【☆】ADAPTATION is similar to a preceptorship program. The hospital will assign you a Registered Nurse/Midwife to shadow you for 6 weeks. During this time, you’ll complete various theoretical and clinical competencies which fall under 6 domains:
• Professional values & conduct of the nurse
• Nursing practice & clinical decision making
• Knowledge & cognitive competencies
• Communication & interpersonal competencies
• Management & team competencies
• Leadership & professional scholarship competencies
【☆】Each ward has a daily routine. This necessitates an early start in order to facilitate patient care and to prepare patients for ward rounds later in the morning. This video is just an OVERVIEW regarding the similarities and differences with the nursing routine between the Philippines and Ireland.
【☆】Working as a nurse in Ireland is an amazing opportunity. Every day is different and you know that you have had an impact on someone's life. You return home from work, and you feel fulfilled.
【☆】Being a GOOD LISTENER is the best attribute of a nurse. It's about listening to a patient's problems and also being able to listen to issues that are unsaid. It's a bit like detective work - you have to be able to pick up on everything they say, even the smallest of things, to be able to resolve the issue and make them better.
【☆】COMMUNICATION is also key - every day you'll not only speak to patients, but you'll have to communicate with other healthcare professionals. Not just nurses, but also doctors, OTs, physiotherapists, healthcare assistants and so many more! In some ways, nursing is quite a social role.

Very informative vid especially to new aspiring nurses who will undergo adaptation as well. Mam, may I ask if uniforms or other materials ba provided ng hospital bago mag start yung program? Thank you po.
Hello po Sir Juben, good day!
[1] During your adaptation, you can wear the usual white top and navy blue slacks nursing uniform.
You can order the hospital's uniform after adaptation :D
[2] Usually, the agency will also provide 6 weeks FREE accommodation located within the vicinity of the hospital. You can start looking for an apartment while ongoing pa po ung adaptation niyo :D
[3] Provided din po ng hospital yung mga handouts about infection control, roles of other healthcare professionals in the hospital. No need to print beforehand.
And of course, be proud of yourself because you have come this far! Chill lang and kayang kaya niyo po yan :D

Wow nice ma'am, I'm sure pagpunta niyo po rito sa Ireland, hindi na po kayo mahihirapan mag - adjust.
Nung interview ko po, pinapili po ako kung Medical or Surgical ward, tapos pinili ko po yung Surgical Ward kaya po napunta po ako sa Orthopedic.
Hehehe kakayanin naman po ma'am kahit papano at kahit gaano pa kahirap :D I believe sobrang strong po ng mga orthopedic nurses hehe :D

Grabe maam super thank you po sa video na to at least ngkaron ako ng idea kung paano magiging daloy ng workflow jan sa Ireland. Mag undergo po ako ng Adaptation starting on Jan.17 and naghahanap po ako ng topics na need aralin. Meron po ba dapat aralin? Mejo scared po ako ksi 4yrs na ko wala hosp experience po. @@chachiimeeedo784 Ahh I see, sa OLOL po pala sa Drogheda! See you in City Centre ma'am, 1 hour away lang po ang Drogheda dito sa Dublin. May friends po ako dyan sa OLOL, nakakapasa naman po sila after their adaptation.
Basta magtanong lang po sa preceptor and always take notes para po hndi niyo nakakalimutan.
Importante po na may expectation sila sa inyo and na memeet niyo po ung goals and expectations nila sa inyo every week :D

hi..just wanna ask if they allow IV insertion or blood extraction on the adaptation?
Hello po Ma'am Mhai, good day!
During adaptation po, hndi po allowed ung IV insertion and blood extraction. Even after makapasa po ng adaptation and makakuha ng PIN, hndi pa rin po allowed. Supernumerary na nurse pa rin po and then may preceptor po kayo na pwedeng mag fill up ng mga completion sheets niyo before you can be independent on your own.
Sa pagkakatanda ko po, kelangan niyo po ng 5 completed cases under supervision ng IV insertion and blood extraction before you can become independent na po :D

Fort those who didn't pass the Clinical adaptation for 6-12 weeks, will they be transferred to a different facility or area? Also, how about the pay if you haven't pass?
Hello, good day Sir Janiz!
Unfortunately, if you didn't pass the adaptation even if you're already extended for 12 weeks, there won't be an option. The hospital won't transfer you to another area.
There are some ways for you to stay here in Ireland:
[1] File for an appeal regarding your case thru NMBI. You will have to wait for their decision, whether you will be for adaptation again in a different area in the same hospital. Most of the candidates who apply for appeal definitely will be given a chance to do the adaptation again.
[2] Apply thru some agencies to become a health care assistant in the mean time. Save money, or you can find an employer who can sponsor your RCSI (another exam for you to be a Registered General Nurse), and then once you pass your RCSI, you're already a registered nurse here. Hopefully, you will find an employer soon as well.
It might look overwhelming but initially, you are given 12 weeks to prove yourself :D Maximize your skills, show your potential and of course, always believe in yourself.
Don't give up and never lose hope!

Meron din pong nakakapunta rito sa Ireland na may 1 year experience lang po sa hospital sa province, so I guess pagdating po dito sa Ireland, literal na back to zero po since iba po ang nursing routine.
But, always remember that nothing is impossible. Katulad po rito sa Tallaght University Hospital, sobrang dami pong pilipino na pwedeng tumulong po sa inyo :D
Communication, being approachable, and willingness to learn po are just some of the keys para po maging successful po ang adaptation niyo :D

Hello po Ma'am Ma. Lucila, yes po, may employment contract po from the hospital itself na pinapirmahan po sa amin bago umalis.
During the interview, pinapili po ako between Medical or Surgical ward since yun po ang may current vacancy and yun din po ang expertise ko.
Bali dito po sa Ireland, separated po kasi ang Medical and Surgical wards kaya ayun po :D

Yes po, every month po merong dumadating na mga nurses for Adaptation.
Dito po ako sa Tallaght University Hospital, Dublin nag wowork and every month po maraming nurses and for adaptation :D
Nakapasa po ako ng OET ng July 2018, nagkaroon po ng job offer from Chesham Recruitment agency ng October 2018, nagkaroon po ng decision letter ng December 2018.
Nakaalis po ako ng Pinas ng September 2019. Dahil sa dami po ng applicants, every month may umaaalis po from India, Saudi, Dubai, Pinas and UAE. Kaya po medyo natagalan sa paglipat but basically, less than a year kayang kaya naman po mamsh :D Tiwala lang!

Yes po, meron pong bumabagsak na nurses sa Adaptation. Meron din naman pong na eextend after 6 weeks, inaaabot po ng 12 weeks ng adaptation and then nakakapasa naman po.

Sa overstaff na araw sir, may 2 staff nurses, may isang student nurse at may isang carer handling 12 patients.
Sa normal na araw sir, may 2 nurses at isang carer po handling 12 patients.
Sa mga days na understaff po, 2 nurses handling 12 patients.
