* to have probability set like this. I haven't played, but I'm guessing this follows basic probability and that crit modifier is how much damage a crit does. Let's look at the point in the run in which you had 20% lucky hit and 8% crit chance. Without accounting for lucky hit, you had an 8% crit chance. Great! Now let's assume you don't crit naturally. You have a 20% chance to lucky hit. If you do, that's two 8% rolls. It's a 92% chance that you don't crit, so a 0.92 * 0.92 chance that you don't crit in two rolls, or a 1 - 0.92 * 0.92 chance that you crit (at least one rolls a crit). So, If you don't crit naturally, you have a 0.2 * (1 - 0.92 * 0.92) chance of rolling a lucky hit crit. 0.08 (natural crit chance) + 0.92 (chance to not natural crit/roll lucky hit) * 0.2 (chance to lucky hit) * (1 - 0.92 * 0.92) (chance to crit from lucky hit) = 0.1082624 (crit chance) That's a 10.82624% chance to crit! Wait, that's not much different from 8%. The truth is, lucky hit is terribly pointless at such low values, but if you were to always get a lucky hit (remove the 0.2 in the equation above) then you have a 22.1312% chance to crit, which isn't much better, but that's still over 1/5 hits. So yeah, lucky hit is best built strong, but it still feels great to see numbers get bigger. Keep gambling.
Hi Olexa, use the dynamite on the bosses for a legit a 1shot its pretty funny. Also I am a player that min-maxes every run but its what I find fun and I still like watching ur style.
The lucky hit+crit calc is a little complicated. At 8% crit and 20% lucky only equates to about 9.5% crit (if i didn't fuck up the calculation, but even if I did, it's roughly right) But scaling both at the same time is pretty damn good eventually. Of course due to the thief's passive you'll be crititing about twice as often (probably a little less than twice as much) For those who care, my calculations were: 0.08+(0.92×0.2×0.08)=0.09472 It's been a long time since i did stuff like this so it definitely might be wrong.
I do believe it’s the probability of 1 crit (.08) + probability of second crit (.08) minus probability that they both crit (.08x.08 = .0064) (.08 + .08 - .0064) = .1536
Sound damage is a damage type usually only from musical/instrument weapons, which are fairly rare, but are pretty strong, and are the bard’s whole shtick
Just want to point out the kelp item at 10:42 which looks a lot like the green blossom. The kelp is *insanely good*. Permanent +1 stamina for 12 gold, when it usually costs 30 souls is a pretty good deal. Also: the fish minigame you can spam both E and Space. Helps a lot.
Welcome back Olexa. Thank you so very much for providing a delightful stream of tiny rogues while you were gone. I'm sure that one day was pretty brutal xD
Taking the double stats from dex might sound very good, but the encumbrance and crit chance matter quite a lot for your build here. Anyway, that one boss fight at 1hp was super well played.
Since there are only a limited number of skill points (and several options restrict others) you kind of need to pick and choose, but you can remove and redistribute as needed, its far more like… “putting cards in a deck”, than it is having a “build up the town” system. And the item you bring in with you would be like having a different battle mat effect.
Tyler after saying that he think he plays the game "better" than most of the comments: I think different people having different gameplays is good, there should not be any that's called bad gameplay
Probably most people's frustrations lie in the moments where you don't want to read the text. That being said, my frustrations with your last run was how crazy lucky you got for drops after making horrible decisions. It's just jealousy, don't take it all to heart, you still cleared!
90% of the time Dont use souls for heals usually, instead you usually want to grab stamina, unless you are running any magic items or swords, in which case you go magic stars on both of those because it super boosts. Even if you are going for some health, likely grab an extra heart instead of a small heal

Hey Tyler, great run. I can't wait for you to find out later what the endgame looks like. One confusing thing about Mana is that the damage and attack speed you get is per mana, not per max mana. So if you're in mana fatigue (red) you will actually do less damage than when you have full mana.
