Tarzan was still a famous "superhero" when I was a kid. He was in a new show with Ron Elie(not sure of the spelling), on Sunday afternoons with Weismuller (in fact it was these two that I still picture when reading about them), comics, Saturday morning cartoons, paperbacks (even Philip Jose Farmer's crossovers), and even (for many) a much-loved Mego figure. Amazing to think how Tarzan, Buck Rogers, Green Hornet, and Flash Gordon are near forgotten nowadays. Nice to see Darkhorse adding to the works.
The comic strip version had some very talented artists: Burne Hogarth, Russ Manning, Hal Foster (who later created Prince Valiant), Bob Lubbers, Gray Morrow.
Fun Fact Tarzan Author Edgar Rice Burroughs Actually had the first Tarzan Adaptation made because he wanted a shitty public domain film that people would see and because of that Tarzan became a Pop Culture Icon for a long ass time and I mean a long ass Time too
Rarely does any history of Tarzan include Filmation's cartoon version. Full marks! It was my first intro to the ape man and still one of my favorites! Fun fact: The voice of Tarzan in the Filmation version was Robert Ridgely but the iconic call he used was voiced by Danton Burroughs, grandson of the original author, Edgar Rice Burroughs.
@alfredeneuman-l5r Yes! I missed that one as a child but caught them later. I did catch Bob Ridgely as another of my favorites, Thundarr The Barbarian. 😁
Unless I've missed it, I didn't hear or see one of the very best Tarzan versions mentioned : The animated series from Filmation studios : "Tarzan Lord of the Jungle" (1976-1979 -36 episodes) By the way, the name is Weissmuller, not Weismiller 😏
I actually liked Cheetah. In addition to providing comedy relief, There were many situations in which Cheetah would help rescue Tarzan whenever he got captured by the bad guys. In fact Cheetah saved Tarzan's life more than once.
I really liked Greystoke the Legend of Tarzan.

The only comic version I was unaware of was the Idaho book. That would be cool to get hold of. I cover Tarzan comics all the time.

Wish someone would bring Tarzan back.
The Skarsgard film was a Complete Disaster.
GREYSTOKE THE LEGEND OF TARZAN is the best film version so far

7:10 in I mentioned the Filmation version
@@kevingiven3463 Thanks, I stand corrected.😏
You didn't mention Mike Henry.
He did though
5:05 in I mentioned Jock Mahoney and Mike Henry
Mike Henry played Tarzan in Three Movies.
He was also Jackie Gleason's Dumb Son in the Smokey and The Bandit films.
@@alfredeneuman-l5r I mention Henry in this video.
I'm Honestly Surprised that the FACT that Mike Henry, Who was "The James Bond of TARZANS" was COMPLETELY Overlooked and Ignoted in this Tarzan Video!
Watch it again, I mention him a few minutes in
However, since several people want more on Mike Henry, I will do a video on Jock Mahoney and Mike Henry.
Disney version sucked 70s cartoon best animated.version..tarzan was.intelligent and their was no cheetah in the.books.
