What a beautiful, charming, down-to-earth village! This video and its folksy, avuncular narration go a long way to genuinely reveal the sights, sounds, characters and defining day-to-day vignettes that embody a small coastal village spirit. It's a wonderful peek into another world, thank you very much for this slice-of-life view of Vernazza!
We are leaving for Cinque Terre in about a month. This video was very helpful, especially the information about the stairs leading up to the viewing spot. Thank you for that! Also, thank you for all the cats. Part of the fun of our trips to Italy is photographing the cats.
I'm going to Italy (and France) in August with my sisters and we plan to spend at least a day here in Cinque Terre. I've really appreciated your videos on these villages. As was already mentioned by somebody else, your enthusiasm when filming is so great. Thanks for the videos!
I really enjoyed watching this. IDK when I would go there but loved learning about the ins and outs of the little village. I would one day like to try Italian pasta hoping its not as bad as USA boxed spaghetti!
Great video, thanks. Was this filmed recently? I only ask because I was there in September 2012, and have film of that very same cat at 5.40! I recognised it straight away, and had to compare my own film to check the markings were the same. I have some funny film of it also sitting in a boat, where it jumped out of its skin when there was a clatter from behind me, hehe. This vid brought back some great memories, and yes that little hike is well worth the views over the town!
ha h ah a i like the way you narrate and describe your videos so full of enthusiasm and natural..would u say that amongst the 5 lands, the vernazza is the most picturesque and scenic? planning to come in early september was thinking it would still be on the warmer side..and do an aerial video shot of the towns.thanks :)
Thanks very much for that...enthusiastic and natural is me. Yes I would say Vernazza is most picturesque, and best restaurants, and an easy 10-minute trail going above town to give fine panorama view. The other four villages are also wonderful. Aerial video would be exciting, just don't crash in the water.
I'm thinking of visiting this place for photography. That stairway to get the view, would you say its safe enough at night to walk up. I can only imagine how good the night view is from there.
Kam Cheng I would not do it at "night" because the night view would be pretty dark anyway. Maybe early twilight would be fine for the pictures, like anyplace, but you need to be careful, especially coming down when it is darker -- no lights on the pathway. You can see in the video it is a steep and narrow path, but if you go slowly, maybe with flashlight, you should be OK.
1. Watch the following quirky tourist TH-cam on the Cinque Terre to get a visual feel for this region: th-cam.com/video/baRJEOFQnYM/w-d-xo.html (12 minutes) 2. Describe the location of the Cinque Terre region within Italy 3. Why does this region attract both local and foreign tourists? 4. How do visitors travel to and within this area? 5. How was the land of this region used prior to the 1970’s? 6. Comment on the scale and duration of tourist visits to this region. 7. How do day and overnight visitors differ in what they do in this region?

Are you a tour guide? You have such a clear voice would make a really great one hehe.
yes, been leading tours to Europe (from my home in Hawaii) for 30 years, shooting video always.

Saludos a filippo
If I wanted the picture from above, would I need to pay the hiking fee?
No, that is a short hike up and down the same way.

Do you need to purchase a Cinque Terre card to walk up the other side of the hill for the view of Vernazza?
No, the short walk is free.
Excellent video but too much cats!
MEOW! I gatti sono meravigliosi!
