- "American Pickers" benefited from its stars' unique interpersonal dynamic for more than a decade, but the era of Mike Wolfe and Frank Fritz teaming up to pick through attics, barns, and garages in search of treasure is over. Fritz left the show in July 2021, and the two reality TV stars have since shared a series of public statements about one another, revealing what appears to have been a considerable tension underscoring their former working relationship. That said, there was one revealing moment from an old Frank episode that may have crossed the line. This is the Frank Fritz moment that went too far on "American Pickers."

I do feel like Mike Wolfe was trying to push Frank out to bring in his brother Robbie so therefore I think Mike Wolfe stabbed Frank Fritz in the back. The Wonder Frank had to have back surgery. I really don't care too much for the show anymore without Frank

It was subtle but Mikes demeanor toward Frank was often backhanded and condescending. It seemed to me he thought very little of him and like he was just in the way. That always bothered me.

Greed has broken so many friendships up, from the famous to the non-famous. If what this video is reporting is true then MIKE needs to take the first step and fix the friendships with Frank. Or Mike was never Frank's friend to begin with. The show without Frank is ho-hum don't watch anymore. 🙏 for them both not the show.
I think they were friends since high school. But money has a way of destroying friendships. Frank is a more down to earth guy you would want to hang out with, but Mike comes across as really arrogant since he got rich. I hope Frank gets his own show. And I hope Mike's show gets cancelled!

Always liked Frank the most. Met a woman who they went to her house to pick thru some very nice car parts. During the filming, she ran Mike off. Said he doesn't dig thru attics like is shown on TV. Crew does and he gets a few photo ops. She was a spitfire and told Mike off. Said Frank was wonderful and hugged her when they left.

I was a big fan of American Pickers. I have tried to watch with Robbie, but it's just not the same without Frank. The last episodes with Frank, Mike actually said Frank stank because of bad hygiene. Frank took it in stride, but still, international TV is NOT the place to discuss matters like that. We miss you Frank, and Mike, you should be ashamed of yourself. Arrogant much?
Talking about a teammates stank on air isn't acceptable for sure and why on earth wasn't that edited out of the video that was TERRIBLE production management that person should have been fired because they failed at a large obvious mistake. That's what editing is for come on people. Pretty sad to think that could have been a direct turning point causing an unforgettable rift. That was unbelievable that it happened and that it was left in the final cut.

American Pickers will always lack without Frank IMO. Wish there was a way to bring him back on. I understand there is much 'behind the scenes', but I think Mike and Frank were a winning team.

I think they should give Frank a show, that is a great title, and show them competing with each other. It would be a ratings bonanza. Fritz Picking would work too. "On the Fritz'...he is far more likeable than Mike, heck, Mike is NOT LIKEABLE AT ALL. His voice is irritating.

I know alot would disagree, but I always found Frank to be more like a pawn broker. Mike always wanted to spotlight the history of the piece and hear the story behind it. His appreciation was for the story and history of what he was picking. He did want to make money, but he is so passionate about what he finds. Frank always seemed only interested in what profit the piece could bring him. He hardly ever spoke about what an amazing story something might have or how amazing it was to hear the history of the piece, he only spoke about getting it as cheap as possible and at least doubling his money.

This show had a charm showing friends and family grow together and become successful, feels empty now.
Mike Wolfe ORIGINATED the show. Fritz, a high school friend, clung to his coattails. Jersey John is a huge improvement because, unlike Frank, he knows what he's talking about.

Mike and Frank made the show I love it. But mike was always a spotlight seeker. It’s frustrating I’ve never missed an episode but it seems like mike wanted frank out. Frank has a stomach disease and had back surgery. Look into it. Covid and back issues forced or pushed history to write him out.
Extremely sad to see Frank gone. You are one of a kind Frank in a very good way. We all have some hurdles to over come. I won't speak ill of Mike but it's easy to see some things about him that are not exactly at or where they should be. From what I've gathered, Frank's dependency on alcohol was a big issue while filming. The History Channel is who fired him not Mike Wolfe, although Mike could have been involved in one way or the other. I love them both
Frank never appeared intoxicated or stoned but was a contradiction to mike who was his opposite. That is what was cool about the show, his Bro is his clone, not good. Lacks enthusiasm & realism, BTW why offer more money than the seller is asking? These picks are agreed upon before the show arrives (FACT) on the scene, and looks contrived; not real. There is even a disclaimer when they arrive that the final offer may not be the final offer, we don't know, so stop the phoniness guys

I always preferred a “what the fug you want for this item” approach. The groveling and hem-hawing over a dollar figure eats up way too much time.
I do not and won't watch anymore, when they dumped Frank they lost me as a viewer. I hope Frank gets his own show and surpasses these other goofballs and that Creep Mike Wolfe.
I am shocked and saddened to hear poor Frankie is ill and got booted off the show!
I loved this show, even though I could see Mike throw his weight around, make jokes at Frankie's expense, etc etc etc, but even though you could clearly see Mike pushing ahead of Frankie to find stuff before Frankie got a chance, I thought their friendship since school would never be broken.
Frankie and Mike's friendship and personalities was what made the show work.
Even when Mike got petulent and nasty, when he didn't 'win' I thought Frankie was putting up with this crap because they are true loving friends, so it wasn't totally annoying.
I think, Frankie, if you ever read this, you may not realize how many fans you have.
I think, once you are better, (hopefully), you should get your own show, not picking, interviewing interesting folks, touring America and Canada on your bikes.

I am 80 years old and these people have been around for years and years I remember them even when I was a kid but they don’t call them pickers they are junk dealers and they buy anything and live right in the middle of it they have one great big junk pile they change the name of it so it would have some soft language and sound better

I liked the show with AL Plum in.Rodchester NY ! Now that man has Real integrity and is a real business man .I know personally and spent a lot of time building other people with him.His true nature was to give back to his community like he did in that show with the fire station.
Frank was a jerk. People who were selling their stuff didn't like to work with him. He was so mean, he degraded people.
I finally watched a season 20 episode. In it fritz refers to the non silent rides and you could tell the working relationship had declined. I was lookin for it!
Just "back surgery"? Right... Frank admitted to checking into rehab in '20 and wasn't sober until '21. It's obvious his addiction was the main issue and had probably been a nuisance for some time until it reached a head. Frank isn't doing himself any favors by refusing to take responsibility and instead trying to play the victim and turn fans against Mike.

Glad he's off the show, he was not a favorite of ours, he was all about himself.
There are many rumors which point to both people being the problem, but i think they reach a point of no return now. I love the early pickers season, especially that episode where they search for nascar historical stuffs.
Mike wanted his brother on the show so was pushing Frank out for some time , pretty slime ball 💩 but you can tell Mike's the kind of guy you don't trust.

Mike is a pretty genuine guy and I always had this weird feeling about Frank which I do believe is why this situation came about.Frank has a chip on his shoulder simply because Mike is very knowledgeable and he’s more of a leader rather than a follower unlike Frank. His personality was more like, yes just getting the stuff on the cheap and I’m not gonna pay top dollar whether I’m taking the customer for a ride or not..Mike’s brother is genuine also and he definitely adds more character

The viewers make or break a show and the viewers want Frank. The show is doomed to failure because it will no longer get the ratings it used to.
I'm a viewer, and don't think the show *needs* Frank. Both Frank and Mike were mean to each other, and one had to go. If Mike had to go, many people would call Frank the bully. The show was much more than the two guys. It's mostly about American history - would you rather watch shows like Ancient Aliens? I'm sure the Entertainment Industry would like that, but I say no thanks.
I get the feeling its Mikes way or the highway and he seems condescending and rude towards Franky but rarely does someone start their own highly successful business and tv show without having some arrogance, intensity and self serving adjendas. No wonder he went on a bender, he adored his big fat cat, I remember a show when he had to leave because his cat was sick, Mike seemed ok about it, but maybe he began plotting to get rid of Frank then. Watch the first 3 seasons of AM Pic, (2010) The humble sincere Mike, then watch the last 3 seasons, of Am Pic. (2020-22) when Fritz left the show. Watch Mike Wolf's attitude and phoniness of the sincere Mike & the humility, in the beginning, the humble Mike vs the sometimes insincere arrogant Mike lately. He has lost interest in the pics and goes to give his bro a shot at picking and fame, but it's not even close to Frank & Mike who were complete opposites, completely different people, and that is what was so cool about the show. Mike doesn't get it or he does and doesn't care, I think the later
Yeah, you're right! Sometimes opposites that are friends, that have a blowout, and have to work together, have to put on that Ozzie & Harriet attitude for the camera(Hollywood limelight attitude). I think Mike's trying hard not to lose a good thing, kinda like the way Rick from American Restoration lost his show. The history Channel are heartless business corporate sociopaths, and can put a number one show out to dry without even having any kind pity emotion for whom they're destroying. Mike's probly trying really hard to use everyone of his tricks, and Motivation Tape lesson's to apply to the Human Resources Dept, for the sake of his television career.

I met Mike and Frank in Beaver Dam Ky in 2019. Mike was very outgoing and friendly. Frank on the other hand was ready to rush, unlike Mike. I did take a photo with them and 5 other photos of their first van with the big lips sticker on it.
You'd be in a rush to, if you were about ready to crap yourself, again the booze.
That's always the impression that I got Franks always in a hurry he suffered from the delusion that he had somewhere important to go, he never knew where it was.

Frank was dead weight, He stood there while Mike did all the work. He was a crybaby. Dump Danni too she's such a 'look at me, look at me' person
On quite a few shows you could see Frank clearly trying to get something valuable for next to nothing and you could also tell in some episodes the persons whose house they were picking kind of reralise Frank was trying to mug them off, Mike stepped in quite a few times to regain the person trust and also tell Frank its clearly worth more and Frank would then sort of say - oh yeh I hadnt noticed the signature on the bottom - or - yes true Mike I hadnt realised actually how good condition it was now its in the light - so yeh Frank was very dodgy on some shows, and in the much latter shows Frank almost had bust-ups with people they were picking.
I used to watch American Pickers but when Frank left the show I haven’t watched it since, Frank was the show.
The truth behind the scenes was Frank was always egotistical and thought he was more of the show then Mike was. Frank's drinking and drug consumption was taking its toll of the show and hiding his DUI,'s was becoming harder to cover. That, and the fact that Frank's attempt to go off on his own and open a shop in Galena , Illinois was pretty much the straw that broke the camel's back. Mike's store in LeClaire , Ia. is what started all of the game and fortune and Frank rode it for all he could get out of it until he was arrested for riding his motorcycle down the highway in the wrong direction during one of his stupors. The QC Times newspaper and the local news stations jumped all over the story and was risking the reputation of the show. Frank is always been known to solicit his unwanted opinions and butting into things that doesn't concern him. Mike put up with a lot of things he didn't need to for years with Frank, all while Mike was including him in his business and fame and fortunes.
It was clear on the show in every single episode, it was Mike Wolfe who was ALWAYS condescending toward, Frank. You must be a shill for Wolfe who CLEARLY wanted his brother in the show, and they are not watchable. Yes, Frank had issues and has worked hard at them, probably feels much better not having to live with Wolfe's constant needling and upstaging. That would throw anyone's back out, and could drive them to drink. Wolfe is RUDE, if he is on the phone all the time, that means Frank has to be quiet, for the entire duration, it is RUDE AND SELFISH.

If you had paid attention , you would've noticed Frankie always low balled everyone and made more off each of his sales then Mike did. You're speculations are way off as Mike could've had his brother or his dad on the show from the beginning, but opted to have his friend instead. Frank has always been a whiney lil puke who has shot his mouth off trying to be something he never was. I've seen him get knocked on his butt more than once, that's why a local establishment in LeClaire asked him not to come in there anymore. Mouth was ALWAYS bigger than his butt could back. Mike hasn't responded to any of the the questions of Frankie's departure , Frank has. Mike probably got sore from all of Frank's backstabbing.
Frank also has a problem controlling his bowels, that's gotta put a strain on any friendship that spends so much time in a vehicle and a stain on the upholstery. Apparently they had to remove the passenger seat and burn it when Frank Shitz left the show. His 'back' surgery might have been backside surgery to stop him crapping himself all the time like Brandon

At one taping of an episode frank smelled so bad it had to stopped 4 x's & when mike called frank "Shitty leg luke" frank took of from the recording & refused to return untill mike give him a formal apology.
Mike never did & the fued started & today we know how it ended.

He certainly seems most dedicated to that 'cause' with some observers even suggesting that he's now actively seeking membership of the alphabet mafia and the addition of an all-brown flag to wave alongside their rainbow banners.
I love this show but it seems Mike's gone all big time and replaced his wife with a girl less than half his age (same old story)
I've only seen the gal with all the tats and I could never tell if her and Mike were a couple he would call her honey when he spoke to her on the phone. Was she his wife. What's this about a new woman I haven't seen her yet. Straighten me out please
First of all everything is scripted on that show. 2nd? Mike Wolfe is the creator of the show who spent a few years trying to sell it to various networks when A&E signed Wolfe's idea for their History Channel. 3rd?? Mike Wolfe is the Executive Producer of the show. His brainchild idea, owner of the show. No one knows what happened behind the scenes of the first 9-10 yrs of the show w/Frank Fritz alcoholism. Just like a failed marriage due to alcoholism or an Employer dealing with an alcoholic employee, you can only take so much. If I owned a successful top watched TV Show that I created and developed, I wouldn't let anyone "Frank Fritz" or anything "alcoholic employee" ruin it. No "friggin" way!
Without Frank , Wolfe is way to annoying and unlikable, his brother is a sorry replacement for Frank. If Frank does get a show , I will for sure be supporting it.

I can’t pick sides because I loved the whole show It really sucks that Mike and Frank had a falling out because they didn’t just know each other from the show Mike and Frank have known each other for most of their lives It sucks when friendships fall apart anyway but especially when it’s two friends that have known each other for so long and were like brothers💯
Used to love watching American pickers over here in the UK, but it’s just not the same without Frank, I’ve stopped watching it.
It is very annoying driving and having to sit without the radio or something while someone sits talking on the phone. It is disrespectful. It of course will happen at times but doing it constantly is ridiculous.
The two left on the show are just not worth watching on tv. We agree with Fritz!

I haven't watched American pickers since no Frank.
Here after the news of frank. So sad. Had a stroke and isn't allowed to take care of him himself anymore. He's got someone to be his guardian now.
