@kchk1988 : yes, the SAF's Officer Cadet School is the only means by which anyone can become an Officer. Our OCS is the only non-degree granting military academy in the world....at other academies like Sandhurst, PMS and WestPoint, or Royal Military College (Canada), you can earn your Bachelor degrees however, their OCT term is minimum 4 years - and that's 48 solid months of training and schooling all melded into one
Not necessary though, we had crossovers from SAFINCO come over to OCS SIerra , Delta, Foxtrot JUST BEFORE Lancer , and then the chop-offs from our platoon went over to SAFINCO to complete getting their CPL stripes....
@merckhd the OCC is rated as the 2nd most shiong course anyone in the SAF can take on - the most shiong is Ranger course. why?they are training us to become your platoon commanders...if we cannot lead, u will die. Cadets are deprived of sleep, rest, & NEVER hv enuf time to do anything,as far as Instructors are concerned. Yet we pull trhu as a team, as ONE. when buddy gets punished, i go down with him, and the section goes down with us. no such thing as "I". we never walk/work alone !

this school changes its name like changing underwear - it used to be called SISL- sch of infantry section leaders, then SAFINCOS - SAF Infantry NCO School, now its called SISPEC....wonder what other names next? OCS is still OCS - its written in Stone.
One officer extremely Kwai LAN throw weight around anyOhow tekkan . He was roundly cursed by his men that he kanna knock down by car.after that officer rod, he died in rta. I was there in the bunk after that tekkan session when he was roundly cursed by many. Advise to officers : do not bully your men. Do not let power go to your head.U did not go thru actual battle you are just playing soldier no matter no tough OCS.

@421250 but nowadays the exams are really plainly memorising and just humdum the theory like word for word. Trust me. The one who can think is through an exam which can make one think, not memorise notes. I admit my poly also like that one. Memorise for fuk, in the end, forget alrdy.

@cdosrt SAFPU or Provost, can afford to do drills day in day out - other than playing with detainees and harassing us operational troops they got nothing else better to do. In Junior Term SOCC myself and a handful of cadets were excused from drills because we spent more than 4 years in the NPCC, BB, Military Bands, or NCC units - many of my platoon mates very envious - but little do they know us drill-savvy guys kena do GD jobs for the effin' SSM who treated us like crapshit!

Take me and my batch for example.. When we got to OCS, we got asked if we ever had foot drill (cos we were so slack)... One comment made by my buddy was: Commando where got time for foot drill???? And that was that... We did get better though... lol..

in the event of a war with our northern neighbour, do you think they will be any mental and emotional doubts on the malays during the fighting ? they are the same people, sadly, chinese came from china and thus the event is unlikely. Sandhurst isnt the best in the world, even worse when you dont respect others. It makes you worse than a dog.
