Hot take, and people hate me on reddit for saying this, but I would rather take Isagi as a false 9 than Barou as a traditional striker. Roberto Firmino has shown for many seasons at Liverpool how effective a smart player like Isagi would be on this role, and Isagi is an even better finisher than Firmino with his direct shot. Another hot take, Hiori is right now, with his ego awoken, the 3rd best player in Blue Lock, only behind Rin and Isagi; his brain seems to be at Isagi's level, linking-up with him for the smartest goal in the story, he has the best passing among Blue Lockers and is easily top 5 on technique, while also having impressive physical abilities (vide Karasu's remarks on 206-14), he can defend like Isagi, play-make better than Isagi and loses to Isagi on goal-scoring. If Isagi is at the top while primarily relying on his brain, then Hiori is at the top too.
Isagi as a deep lying forward is just superior. Because he drops deep to collect he can operate in half spaces, giving advantage to numbers in the midfield too. Skill moves at the end of the day only serve a purpose when trying to escape defenders. That’s all Barou’s chop dribble has value in doing, it’s a means of movement. Isagi already has great off-ball movement which is more efficient and effective since most time is spent off-ball and it’s less risky and gives higher impact the more you can do out of possession. Even a striker like Osihmen isn’t a traditional playmaker, but bc of what he does w his physicality it relieves pressure off his team, and he’s doing it with his back to the goal. That’s real value
Great video as always. Looking forward to more.
Finally, the speaker of straight facts has returned. I always look forward to hearing your in-depth videos.
I appreciate that
