I had family that went to church in Picher, I think right up to the tornado. I remember driving through it many times. The chat piles looked like small mountains. At the church the tapwater was brown and smelled bad. No one drank it. There was an orange creek too.
I remember a really nice woman that ran a flea market along the main street in Picher. I don't think anyone told me if she survived.

Thank you for sharing this story. I hope to do a video on Picher. I know my friend Wiseguy was there - those chat piles really put things in perspective and I had heard the pharmacy was still open (the last business?). Thanks for the comment Jake.
