It doesn't matter if you won based on the requirements set by Shane Ishatthebed. You got challenged for a stupid reason ("you're not allowed to criticize something unless you can do better" is the stupidest thing ever), actually accept it, and provide something close enough to the set requirements WITHIN A WEEK. It doesn't matter if Shane will give you the win. You already won. He was dumb enough to engage with someone he could've easily ignored, and did it in such a manner that it will forever draw the wrong kind of attention.

Honestly? I wouldn't say that Callum has won. Callum won what exactly? Prove that Earth 2 is a scam? Which will result in it likely crashing and burning?
Callum doesn't really win with that. Sure, he achieves a lot of good with it, but it isn't really a win for him, I'd say.
What would have been a real win for Callum is if Shane had pulled out all stops and just dropped a mind-blowing piece of demo for Earth 2 that would have shut any critics up forever.
Because if Earth 2 is genuine, then nobody wins with it failing. If Earth 2 is a scam, while it failing helps people, it's still not leading to Callum winning much of anything.
What really happened here is Shane lost. The moment he made the argument that even the internet's cesspits tend to ridicule for being too weak to amount to anything, Shane has lost. When Callum has delievered anything even 1% of what Shane claims he already had, Shane has already lost hard. But Callum had no real win condition here; Except Shane manning up, paying out the 10k$ and improving Earth 2 to be better. But that was at best a pipe dream.

I don't think Callum genuinely wants to see Earth 2 crash and burn; Not unless they genuinely show themselves to be completely dishonest; For which the evidence is mounting, but it's a hard call without a smoking gun.
I do recall Dreamworld coming to a similar spot, yet the devs of that seem to have gone on the path of redemption, so... That last bit is hardly accurate.

No one is looking out for the little guy, our institutions can't seem to protect or handle online & crypto spaces, so this type of collaboration is our last best hope. It's incredibly low of Shane to turn this into a charity giveaway as a distraction for his petty plan backfiring, but we all knew Callum wasn't getting that money anyway. People like Shane see charity as a get out of jail free card and as little more than tax deductible PR for their businesses. Let's all make sure to hold him accountable for that $10k.
I cant stand all of these "influencers" who do charity streams and act like theyre the next coming of Jesus. You really wanna be a philanthropist? Then go give all that money away in cash without letting the world know thru social media and without getting it back through taxes. They wont donate sh*t then! I'm no Earth 2 guy, but if that guy does give 10k to charity as a result of the challenge , he has lived up to his side of the bargain (sort of) - when he issued the challenge he did say he'd give the money to Callum or to a charity of his choosing. I do believe he's probably only doing it out of PR necessity, but he's not inserting the charity angle after the fact.
I like how all this is about is the gamers asking The E2 company to prove what they say and they just refuse then get shocked at why no-one is trusting them.
They did a couple of days ago as progress, Callum obviously bypassed that though as it doesn’t fit his M.O.

Shane, in his own likes, has noted games with poor graphics but with good gameplay that gets gamers hooked- which is what he has promised, but not shown and what gamers are asking, because Shane says this is a game and gamers want proof of a game. They want *gameplay* footage.

The idea that all publicity is good is a myth. When “bad” publicity helps someone it’s because the publicity wasn’t actually bad.
But there are plenty of celebrities who got ruined when their misdeeds became known, while gamers and movie fans are notorious for destroying creators when they feel cheated or let down.

Agreed, unless you're already too big to fail like EA, the gaming industry is 100% an industry where bad publicity will ruin them. Gamers will band together and make sure the bad deeds stick. Like you said, that quote is a complete myth. I don't remember any situation where bad publicity netted a positive outcome in any situation.
The saying "No news is bad news" has two meanings to it. First, that you not having any news is bad, and second that there is no such thing as bad news.
The reality is that both are *technically* true, but *only* if you are competent. Someone who is competent at handling the news can make a bad story help them. What they *can't* do is turn no news into growth. Thus, even doing silly things to get you news can be useful.
The problem is that if you don't have the skillset to take advantage of news, good or bad, news isn't likely to help you.
I mean, it might have some validity to a company that's producing real products that people actually want to own for said products' own merits. After all, there's been an entire advertising strategy basically built off manufacturing controversy (often of a politically-loaded nature) to provoke discussion about them. However, it's definitely not true for companies attempting to scam unsuspecting people out of their money. If your entire plan for making a profit is to peddle worthless garbage, people spreading the news that your garbage is worthless is definitely going to cut into your bottom line.

Literally *every* step of the way, Shane/Earth 2 could have said nothing. They wouldn't have given a much bigger platform to those who speak out about his nonsense. Even if he just made a bland PR statement about whatever issues arise. Now he just repeatedly shows how unprofessional and delusional he is, risking losing his remaining fans while winning none back to his side.

I totally agree! I had a small rant about this in a recent video. If Shane has a PR manager or something to that affect, they aren't doing a good job keeping him in check. And he should listen. There was no way he could win PR wise by issuing a challenge like this. What happened was the worst possible outcome and he continues to make it worse. And oh, this feud and challenge is how I heard about Earth 2.

I'll give you one piece of advice Callum, if Shane and you talk, have him agree to have the conversation recorded but not to be publicised. I wouldn't be surprised if he might end up twisting back after the call and be like "Ooooh, Callum said this!" to make you look bad and if you don't have any evidence well... It's a you vs them scenario.

As I stated in your previous video on this. You winning or losing meant nothing. You proved that a single dev could do that much while their "team" of devs and a year an a half of time have "kinda" that, proved that they are a scam. They lost. The challenge meant nothing. The perception after the fact meant everything.
And Callum's map looked more like something from an actual game. He zoomed fully in, you can imagine a player standing near some bush or tree there. The recent E2 videos don't even have trees or bushes or rocks that could be individiually identified as such, it's literally just textured terrain/bland geometry with rough bumps for forests.
E2 released a video recently with more in-engine location showcases including georeferencing using Google Earth. And while it doesn't look ugly per-se the problem persists that it's kinda zoomed out far and that it won't be super relevant in this form unless they are planning to make an isometric/bird's eye view game. But my impression is that neither Shane nor the E2 community can fully agree what will come out in the end, it's all so blurry and vague still.
@@Lenariet Shane literally said there is an up close and distant terrain engine. There is old footage of the up close engine if you want to look on the E2 channel. Their idea is bridging both engines in their platform

I think what Shane and the E2 community need to realize is that we don't hate them, there is not a conspiracy against them. The issues we have can be broken down to 2 main things - 1) E2 is promising something that can not be delivered. A real time simulation of the ENTIRE planet, with RDR2 level graphics, for many thousands of players - The Matrix - Ready Player 1... it can not be done. The technology doesn't exist yet, and won't for many years.
2) They are already selling land, for a game that does not exist yet. Gems, resources, holographic buildings - for land, for a game, that does not exist yet. By all accounts, they were selling stuff long before serious development on the game portion had even begun.
A small start-up isn't going to make something bigger and more complex than the largest MMOs out there. If E2 had only promised something more realistic, we wouldn't be so critical of the project.

I mean yeah I agree if he says something happened he should show proof, but in terms of online death threats they are super easy to fake so the receipts would kind of mean nothing. Especially considering his fanatical following he has access to many accounts of people willing to assist him in that.
In their demo what stuck out to me is that they used high speed movement as a wow factor... But as a computer science graduate and in dev space for few years now I can 100% say that if you speed through something that means you are not confident in that piece of the project or it doesn't work as described and you want to hide it.
Shane is delusional. He doesn't know how to make a game, he doesn't know about 3D VR stuff and he doesn't know how to lead or design such project. It's just his ego trying to be the next big thing in IT space.
Exactly, it’s not very difficult to fly past “highly detailed” terrain at a few hundred thousand kmh. As if anyone will be doing that in the game anyway. With modern software solutions being able to do that easily, going that fast is really just a test of how fast your machine is.
The real test would be a moderate zoom from space down to a few meters off the ground at multiple places in the world.
Flight Sims have been streaming in the world for decades. Heck, even Minecraft streams in chunks.

There are 2 type of fans of Earth 2: the overly naive who think it'll actually end up being a popular game and those who actually want it to be a pyramid scheme... they just think as an early investor, they'll make the money while people coming in later will be the losers (I assume this is the majority but I don't know for sure). That's basically how 99% of new crypto shit works. People don't give 2 crap about the fluff, they only care about buying in early so if (I repeat IF) at least some of the wild promises will come true and the price will skyrocket then they can cash out.

I can't lie, I invested into Earth2 but i fully regret it. I feel like to the CEO cares more about being right or at least trying to be right or to win an argument rather than improving the actual flipping product. Making petty response videos to individual critics??? A whole CEO? That is frankly embarrassing.

They're still vision-boarding the game part of it. They implemented the part they were really gearing for though; the monetization factor
if they ever realize any kind of gameplay, it will be most likely a very shallow and extremely empty flying around experience, maybe seeing those holobuilding of pla....I mean, tile owners.
And being a flight sim enthusiast, that sounds so boring and irrelevant. Gameplay that revolves around simple moving, has to either have an extremely engaging way of moving around and/or a very engaging world to view.
Just WASD'ing your away around a physics free, auto generated, almost void of objects kind of world is the opposite of engaging.

Went to their site a week ago or so (Nobody has purchased my house, so I won't be kicked out!!), there is no 3D anywhere to be seen. Actually, the site looks the same as the 1st time I saw it a year back or so.

Callum I think I can identify what video the Earth 2 Devs used for there entire build it's called "Painting a Landscape using Mathematics" their execution is horrible but I've been doing terrain generation for upwards of 4 years now and the similarities between E2's "Proprietary Technology" and this video is uncanny, and it's honestly sad how bad there butchered it though, like it honestly shows that the E2 devs don't even have a high school level of understanding in mathematics

Great video. Only concern is saying it now looks like MSFS (which as a daily player, it really doesn't. Maybe older gen) but that could likely be taken out of context so easily to be a positive given how many posts are made weekly of real life vs flight sim photos with mostly wrong answers in comments.

Minor critique: your "bounce rate" argument at the end does not really follow. Those that bounced would not know it was a spreadsheet, because they did not click anything. The break between expectations and reality is at least a click in. Bounce rates usually indicate a poorly targeted ad or landing page friction. Otherwise great video! Kudos.

If you get that one-to-one chat. You should ask him how is he going to handle the astronomical amount of data that is being sent. An open-world that is constantly changing and with the high-end graphics that he wanted can't be small on that bandwidth.

I think their video was so choppy because they sped up the playback. It has all the hallmarks of being rendered choppily and then just sped up in postprocessing.

Asmongolds response was particularly interesting to me as he's a former scam artist himself and often talks about the psychology involved in conning people. He's far from being an expert in most subjects but he really seems to know what he talking about when it comes the art of manipulating people out of their money and digital goods.
What did Asmongold used scam? He’s gained quite a bit of wisdom these last few years.
He's still got a bit of a god complex going on but sure it's good when notable figures speak out against other notable figures.
@@MichaelPohoreski He tends to not get into specifics when it comes to his past experience with IRL scams and mainly sticks to talking about the methodology behind there execution. He's much more open about talking about how he used to scam and steal in WoW though.

I think it's worth noting that their website's bounce rate doesn't sound overly high, frankly. A few points higher than average but probably not egregious. Not a metric to judge how credible they are. Now, everything ELSE about what they're doing...
So I haven't watched this full series. But are the earth 2 devs just using the 'worldscape' plugin from the UE4 store? This is my first time seeing that cinematic and it looked exactly like that plugin
If I remember correctly a lot of it was based on mapbox, per previous videos.

Would it be possible to point me in the direction for some videos or guides on how to start learning?
Hey, it all depends, it is hard to say "oh yeah go here learn this" it's not that easy. There are so many programming languages and game engines it's hard to say which one you should do. If all you want is to make games, i would say learn Unity or Unreal engine. But if you want to have proper knowledge in game programming, and then make unity or unreal engine easier to understand, then you need to pick a normal programming language "Java, C++, C#" (There is so many) and then learn the basic fundamentals of programming. (Like what is a variable, what is a FOR LOOP. ) And then make a basic text based program. You will need to look up videos on the basic fundamentals of programming, and then from there choose what you want to do.

@@miracleknight7758 Then you need to learn the basics. Look up some youtube vids on basic programing fundamentals. OR if you want to use Unity or Unreal engine straight away, Look up videos on the basics of how to use these engines and how to program, there are some tutorials that go over the basics as well as the engine. If you don't like looking at code, look up unreal engine, it uses something called 'blueprints' it is the same as code, but more visual. Look up some vids of both unity and unreal and you will see.

You say borderline, but you should have seen the Earth 2 Discord. There was a dedicated memes thread where they were posting images of his face superimposed onto superheroes and villains, and literally calling him 'Shamen'. Their fervour was both amusing and a little disturbing.
Responce-ception. Brings me back to the late oughties where TH-cam rensonce video chains were a tiring.
This is kinda like a David vs Goliath but "Goliath" set up a rube goldberg machine that kills him when David slings the stone.
This whole thing reminds me of flat earther challenges where they never admit that they were wrong, but instead keep changing the goal post.
