The Brutalist still has a clear path to win Best Picture because The Shape of Water, Green Book and Nomadland won without SAG Ensemble and with one or two nominations.
2023 everybody said that Ana de armas can’t be nominated only with SaG and golden globe, and in the end she was nominated for Marilyn. I can see the same for Pamela Anderson
You can actually get nominated with only a Golden Globe. Rooney Mara did it in 2012. And of course Kristen Stewart got only BAFTa and still got Oscar so..
Agree with the rest of the comments. Having Yvette was a brilliant idea! So many others just read/react to press releases/wikipedia. This created much more tension and was quite fun to see, and listen to. Keep her for awards where they don't have a televized announcement.
Thanks!!! I much prefer hearing Yvette read them off instead of reading too. It's also great because she pauses until I fully can recoup too. Thanks for the feedback!
You mean PGA (Producers Guild of America) not PDA. Although The Shape of Water did technically also win PDA (Public display of affection) because the explicit love scenes. LOL 😂
I’m so happy you did this! I was disappointed when I saw that the announcement was canceled although now I wonder if even the Oscars will follow suit. Today was a grim day for Los Angeles.

They really love Wicked, it's safe to say that unlike other musicals it's going to do well with the Oscars. West Side Story was a remake and that's why it didn't do well. It was also a box office failure that couldn't understand its demographic. Wicked is the complete opposite, a critical success that was also a surprise box office hit and became the highest grossing musical adaptation of all time. This is already attracting many Oscar voters to its side. It's also doing something completely unique by using act 1 of the musical as a complete story and act 2 as another complete story. Both of these films could possibly win large numbers of awards. It's also a smart way to tell each act as a story in itself. It's pretty groundbreaking if you think about it. I think we really have to take it more seriously as an Oscar contender unlike other musical adaptations because of how much success it is enjoyed here and how much it will at the Oscars. When they were talking about an Oppenheimer level standing ovation with 900, Oscar and sag voters, they had already crowned their best picture FrontRunner before the others came along. This is the Wicked resurgence that I talked about and that's why the film is going to do well with the academy, the cast is absolutely stacked and so is the talent. It's going to win ensemble.
It’s between The Brutalist (the Nomadland haul: Director, Lead Actor); Wicked (close to the Chicago haul: Supporting Actress, Production Design and Costumes); and Anora (which can even lose Actress to Demi and still get away with the Argo haul: Screenplay and Editing). All others have no chance.
I think you all are overestimating Wicked because you want it to do well. Chicago won in a time when no one did musicals. Now musicals are old-fashioned which can explain why they never do well at Oscars. West Side Story got most nominations at both Critics and Globes, onky to get crushed by the Oscars
I think Emilia Perez is the Chicago. I feel like BP can go to either The Brutalist, Anora, Emilia Perez, or Conclave. And leaning towards the first too. Fun race though!
So, what is your problem with Jamie Lee Curtis ? 🤷🏻 just because you think she don’t deserve nomination doesn’t mean we don’t. Jamie and especially Pamela Anderson deserves all this and even more for their great performances
The Fall Guy was incredible. He yea one of my new favorite movies. Deadpool and Wicked were great too but Fall Guy is my pick. My top movies of all time 1. Interstellar 2. Everything Everywhere All At Once 3. The Fall Guy 4. Coco
Nominations aren't wins, Anora got a bunch of nominations in Globes and lost everything. Demi is winning SAG, Mikey's best chance is Critic's Choice and I think she may lose that too.
07:50 So, you mean that Pamela will not nominated for Best Actress Oscars, and she replaced by Fernando Torres who did Not nominated for CCA, SAG, and not in the longlist of BAFTA...???
Perhaps it's because people who know about good cinema know how to value the work of good actors and actresses, regardless of whether they are not american and media.
Adrien Brody still has a path to victory. Don't forget that Leonardo DiCaprio was the only nominee for THE REVENANT at SAG and he still prevailed. I suspect THE BRUTALIST suffered from screener issues, not to mention the emphasis on the theatrical experience. Besides, let us not forget that Brody won the Oscar without winning any major precursors for THE PIANIST (I believe he is the last person to date to do this), so I think he is due for a proper victory lap this time around. That year saw Daniel Day-Lewis win both SAG and BAFTA and tie Critics Choice with Jack Nicholson (Nicholson won the Golden Globe).
They nominated Kathy Bates for her tiny role in The Great Lillian Hall and didn't nominate Jessica Lange for her lead role 😐 Am I the only one that is finding the Pamela Anderson and Demi Moore love a tad over the top?
Filmmaking is a creative art form and, the Oscar is to recognizing the level of the creativities. Any remade movies and films that took a spin on anither movie should be viewed as locking of creativities and, should not be on the list of consideration.

Emilia Pérez is outrageous in its representation of Mexico. Furthermore, it is utterly poor in its artistry. People who can't see it are quite unsensible and out of touch with their feelings.
That's because it's a big budget spectacle, they never nominate films like that for that. He could still sneak in there in the surprise nominations. It wouldn't surprise me considering how much the Screen Actors Guild takes up the vast majority of the academy. They basically confirmed everything I had said before, Wicked is a force to be reckoned with and unlike West Side Story, it's not a remake. It's a completely original work all itself which is why we'll do well at the Oscars.
@@kd17Burger That's the reason? Then it could actually still get an Oscar nomination for director. I guarantee he's going to sneak his way in there since he has a better chance than The Substance director at this point since SAG only gave Demi Moore one nomination and didn't bother to nominate the cast. It's almost guaranteed that Wicked is winning at this at this point. There could be a surprise scenario where we don't know what's going to happen with the Oscar nominations and the director of Wicked could still make it in. Anything can happen come Oscar morning.

Actor/Actress are pretty straight forward. Supporting Actor/Actress are clusterfucks. When it comes to the Oscar Best Picture winner it usually comes from the winner of one of the screenplay categories and/or director Oscar's. So, with that in mind I think Best Picture comes down to Anora, The Brutalist & Conclave. If Anora or Conclave win ensemble here that would be huge for its chances. My SAG predictions are: Ensemble - Wicked Actress - Demi Moore Actor - Timothee Chalamet Supporting Actress - Zoe Saldana Supporting Actor - Kieran Culkin Stunt Ensemble - Dune Part Two
So glad A Complete Unknown overperformed, very deserved. Glad I went all in and predicted all four of its nominations. If anyone like Ryan was doubting this movie as top five best picture contender you're basically fooling yourself now.
They should hire Yvette to read these next year she does it perfectly
