    Am I the only one who likes Randy's solo so much? It feels a little bit unfair nobody says it was really good.

    For those who do not know the guy of the beginning introducing the tune, he is Juan Claudio Cifuentes, "Cifu" for friends. The show is called "Jazz entre amigos", aired between 1984 and 1991. Cifu also was presenting radio shows like "A todo jazz" and "Jazz porque sí". Will be always remembered. Thanks to him he let us know more about the jazz culture here in Spain, in a very interesting, nice, friendly way.

    27-/28-years Michael Brecker, the "bad-as-ass" tenor man whom the gods have impiously taken away from us - far too soon - has left us a library of musical excellence.

    I'm a musician. I believe that emotions are conveyed through music far more purely than through words. I play electric guitar and piano, I love using my hands to express myself. A slide, bending a string to exactly the pitch you want. However, I've never played an instrument that requires my breath (apart from singing). It must be a cool experience to literally breathe in time with the music. If any people with experience could share their opinions, I'd be grateful. Thanks.

      Oh hell yeah man! I play tenor sax and i love when i hit just the right pitch. It is really similar to singing though, i feel like i use my throat so much when i play across the horn and it just feels like my voice is free. Its kind of like when you hum a tune and feel your throat, thats the kind of feeling

    Back in the early 70s Mike Brecker (RIP) had trouble with a herniated larynx (Laryngocoele) and eventually had a serious operation in 1973 to alleviate the problem. His neck still inflated and as such was often seen wearing a neck scarf to support this.

    Bonjour!
    je suis effectivement en Ile de France. Concernant la clarinette, je suis un musicien classique, c'est à dire plutôt un lecteur de partitions...je travaille au sein un orchestre d'amateurs de haut niveau.
    Pour le sax ténor, je n'en joue que depuis deux ans mais...j'évolue assez rapidement...et j'essaie, ce n'est pas facile, de sortir des rails du classique...c'est à dire jouer ce que je pense ....avec mes oreilles et ma technique en cours d'apprentissage du sax...
    bonne continuation

    • @5t3r3054x
      @5t3r3054x 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Je souhaite que vous ayez réussi dans votre entreprise. Je joue aussi le sax ténor mais je n'aime pas beaucoup le genre classique, mais je reconnais que la force du genre classique c'est la précision dans l'exécution des partitions, tandis que la force du genre jazz c'est la liberté de créer musique d'après l'âme du musicien, en suivant quelques règles harmoniques

    Actually it's one of his guardalas.......probably one of the early modified studios....note the selmer 3-banded lig he used on the DG pieces.

    • @ngtamphuong
      @ngtamphuong 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's an Otto Link. Note how big the body of the mouthpiece was, not the streamline body of the Guardala at all. You can use the Selmer tenor ligature on a Link and alto ligature on a Guardala.

    "That tenor sax player" it's funny that you refer to Michael Brecker as if he was just another tenor player (of course, he wasn't still rocking as he was on the time by his first solo album).
    Just found it funny, because Brecker is the greatest tenor player after Coltrane. Lol

    @mpass212 he played on guardalas cause it was easier blowing. he had a birth defect in his neck, his neck ruptured at one point from blowing too hard. So he changed his set up. And in my opinion ottolinks are crappy mouthpieces by todays standards.but many guys liked them because they were more mellow then other metal mouthpieces.. It just depends what fits you as a player.

      Pharoah Sanders at the same level as Rollins? I mean, he's great but I think that Wayne Shorter, for example, played in a more innovative way, as Sonny used to in the past
