We thoroughly enjoy your videos. The format is very interesting and is complimented by the beautiful landscape. The family interaction also adds to the experience. Best wishes from Shoalhaven Coast NSW Oz.
If only the algorithm knew that if you didn't skin that lamb there would be two dead instead of one. It's a part of sheep farming. You're doing a great thing with this channel mate so keep on. Cheers
Hi, we all enjoy your videos, even the jack russell, we have small beef finishing farm at Omamari on the west coast of Northland, keep up the great work.
Hello from Yorkshire, Uk. Found your channel last year or year before when I was looking for fencing tips, watched all your videos since and went back and watched your old ones too. Fantastic channel! I like seeing how similar you do things yet other bits you do differently. Keep up with the videos mate.
Seeing yo do the lamb skin trick gave me the confidence to give it a go this year. So far we have had three successes from three attempts. Look forward to another video. The whole family likes to sit at the breakfast bar watching together.
By far the best farming channel on youtube! Great information and always very entertaining. Thanks Alister! Great to see Dad helping out while learning new skills at the same time! Hope Genna has a well deserved break!
Good stuff as always Alastair. Enjoyed the lambing videos, think you did the right thing showing the ups and downs of farming life that we all have to go through. Keep at it. All the best from the UK
Loved the channel for yonks now, from Clifton Hill. Lived on Robert+Joanne Judson's farm at Glentui for a few years back in the 90s. Love the area. Bagged a fair few trout between the gorge and Lee's.
Very informative video. It will be very interesting to see the results in a few days' time. All the best from a freezing Oxford (UK). Winter has come early this year!!
just down the road in woodend!...i was in oxford a while back and ya passed on by while i was parked up waiting to start first job!..ha!..love ya work!
Just thought id throw up a comment up to help out. I Always enjoy catching up with what you've been upto on farm I've learnt alot from your videos you do a bloody good job managing your farm and doing the TH-cam thing ontop. listing in from Tasmania.
Hi Alastair, small world hearing you mention Blairgowrie. That’s roughly where I’m watching from. Had our first frost this morning, waaaayyy too early!!! That’s like you getting them in March roughly. Still a lot of crops to be harvested, a shocking year!! Lived in Queenstown for 9 years and moved back here in 2022 for a spell. Heading back to the South Island next year but not back to the tourist trap. Really enjoy your vids, keep at it. 👍🏻
Gday Alister. Chris from Clare in South Australia. Keep up with the good work. Love the videos. Thanks for keeping it real with lambing, it happens we all go through losses.
Awesome Alistair, wife and I absolutely LOVE your videos. We're in Dairy Flat, AKL on only 3 hectares - nothing on the scale you have, but thoroughly enjoy watching! Gooooo KIWIs
Many thanks for giving a townie such a comprehensive description of what and why .. tis much appreciated!! The best channel - always waiting for the next vid
It's quite amusing to see you one day in (hoodie and days later in shorts and t-shirt) . . . the space between seasons is swift . . . here In Cape Breton, we've lost about two hours of sunlight already and the journey between fall to winter is, mid -September up to early mid- December, then winter all the way to March . . . one would not be wearing shorts or T-shirts during this time. Spring is late March to early June . . . again no shorts or T-shirts. With the wicked . . . last winter . . . as a man your dad's age, I am already dreading the change in seasons. Always enjoy your videos, cheers.
Driving past your gate most Sundays at the moment to kayak or packraft the lower Ashley gorge while it has water in it. It's been a lean year so far for flow so gotta take advantage while we can.
Always good to see you. Worked at Massey, a long time ago, doing trials about identifying and overcoming cobalt deficiency. Now years later... Always good to see your toil and your vid's.
Alistair's dad here. We farmed north of kimbolton from 1974 to2008. We could not get lambs to grow when we went there and worked with Cliff Martin from the Romney survey in Feilding. He put us in contact with Neil Bruere at Massey who actually was dad's vet in north Canterbury when he started farming there after WW2. Working with him and others we discovered a cobalt deficiency and over the years rectified it with annual dressings of cobaltised fertiliser. Worked with Neil and Dave West and others from the vet school for many years with practicals for students and a lot of trial work.
It turns out that the previous owners of the farm could not get hoggets ro grow either so had another farm at Woodville where they were taken as lambs and grown out there to 2tooth stage when they were bought back for their first lambing.
@@kiwifarmernz That was in the late 70s. At that stage we were testing the sheep, looking for levels. We were able to find out when a farm could take a break from throwing more cobalt around so we received some good funding from a large operation.
Hi from Timaru currently in Kerikeri. Really enjoy your videos Not easy for you guys. Current economic news seems positive for a recovery. Hope so because you have a great product.
Hi Alistair. It’s cold and wet in UK, crops emerging really slowly. I’m now calling it the ‘wet’ and the ‘dry’ as we don’t seem to get seasons anymore (The ‘wet’ lasts about 10months !) Here is a quiz for ya.... Barley is selling at £150 (about a 30 year low) and reasonable store lambs are upwards of £ 120-130/hd .......take a wild guess at which I have to sell and which I need to buy....🤪 That is soooo farming eh. Haven’t watched vid yet, but hope you get the grass moving. Have a good day 🐾
Great videos. Farming is life and death or as they say now "It is what it is " Keep up the good work from an ex farmer in Scotland. Most interesting programmes. What has happened to your Rugger. We have our fingers crossed that next time we will beat you ! Best wishes.
I love watching your videos. we have a small farm 5 minutes out from pukeuri Oamaru. I am 17 and I love to be out on big farms.
