Excellent video, sir! I jotted down notes as I put you on pause. It took longer to take notes than it did to solve my problem. The world needs more people like you!
Great vid but wonder if it can help with this particular anomaly after re-engaging? : Mine's a brand new garage door... I re-engaged the part that pulls back the garage door but it the door is only half closing?! i.e. I note the travelling white part (that engages the black metal mechanism part of the door) is stopping about two feet away from where it should - hence the door no longer shutting / leaving a three foot gap. I definitely haven't broken anything but that white part refuses to travel back to it's original position. I'll try the advice but any help is welcome before I try tomorrow...!
My problem was not included in either video, so I thought I would mention it. The curved arm that attaches the trolley track to the garage door has two bolts/nuts on my door. I did not realize that one of the bolts had fallen out. The arm was no longer straight and it ended up literally pushing the top of the garage door down at it's top instead of "pushing" the door down from the point where it is mounted. Then, the mounting point where the manual release is attached came loose. I found the original bolt and added a new nut and then re-affixed the locking portion into the base where it locks.......this solved the problem. The garage door was stopping about a foot or more above the ground because it was just pushing the garage door down from the top. Hope this helps.
That is definitely the ultimate goal, to help others! When someone tells me a video helped them it is a really good feeling. Thank you very much for that feedback!
Amazing video - easy to understand and it closed my garage door completely. I think my door was open quite a bit so had to use almost 3 turns to make it close. But yes the method shown in video works
Thanks so much for you well done video! My issue was related to the force of the door going down not being high enough so it would stop and then go back up. I would have to press the button to stop it from going all the way back up and then press it again to have it go all the way down. Sometimes I would have to do this several times and on occasion hold the button down while it went down to force it down. I turned up the force button and it seems to be working. The real issue is that my door opener was not as clearly labeled as yours in the video so seeing your video help me figure out the force button and turn it up. Thanks so much!
You hitthe nail on the head. Suddenly I have mice. Started looking on how their getting in. And sure enough there's a gap at the bottom of the garage door. Thanks for the info.
Thank you so much. My door has this exact problem. Your video made me confident to fix the problem and not call a repair tech for a charge of $50 bucks again. 😊
Literally the problem i encountered today. I watched so many videos and all of them just saying about the trip laser and mine doesn't even have that 😂 ty!!!
be carefull because one side of my opener had force controls and i accidentily adjusted that the first time. Then rewatched the video and saw that the other side of my opener had the limits and fixed my problem. THANKS!
I have a 1 inch gap that I can't get the door to close. I have adjusted the down limits and increased the force. I am at the point that if I adjust the close limit it will open back up due to the force, but it stops at an inch above the floor. I can disconnect the door and it will fully close and the travel on the chain will go past the fully shut limit. I have turned the force to the point it should not allow it to open back up. Not sure how to fix.
Thank you so much! I was scared to sleep tonight with my garage door ajar. I had already opened the gun case b/c I was going to need to keep my revolver out!!! You helped tremendously!
Mine recently started going down to about 1 ft open, then going back up like it hit something..but sometimes it works. Does the connector that slides back and forth on the track have any sort of plastic or teflon sliders in it that help with friction that could be worn? I've fiddled with all the adjustments, but unless I "help" the door down, it will often stop and go back up. Seems to do better in the cold. When I disconnect and operate the door manually, it seems to be fine (and the spring is newer). So I feel it's the track or the opener itself.
My garage goes down all the way, then it goes back up. Happens with the remote as well as the fixed operator. No lights flashing. What’s happening here? It’s been working perfectly, only 2 years old,
My garage door stops at random heights several times. I have to press the remote several times to fully close the door. Is this also related to the Close Limit?
If it's just stopping at random points, it is not the close limit. I believe it's the sensor. The sensor is probably low on batteries or it's messed up and it would maybe be why your garage stops. Not 100% sure tho.
Good video, bottom seal was replaced and now the garage door does not close all the way - closed at bottom but not tight enough to close at the top against the weatherstripping. Willl this adjustment fix that? Thanks,
mine is going almost all the way down and then reversing direction. Nothing is blocking the infrared light. Should I make the force close stronger or lubricate the rollers?
good for this problem. mine is, the craftsman door comes down very close to sensor level and goes back without light warning. I checked the sensors and cleaned and well aligned. Note this happens one time and when you again closes it , it closes. Can you help, why this strange happenings.
Had a snow shovel handle keep the garage door from closing, got left there by mistake. And after removing the shovel, garage door was wedged. Seemed like the plastic track where the garage release pull got adjusted as well . Is this a common fix down in this video for my issue?
Thanks for the video. Also, Genie opener has buttons to set OPEN/CLOSE limit next to SET < >buttons. You can quickly press and release the "Close Travel Limit" button to move the door in small increments. Once the door is in the desired position, press and release the "SET" > button for 5 seconds and it will store position in the memory.
I know that this video is a few years old, however it was perfect timing for myself. My garage door problem was opposite of yours, it was closing to far down and buckling. Thank you for your help as I didn’t know what was causing this issue but your video made the fix, literally 30 seconds and it works 💯 all I did was the opposite of what you did and whammy perfecto… 👍🏼Thanks again, ArmyJohn 🇺🇸🫡
We have an opener that closes just fine most of the time but "occasionally" stops going down to where it the door is 1 ft. off the ground. Would those adjustments fix this problem?
After new concrete I have a gap at the top when the garage door is closed. This is the manual single car garage door with a low overhead track. I’m thinking I’ll have to raise the track?
My garage door gets almost down, approx. 2 feet from the floor and reverses and goes all the way back up. If I stand outside and apply pressure to the door with my hands to keep it from shaking it will close properly. Do I need to tighten the springs? Thanks a lot.
What about for people with manual garage doors not going all the way down?? I know know get a garage door opener. Detached garage with no electric (yet). Two car garage, previous springs broke due to rust and unable to determine door weight because markings on springs were faded off due to age.
Hopefully this was helpful! If this wasn't your particular situation and your door isn't closing much, if at all, then check this video out next. In it I cover some of the main reasons why a garage door won't close and how to fix them th-cam.com/video/bn1MIRsfl5E/w-d-xo.html
My shop door 16’x10’ high opens fine but sometimes when I close it, it gets within about 6” of closing completely and goes open. Doesn’t happen all the time. Nothing blocking the safety sensors. Little help?
Thank you. This helped my situation some, but I still have an issue with it going all the way down and I have reached the limit on setting the adjustment. Mine is actually a wingnut and not a screw. And I took the wing that almost all the way out and it’s still not totally closed. I wondered if I adjusted the open it could help compensate and have it go down further?
Mine only has the up and down arrow. I have this issue and have no idea what to do. Tried adjusting the down limit by pressing the down arrow all the way until it stopped at my desired spot, didn’t work.
Excellent video, sir! I jotted down notes as I put you on pause. It took longer to take notes than it did to solve my problem. The world needs more people like you!

simplier than i thought thanks

Worked for me thx

Mine only has the up and down arrow. I have this issue and have no idea what to do. Tried adjusting the down limit by pressing the down arrow all the way until it stopped at my desired spot, didn’t work.
Great video though!
Thanks!!
No problem!
