A unicorn crys over its dead mother, speared by hunters. It realizes that is the last of its kind. As the hunters approach, the unicorn runs away fearing the same fate as its mother. A chase ensues. The hunters spear the unicorn, desiring its precious horn. The horses of the forest, who worship the unicorns trample the hunters. The horses gather round the last unicorn and worship it as it dies. (This is the basic story, I'll see if i can find it word for word somewhere)
I just never understood why the horses only cared when the last one was dying. They couldn’t be bothered to do anything when the second to last one died.

This piece is amazing. My Wind Ensemble director commissioned it for his mother. She was am amazing woman. I was lucky enough to have a community band directed by her son. This piece is gorgeous.
I think the nicest compliment I ever received as a "grown woman" was when Mr. Perry's father recognized me, and said I was a Swan. It was at a marching band reunion. It was very much appreciated.
