Thanks Jennifer for your useful and practical lesson. As much as I can I keep practicing with your informative videos. You are an assertive teacher. Here is my example: When you go shopping, please look for economic prices. Otherwhise, you'll have to face economical issues.
Oh you're so wonderful to bring up these two adjectives. I should have mentioned them! So here are my explanations: Both can refer to a general nature, but "economical" refers a person's behavior or character. If they're not wasteful, they're economical. "Economic" is used with things that relate to a society's or country's economy: economic activity.
Hi everyone! At 15:18 there's a typo. I should have written "electronic reminder/device" in the box. My apologies for any confusion! My explanation and examples are correct, though.
Well, i may have accidentally came across Jennifer's videos, but now it has become something intentional. Now it don't have to be accidental but it has certainly become an intentional kind of a thing for me. Thanks Jennifer dear.
Hello teacher! With no doubt, your lessons are an effective learning tool. *My elder brother is such a politic man, he always acts with prudence. So, he continues being my role model. *Next year my daughter will have to choose a political orientation in order to vote for first time. 🙋Thanks for the lesson. Have a nice weekend! 👐
Hi Claire. I'm glad this lesson was useful. :) It's strange, I know, that some words are in the dictionary, but we don't really use them. "Politic" is one. www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/politic You're correct to use "political orientation" - your daughter's general outlook and position on issues. However, in the case of your brother, "a politic man" sounds unclear and awkward to me. Perhaps you mean: - he's well-informed on political issues. OR - he's a law-abiding citizen. Do you think one of those is accurate?
JenniferESL Hi! What I tried to say about my brother is that he is super well-behaved in the way in which he treats other people, either they are known or strangers. He's kind, patient and a very good father and uncle. I look up to he so much! In Spanish we tend to say that a person is politically correct, when that person never loses control, whatever he faces.
Yes, you can use that word "politically correct." But it's not exactly the same as kind and patient. "Politically correct" refers to the practice of choosing language that doesn't cause offense and is inclusive. It sounds like your brother is very considerate and kind to both friends and strangers. He sounds like a wonderful person. :)
I'm keen on historical novels. They allow me to apprehend historic events in a much more lively way. Thank you so much Jennifer. I had a hard time with those two adjectives. Your videos are truly informative and creative.
Super job, Catherine! Historical fiction is indeed a genre. Personally, I've also read historical romance. You're right. It can bring to life certain historic events because we see what they were like for people (the characters) we've come to know. See you on the Community Tab. I know you saw the sponsor-only tasks there. I'll correct those next. ;)

Hi Jennifer. I like the impressive background of your video. It shows the magnificent picture of your children. I am so happy to hear that I made you smile whenever I commented on your videos with this adjective "informative." I always find your videos beneficial. Keep up the good work, Jennifer. 💝
Thanks for the encouragement, Ra'ed. 😁 Thank you for commenting on the children's photo as well. I know you have a strong grasp on these word parts, but review and reinforcement are instrumental in language learning. I'll try to challenge you with something new soon. I think I'll look for inspiration so that I can write a new oral reading practice text. Take care.
It's definitely time for me to start thinking of a new text. Another possibility, though, is addressing formal vs. informal English. Advanced speakers should be comfortable switching between the two. That would be a fun lesson to make.
Dear Teacher JenniferESL, A very good video lesson. The explanations are very clear and detailed. Besides, I get to know the mistakes that native and non-native English speakers commonly make. As a keen viewer of your video lessons, may I take the liberty to say that they have the informational, instructional and cultural aspect. In general, they are an effective learning tool. To conclude, a good linguistic teacher and a promising model. The way you teach is enough to turn a million heads. Looking forward to other video lesson soon. Enjoy your weekend ! Hope you will respond and make a video for it its will be helpful for me I asked same question many channel but they don't respond
Hi. Suffixes and prefixes are important to learn. Reading helps a lot. You need exposure to these different word parts --in a meaningful context! I've been meaning to give more attention to suffixes at some point. Maybe I'll do that sooner rather than later. Until I do, here are some useful links: www.thoughtco.com/common-suffixes-in-english-1692725 teacher.scholastic.com/reading/bestpractices/vocabulary/pdf/prefixes_suffixes.pdf www.englishclub.com/vocabulary/suffixes.htm
Mam!! Longman dictionary available in play store but there is two one is longman and second one is advance longman dictionary which one good ... Could you tell me please?
Hi Jennifer, thank you for support. I have a question, what is the meaning of letter "S" that is in the last of this sentence? Humans have been burning fossil fuels like coal, oil and natural gas ever since the Industrial Revolution began in the 1800s. As you know I translated that and I have known that means century, but why that especially letter "S"? thank you
Hi Ahmed. So we put on the -s to indicate a reference to the whole century. In the 1800s means from 1800 to 1899. Sometimes we focus on a specific part: in the early 1800s, in the late 1800s, in the mid-1800s. Or we speak more generally: throughout the 1800s. Good question!
Yes, you'll hear that. In the kitchen you can have a gas or electric range/stove. We have an electric teapot. The dishwasher would be an example of an electrical appliance.
Ugh, this whole video is very important, but very confusing at the same time. CAN I SAY... The city of Boston is historical OR Boston is a historic city!?!?!?????? Learning English is hard!
You're not alone in your confusion. Even native speakers get those two adjectives mixed up. If you mix them up, you'll still be understood, but for accuracy, associate "historic" with things that are important in history: a historic occasion, a historic landmark, a historic decision, etc. Remember these examples for "historical," which means they're related to history or about history: historical fiction, historical society. I'd likely go with "historic Boston" because Boston has played an important role in history, especially during the American Revolution. Check out this list of historic cities (cities that have been significant in U.S. history). www.10best.com/awards/travel/best-historic-city/

Good question!
thank you, but why the letter "s" I see letter "C" is better because the word "Century" is beginning with its.
Because the -s is for the end of "hundreds" >> the eighteen hundreds.
