      Thanks! It’s the center piece of 1084 sandwiched In between the two stacks of biased forged W’s. Then it’s forge welded, turned vertically and forged square. Then it’s forged on a bias to make the 1084 form an S in the end bar. Then it’s cut into tiles and ferry flipped to alternate the S shape and weave throughout the final bar. 😁

    1:11 I don't know why metal workers don't use crosscut sleds to cut through stacks of metal evenly?
    2:48 Silly question, is there a way to operate this machine upside down so your material isn't moving all over the place?
    Where did you buy your handle material? It's stunning! Great looking knife BTW!

    • @TonySeverioKnives
      @TonySeverioKnives  ปีที่แล้ว

      It has to do with saving space for me and for simple small scale projects its not necessary. When I worked in big fab shops we used shears that were much more effective and faster than a crosscut sled. But it was a giant shop with a giant shear.
      Yes you can run them upside down but then it has to be taller….need more room above. This is the best fit for my shop and a lot of smiths set them up this way for that reason.
      I can’t remember where I got the handle material. I have a lot of older stuff saved for projects that may come along like this.
      Thanks for the kind words and thanks for watching! 😁

I was very curious how you made those wavy pattern and I didn't expect such great and creative way! Nice work Tony! I like the blade shape- very unusual in real but very common in PC games! Does the kerosene act as a flux?

    • @TonySeverioKnives
      @TonySeverioKnives  ปีที่แล้ว

      It does a couple things. When it goes into the forge it burns off and leaves a carbon/soot layer to help prevent any exposure from scaling. It also helps flux stick while it’s cold before sticking it into the forge.
