The building with the clock is the famous Wrigley Building. The building with the angled, diamond shape top is the Crain Communications Building. Thanks for filming. Miss it being 7K miles away.

I have been to Chicago many times. And the most touristy thing I love to do is take the architectural boat tour! It’s a lot of fun for the money. And you become very knowledgeable about the city and its history. I would highly recommend it.

The gap along the sidewalk, or crack as you described it is an expansion joint. Most of downtown Chicago has multiple street levels, the entire city was raised up in the late 1900's, buildings and everything, to build sewers and to lift the downtown area far enough above the river to avoid flooding. The expansion joint is there to allow the elevated structures to flex a little when temperatures fluctuant up and down.

The story of the reversal of the flow of the Chicago River is very interesting. Also, the Eastland disaster on that river. Dave Matthew's bus dropped a load of waste through the grates on one of the bridges and it fell onto a tour boat. My godfather lived in one of Marina Towers, the circular corn cob buildings. April 23 marks 20 years since Wilco released Yankee Hotel Foxtrot featuring Marina Towers on the cover.

*The Chicago Centennial Wheel is 200 ft tall. It's also the tallest Ferris Wheel on a Pier. LOL! The tallest Ferris Wheel in the US is the "High Roller" Ferris Wheel at 550 ft tall. It's the 2nd tallest Ferris Wheel in the world and the tallest in the Americas. (The London Eye is 443 ft in comparison) Chicago is also the birthplace of the very first-ever "official" Ferris Wheel. It was also the first mega-sized Ferris Wheel at a whopping 264 ft. (It also featured the first Thomas Eddison Light Bulbs as the Wheel was built for the 1893 World's Columbian Exposition)*
*Yes, Chicago had it first. Also, the Ferris Wheel in Branson Missouri was the former Navy Pier Wheel. It's 150 ft tall. So the current Chicago Centennial wheel is taller and climate-controlled, unlike the Branson Wheel.* 🎡
*Chicago by the way is also the railroad capital of North America. All tracks in the continent lead to Chicago. Chicago is the center of the world's largest railroad network.* 🚂 😎

The worlds first Ferris wheel was unveiled at the Chicago worlds fair of 1893. Is he going to Wrigley? This is so cool - in the 1960's my gramma used to pack me and my brother and cousin up on the train from LaSalle (about 100 miles away) and we used to go to the games at Comiskey and Wrigley. We used to also make an annual trip to Chicago at Christmas for the Ice Follies out at the Armory. FUNNY story - so the follies was created by the Shipstads. Eddie and Roy... so Roy Shipstad was my husband's god father and good friends (obviously) with my father-in-law. Also Chicago tales of gramma and her watching Roller Derby on Saturday nights when my parents went to Chicago for a show. I remember her vividly yelling at the derby on TV - "that God-d*&)& Eddie Krebbs!" Eddie was a Derby STAR in the 60's-70's and a notorious cranky bad guy. So 2010, I'm in a bar in Castro Valley, CA, and who is sitting next to me chatting me up but Mr. Eddie Krebbs. I ghost wrote a book about derby for him for his grandkids, and got to meet ALL the derby folks and the stars and even Jerry Seltzer, who was Leo - the founders- son. They also started their shows in the Armory etc... and yep - they all knew my father-in-law, who was the Chief Steward on the Matson Great White Ships in the 40's-70's. Crazy stories. They all knew each other. I knew none of them and they ALL came by way of this weird memory of my gramma cartin us kids up to Chicago on the train. And where did all this happen, you may wonder? Why in San Francisco, of course. And after leaving Illinois in 1966, I grew up in Florida very near to where Adam lives. I worked as a character at Disney my very first job. I feel like I know Adam because we travel the same routes - it's amazing I've never run into him! LOL! You absolutely never know who you're going to meet. I think that's why I love Adam's channel so much. He knows. It's almost NEVER what you think it will be and if you have the humor to both see it and laugh about it, it's life's divine comedy.

There are many boat tour companies on the Chicago River, so some may have still been running that late. If you take one, and I highly recommend you do, take the Chicago Architecture Center tour. They are a non-profit and have excellent docents who do the tours. It gives you a great perspective on the years of different architecture in the city from a vantage point you can only get from the water. Don't let this little dusting of snow this morning slow you down. Going to be 80 degrees on Saturday here! Can't wait to see you at Wrigley. Go explore around the neighborhood there, lots more to see than at the Sox games. Great weekend vlog guys, thanks.

The water taxis are great ways to get around! Every time I'm on a layover at Union Station I cross the street to the Taxi and go out to the Pier to have some fun. Yep the architectural tour is wonderful!

White Sox still took the series! 👍
Also, very brave roaming Downtown……especially lower Wacker in this day & age, it used to be nice but not anymore and I live here and I wouldn’t go Downtown for all the tea in China. 😳

Enjoy Wrigley Field Adam and the boys. And just when you are leaving town we are going to be almost 80 next weekend

I am from Chicago but I am a Cubs fan so I am glad the Rays won. Plus I have been a Rays fan since their debut as well.
