You’re right about the open spaces in the houses. They haven’t always been open floor designs but it’s gained popularity in the last 10-15 years in new homes and remodels.
Chuck Norris is an American legend. Unlike most martial arts actors, Chuck Norris was actually a professional world champion fighter. He was the real deal and even now at 84 years old, he's still in excellent physical condition.
I live with my dogs in a little apartment, but I still have a full-size fridge with icemaker, garbage disposal, stacked washer and dryer in the bathroom, pantry + hall closet + a walk-in closet big enough for a side table and a small stool (for putting on shoes) and lots of storage, plus a 130’sq. deck. Full-size stove/oven and dishwasher, plus a full-size tub/shower. Bedroom is big enough that I have a section of it set up as a home office. (Yes, my home is admittedly cluttered.)
when I first started watching your videos, from your accent, I thought you were Russian. You have very good English and I have no problem understanding you. I’m a 81-year-old living in Michigan. I really enjoy all the videos I have seen, which is a lot
I’m guessing the reason Andre sounds Russian is because linguists say that Portuguese, his native tongue, sounds like Spanish with a Russian accent. BTW, I’m a 79-year-old living in Texas 😂. I really enjoy his videos too.
There is nothing wrong with your accent! We don't mind any other accents, regardless of where they are from. As long as you try your best to speak with us, and don't try to IMITATE the local accent, we can communicate and help each other with the languages. We do like to learn your languages also!
Don’t go to Arizona in the Summer! It can get to 117 degrees (Las Vegas too)! I wouldn’t go to any Southern State in the Summer! It’s HOT and HUMID! Always check the season’s when planning where to go on your vacation. Winter in Minnesota is COLD! There’s Hurricane season and Tornado season and places where Fall is colorful.
I live in California, and both visually and lifestyle and people wise Southern California AKA (SoCal) is so much more opposite of Northern California it like night and day.
Andre your English is great! I understand you always. The more you speak it the comfortable you’ll become! Just don’t go losing your wonderful accent!!! Thank you for another great video ❤
Always enjoy your reactions. Two small points, water and electricity don’t always get along but here in the states we have a lower voltage and wet areas like kitchen and bathrooms have a special circuit that automatically kills the circuit if it comes in contact with water. I lived in Arizona and even in one state you go from the desert up to pine filled forests and of course the Grand Canyon, such diversity
I live in New England and different states are geographically different. Connecticut isn't that far from Vermont but their geographic features are different. I live close to Rhode Island...don't blink, you might miss the whole state.
I'm from Alabama and RI has given me so many amazing memories. My mom is from MA, and we would always go to Providence and fly kites by the bay. We also loved touring the beautiful and haunted mansions. It's one of my favorite places ever!
Rhode Island is tiny. OTOH, the state I grew up in is a bit bigger than the United Kingdom. Two adjacent counties in my state are, combined, the same size as Scotland.
Birmingham, Alabama here. People are friendly, kind, family oriented, patriotic and love collage football; for the most part. Large churches with many attendees. Beautiful shopping areas, malls, restaurants, top notch Medical School and University, etc. This area is nothing like the flat Mississippi delta. Much of Alabama is foothill Appalachian Mountains, and the neighborhoods are nestled within, with many lakes and lots of trees/ forests. The homes look different as well. Very different accents though. Friendly and good people, is the largest commonality the two states share.
Girl's, in bathrooms or where water is close to electrical sockets, those sockets have a GFI, Ground Fault Interrupter which means the socket shuts down with the electoral circuit breaker preventing electrocution! Girl's, it's that little red button on the socket that you push to reset it. 😂
I want to echo what many other commenters have said. Your english is phenominal. Perhaps you are so self conscience about it because for you and most other countries in the world, you have to know two languages and one of those is usually english. So you worry if it isnt right. We were lucky that english is such a popular language and we only need to know the one language and can count on the fact that most every else will be able to understand us. So because of this, knowing even a little bit of a second language is amazing to us. To me, your english is extremely well done. And i actually think americans are going to LOVE your accent. Its not that we like british accents more, we just like accents! You communicate your thoughts fantastically. In fact, i have amazed at how well you have been able to find other phrases and words when you feel you are getting tripped up on a word. I always think, "man, even i would have not thought of another way to say that that quickly!" I thought it in this exact video in fact.
Sometimes people in the same state are completely different from each other, like Illinois for example. People from northern IL are different than people in southern IL, and Chicago is a completely diffetent world compared to both.

Your accent is perfectly understandable. I don't know about tougher, though. I may have thought so once, but I've watched you for a while, and I can only find it relaxing, now. You're the kindest person on TH-cam.
I'm from Southwest Arizona....every region is completely different from each other....every single state is completely different from each other....even every town & city is completely different from each other....yes we can definitely tell the differences between all of them....we all have accents so no need to be insecure about yours....tips are always optional....walk in closets aren't in every house & not in every room....Calamity Jane is a famous female from the wild west....yes the tv show 'Walker Texas Ranger' with Chuck Norris was so famous that Jared Padalecki aka Sam Winchester from 'Supernatural' made & starred in a reboot show a couple years ago
In the UK they have a special tax where they tax your house for how many rooms you have. And they count closets as rooms. As a result it changed the architecture in the UK. People have wardrobes instead of closets. Why pay the idiot tax? They don't tax rooms here so everyone wants large closets.
I don’t understand the problem with electrical outlets in the bathroom either. We have a lot of outlets in our bathroom. I plug in my razor, my hair dryer, electric toothbrush, my Alexa, and other things. Nothing dangerous about it, and there’s nothing dangerous about having outlets that are always on.
If you dropped an electric appliance into a sink of water you could get a power surge and cause a short circuit. It is basically touching the power and the neutral together. It cause a decent size explosion. We use what is called a Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter or a Ground Fault Interrupter (less common) If the sensor senses a surge it flips off to prevent an electrocution
Hi Andre, thank you so much for featuring our video on your channel! It was so refreshing to listen to someone being kind in a reaction video! You speak English very well and have a lovely presentation style. If you are ever in Arizona, please let us know! Best wishes ~ Julie & Lucy ❤❤

They mentioned about Arizona for seeing stars. Arizona is considered a "dark state" because outside of the big cities they actively limit outdoor lights that shine upward to keep the surroundings darker. On our property, when it gets dark you cant see past arms length.
Brit expat here … never had the interest in coming to live in America . Had always been led to believe Americans were rude and had no culture … my work bought me on a couple of visits and in the end I immigrated here.. the life style and access to absolute stunning scenery and nature is incredible!! If you are willing to live outside the city like us .. a couple of acres with a 4-7 bedroom 2 bath large house is easily obtainable for less than a two up two down terrace house in the UK ! If you are willing to work RVs , boats and maybe a Harley is well within the budget ! The people are actually not arrogant like you are lead to believe! The diversity of scenery from state to state is vast from alpine , Caribbean to mars like landscape are all here !! It’s a great place to live and like everywhere is only as good as the effort you put in !! We love it here
Lifelong New England resident here. Yes, each state is wildly different from each other. Our slang is different, our accents are different, etc. BTW- New York is not a part of New England, although it is a common mistake, so no worries.
Being from the United States, One thing I noticed in my travels here is.... You can tell how rich or poor a state is by the condition of its roads and highways. Not all states are equal in this department. The Roads in Texas where I am from, Are ok, Nothing special, But I have noticed in surrounding states, The moment you cross the state line, The roads really suck. Potholes everywhere, Unfinished construction. uneven roads, often with no shoulders. and just in poor condition, for the most part Texas is very fortunate to have such a strong and versatile economy. And fairly good roads.
I grew in Louisiana and have lived in Texas for most of my life. Man Louisiana has one step above wagon trails! But I will always say, people in Louisiana aren't rich, but they sure are friendly and like, as a Coonass would say..."know how to pass good time, yea, mon cher!"
@@victorglaviano I grew up in Texas, But was born in Louisiana. In Wenfield . I Spent all my summers at my grandparents home, in a small town in the Kisatchie National Forest.... In a town named Calvin. Best memories of my life.
I live in Arizona. Arizona has more variety of terrain than any other state. It even has more coastlines. There are many lakes, and the terrain ranges from desert to mountain-snow! Another amazing sight to see is the huge meteor crater in Northern Arizona. In the mountains and some other regions here, the night sky when clear reveals a myriad of stars. The sunrises and sunsets are spectacular as well.
"Walker Texas Ranger". I grew up watching that show too. As for the big horizons, you can see that from many states. I'm in Oklahoma right now and when I first moved here I'd lay outside at night staring up at the sky (I was born in a forest area) there is so much to see from state to state, the comparison of state differences to E.U. country cultural variety and differences is accurate. and Mississippi vs Alabama, those states are very different indeed.
Some bars have a pour spout that closes/stops after a 1 ounce shot is poured. Most have a spout that pours freely and the bar tender controls. A short pour is a 1 ounce (or just under), a heavy (big) pour is always over 1 ounce, usually 1.5 ounces or to the top of the shot glass.
nobody will know your accent is from portugal. they will think it eastern european for sure. russian, ukrainian, or polish. but people will understand you just fine
Come to Massachusetts Andre. We have a huge community of Portuguese and Azorean people. Lowell, New Bedford, and Fall River are great cities for Portuguese food and Culture. If you end up in Lowell, i can show you around
Electrical sockets in bathrooms, kitchens, and outdoors have GFI sockets installed (Ground Fault Interrupts). If your hair dryer falls in the water the circuit will trip quickly before any real issue happens (it is faster and more reliable than relying on the main circuit breaker). I also install them for my fish tanks where cheap pumps, heaters, etc can fail.
2 bedroom, 2 bathroom, living, dining room, kitchen and a walk in laundry room, plus two walk-in closets and a giant coat closet and linen closet, and pantry in kitchen for food 😊
Generally, electricity and water don't mix well. Dropping an appliance on a wet floor or into a tub, for instance. However 110V in US vs 220V in UK/Ireland.
Most of us don’t normally tip the repair or handyman. If they’re at your home for almost all day, I may offer a cold drink, if it hot, and offer something hot if it is cold out. If they are only there for an hour or two, I don’t. Patriotism is not just in the South. I see flags all over everyone’s vehicles and homes. Patriotism is everywhere across the US. I live in Northeast Ohio and there are flags everywhere here. Sometimes due to weather, we may take them down, so they don’t get ruined. And maybe when we put up Christmas lights. Don’t worry, your English is very good! Texas Walker Ranger was one of my Dad’s favorite shows.
In Europe the taxation laws discourage walk-in or even built-in closets. Historically, these were counted as seperate rooms and increased the amount of tax the homeowner needed to pay.
Arizonan here. It’s a beautiful state. But don’t come here in the summer. Sonoran desert is very hot. Our winter is marvelous weather, though. You are so cheerful! I’m from the Midwest. Have lived in Illinois, Missouri, Indiana, Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas.
Outlets near a sink or water source have to be GFCI outlets or AFCI outlets. They have their own circuit breaker within the outlet that switches off if they get wet. Keeps you from getting electrocuted.
Arizona native, and I'll never get tired of how beautiful the skies are here, especially when the sun is setting. It's horizon to horizon clear open skies, surrounded by low set mountains. My favorite moments are the rare times it's raining a decent drizzle but the sun is still shining through.
I wouldn't want to live in a city or tight suburb where there are no open spaces. There's a section in town where people have some really nice large houses but they're packed so close together. I don't get it. The city is nice to visit for all the action. The country is nice to visit to get away from it all. I mainly like the loose suburbs. You're close enough to what you need but you have your own space for "me time".
For the word you wondered about: It is intrigues, pronounced “intreegs”. For your accent: It is very attractive to American women. Your accent is a part of what makes you so cute to us.❤
Every state has its own history and story to tell. Natural resources also vary state to state. Washington is famous for its cherries, Vermont for maple syrup, Maine for lobster, Texas for beef, Iowa for Corn, Minnesota for lakes, Wisconsin for cheese, Georgia for peaches, etc. Neighboring states often have commonalities; it’s true, but you can always find differences.
*Everyone* who speaks has an accent. I speak with a mixed northern California/southern California accent with a smattering of other things that I picked up from friends who grew up in other states. I recently noticed that I've picked up a laugh pattern from a Twitch streamer from Canada.
The electrical outlets themselves, in the kitchen and bathrooms are equipped with a circuit breaker. ( by building code and regulations ) The other outlets around the house don’t have that feature.
The voltages and amps in a bathroom for power sockets are reduced to non-lethal levels (110v and 20amps is not typically lethal unless you have a cardiac issue) .
These ladies are a little ditzy, mercurial. Their conversations jump from one thought to another. I think they must know each other so well they don't really have to finish any particular subject, they both just follow a kind of free association style. In their accent it's hard to follow.
"Walker, Texas Ranger". Yeah, that was a good TV show. I remember, while in the army stationed in Ft. Bliss, TX across the border from Ciudad Juarez, Mexico. We'll cross the bridge on weekends from El Paso to party in Juarez, then come back early in the morning around 3:00am to TX to be greeted by a Texas Ranger at the border, cowboy hat and all. 😄
Walker: Texas Ranger-The "modern" (80's/90's) version of the classic 'The Lone Ranger,' Sheriff vs. Bandits in trucks instead of on horses. Family friendly for all ages unlike most police/cop shows of the time or today. They may not have noticed that the electrical sockets in American bathrooms, at least in houses and apartments constructed in the last half-century, are special safety sockets that switch off as soon as anything plugged in comes into contact with water and shorts, the power instantly shuts off. You still might get a shock, but it shuts off and ends before any serious injury or death can occur.
Definitely a lot of regional differences. I’m in Kentucky, and everyone in the top quarter of the state speaks with a Midwestern accent, but starting south around Jefferson county, the accents change pretty drastically. They have more of a “hillbilly” accent in southern Kentucky, which I love. Whenever I go to see a Wildcat basketball game in Lexington, I hear the accents and feel like I’m home.
I love hearing accents. When I hear someone with an accent, it primarily tells me that this is a person with a different life experience from mine, and that will always make me interested in getting to know more about them.
I only tip full service restaurant waitstaff. They are paid less. There are variables from state to state. But they basically make their money from tips, 15-20% minimum or more,if you choose, of the tab before any tax or service fees. Some states have mandatory elevated wages for waitstaff. It is ok to ask the waitstaff questions about their state. In Texas waiters/ waitresses make $2.13/ hr but with tips they average $25-27/hr. This is for full service restaurants, only. You also should tip delivery drivers and taxi / uber drivers. Hair stylists are optional. My hairstylist charges me $275 for a cut and highlight, a 2hour session, where she does other hair while my highlights set. At those rates, I don't tip her. And I discussed that with her before I committed to be her customer, but I do tip her assistant, the girl that washes my hair and helps out. If you go to an inexpensive salon like supercuts $20, you should tip. Same for a barber. My electrician and plumber are professionals just like my exorbitant hair dresser and also myself, a healthcare professional, we all have a state license to practice, so, no tip except for a cheap hair cut, unless you have $ to burn. The skycap at the airport, the bellboy at the higher end hotel, type of stuff. places like Manhattan, they tip a lot more. There are variables. I hope this helps
States can be regional as well... I am in the San Francisco bay area.. within a 4 hr drive, I can be on the coast, in the mountains, the redwood forests and a little even a desert region. And the climate from northern California and southern Ca can be very different as well
Absolutely true. Its the reason our elections are so volatile. Every state has different habits and hobbies and landscapes and lifestyles, some of them translate across the country and some are unique only within their regions. The biggest differences are immediately seen simply between the major cities and the rural communities though. The big cities are giant melting pots that don't exactly vibe with rural people, but nearly everone is welcoming and interested to encounter different people. Even in the country itself coastal states are ridiculed politically by central and southern states, but everyone in the midwest and south seems to embrace interactions with people from coastal states regardless. I personally was always happy to meet foreign people who crossed my path in no name mountain towns around Yosemite park
Thanks!
Ty so much 🙏

Now all bedrooms have to have arch fault breakers, too.
We do have switched outlets but more often in old homes or businesses
Plus, 120v is safer than 240v. Both are dangerous, of course, but 240 has a lot more potential energy behind it
Arc not arch .
I have to add that the GFCI breakers will NOT prevent an electric shock, just not a lethal shock. That was the intended design of this device.

Nah man, you're accent is fire! Trust me, ppl here would LOVE your accent as much if not more than the British accent.
Visited Portugal this year. The Portuguese are very friendly. It made our visit very enjoyable. You remind me of the types of people we met! Enjoying your channel.
I LOVE your accent, Andre!!! You're a joy to listen to.
He keeps saying his accent is a big deal when in reality people would just ask and move on in like 5 secs. 😂 I think he is self conscious about it, but there is absolutely no reason lol
Me too. I find it much more pleasant than the British accent.
I’m a Texan and I think most people I know love ALL accents! We love meeting new people. Learning from and about them.
Your accent is adorable. Plus, you are kind and charming. We Americans will love you! If anyone was ever meant to be an American, it’s you.
Americans usually love accents in general. It is a good conversation starter.
Walker Texas Ranger was iconic in my house. My Granny loves Chuck Norris. She’s 95 years old and still watches.
Sometimes people in the same state are completely different from each other, like Illinois for example. People from northern IL are different than people in southern IL, and Chicago is a completely diffetent world compared to both.
Andre please keep going!!...So many love your content and your "Russian" accent 😂
Your channel is one of my favorites and I look forward to your videos.
Yes definitely different state to state. Massachusetts here
Upstate New York here.
Yes, Walker Texas Ranger with Chuck Norris. Chuck is a major cultural icon in the US.
Chuck Norris does not have a stove, oven, grill or microwave; as revenge is a dish best served cold.
As an American that grew up in Hawaii… I was enamored about road trips and National Lampoon’s Vacation inspired me to do cross country road trips when I had chance when I finally moved to Washington State.
Arizona born and raised here. 57 years old and I will never leave this state. It is one of the most climate and scenery diverse states in the country.
I think they’re concerned about dropping an electric appliance in a sink filled with water.
The circuits in the UK are much higher voltage
If you dropped an electric appliance into a sink of water you could get a power surge and cause a short circuit. It is basically touching the power and the neutral together. It cause a decent size explosion. We use what is called a Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter or a Ground Fault Interrupter (less common) If the sensor senses a surge it flips off to prevent an electrocution
America has many accents and regions
Hi Andre, thank you so much for featuring our video on your channel! It was so refreshing to listen to someone being kind in a reaction video! You speak English very well and have a lovely presentation style. If you are ever in Arizona, please let us know! Best wishes ~ Julie & Lucy ❤❤
I tip TaskRabbit and the grocery delivery person, but that’s all online. I am not allowed to tip building maintenance. And none of them will even accept a glass of ice water from me. It’s just get in, do the job and move on.
They mentioned about Arizona for seeing stars. Arizona is considered a "dark state" because outside of the big cities they actively limit outdoor lights that shine upward to keep the surroundings darker. On our property, when it gets dark you cant see past arms length.
Tucson AZ we do have the best sky it's hypnotizing
Yeah, I agree. I miss Tucson, AZ sky (in Ohio now. I love Ohio but do miss southern AZ sometimes especially the desert sky).
Potholes everywhere, Unfinished construction. uneven roads, often with no shoulders. and just in poor condition, for the most part
Texas is very fortunate to have such a strong and versatile economy.
20:05 Walker Texas Ranger. That is a classic TV show. We watched it all the time as a family.
From Arizona and i agree with these gals about the beauty of our state, from dessert to 12000 foot high mountains, quite a place to live.
California has at least seven distinct regions. Start with NorCal v. SoCal.
Typically the trades don't expect a tip but it happens sometimes.
I enjoy any accent. Yours included 👍
My work partner was from New York City and sometimes I needed a translator.
These two are the embodiment of the Pigeon sisters from the Odd Couple original movie!
They're the cutest!
OMG yes!
Come to Massachusetts Andre. We have a huge community of Portuguese and Azorean people. Lowell, New Bedford, and Fall River are great cities for Portuguese food and Culture. If you end up in Lowell, i can show you around
Walker Texas Ranger
Yeah i liked that show growing up my mom would watch it. I always wanted his truck 21:24
Go Wildcats! These ladies are wearing U of Arizona swag. Watching from Tucson.
I am living in Arizona, and I love it. It does have a lot of open spaces and I love the Grand Canyon.
Usually mothers and daughters do know each other well.
You don't tip the trades people that come to your house.
Maybe YOU don’t….
@@BillLaBrie Don't know anyone who tips a plumber. Do you?
@ of course I do. It’s fairly common.
These two are endearing. I liked their video.
I love hearing accents. When I hear someone with an accent, it primarily tells me that this is a person with a different life experience from mine, and that will always make me interested in getting to know more about them.
Don’t drop an electrically connected item in the water or you will get a big zap. Or it unalive’s you.
Yes, having been in sales which enabled me to travel to to the majority of States, they ARE unique!
The
skycap at the airport, the bellboy at the higher end hotel, type of stuff. places like Manhattan, they tip a lot more. There are variables. I hope this helps
I live in southern Arizona in the middle of the desert. Coyotes, road runners, rattlesnakes and summer monsoons. It's quite the experience.
States can be regional as well... I am in the San Francisco bay area.. within a 4 hr drive, I can be on the coast, in the mountains, the redwood forests and a little even a desert region. And the climate from northern California and southern Ca can be very different as well
Don't Say that We love your accent too! It's charming in its own way! honestly we love all accents they're all very endearing! 🥰
I’m not from AZ, but agree completely regarding the Grand Canyon. Exceeded my expectations.
I'm from Arizona, lived here my whole life it's very beautiful up north some much to see and do here as well as every other state.
I live in Tucson Arizona. It is very nice. Best sunsets in the world.
