  • Several near flipping hazards in today's ride! Join us for a full length episode of UTV trail riding as we take on some hazardous trails and obstacles on the Kentucky Turkey bay off road park orange trails, also known as the land between the lakes in Western Kentucky. And if you are new to our channel you can check out our website that outlines our real life history as to how we got to where we are today!

    The orange trails are more advanced, and are pretty hazardous. And being that we are riding 2 Polaris Ranger Northstar Ultimate machines, which are utility machines, therefor much more narrow than true off road machines, these trails suddenly become very treacherous!! Thanks for joining us today! And as always, if you enjoy our content please hit the like button, and share it for us we would greatly appreciate that! We know there are more like minded people out there that we'd love to have on board! Also consider subscribing to follow all of our country living adventures, land investing, buying land, selling land, flipping land, land management projects, land improvement projects, Bobcat mini excavator projects, bobcat T650 CTL skid steer projects, Kioti tractor projects, DIY rustic red cedar projects, DIY rustic barn wood projects and rustic farmhouse decor projects, Polaris Ranger and Polaris Sportsman riding adventures, food plots, small wildlife ponds, building roads and trails for landowners and much more country living adventure. Super great video. I used to ride ATV's a lot. I logged my miles against my hour meter. Utility quad was half as fast as my sport quad due to it being more than 50% heavier than the RWD sport quad. The extra weight really limits the suspension handling and ground speed. I enjoyed some really technical hill climbs, especially in the snow. I learned some hard lessons about flotation on deep snow downhill but inability to ride back uphill on the snow packed roads because the extra power needed would cause it to dig in and sink. My wench, extra cable and some trees probably saved my life, I was alone in the mountains. I would probably roll one of these unfortunately, just used to lighter, faster and more stability. Thanks for the great fun watching.

    i have a 2020 northstar crew - same issues on trials, tippy. best thing i ever did was remove front and rear sway bar links. helps amazingly - might be worth trying.

    • @kapperoutdoors
      @kapperoutdoors  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hmm, what does removing the sway bar links do?

    Hey sir, thank you for your videos on your machine. I’m still waiting on mine to show up. Well if you ever feel like riding in the upper peninsula, we have thousands of miles of trails that are northstar friendly.

      Oh that would be awesome! But I think it's too far of a ride for us! I used to have a hunting camp up there! Thanks

    I was on the edge of my seat. Joe I think you stopped breathing going down that hill. Great editing.

      Man you are not kidding brother! While many SXS type riders would not have issues with these kinds of trails, us narrow width utility riders don't have nearly the same stability! He was close to tipping more than once!! Thanks man appreciate it.

    One question and one comment: Did you ever get over 5 mph???? Great job of plugging up the trail system!!!

    • @kapperoutdoors
      @kapperoutdoors  หลายเดือนก่อน

      A: Yes we made it all the way up to 7.5mph on the long, flat straightaways.
      B: We did not have a traffic jam behind us :)

    Good video. Suggestion, disconnect the sway bar or remove it. That will allow your suspension to articulate.

      Probably a good point but I don't run Trails like this very often at all and I got the extended warranty so might as well keep it on in case something goes bad. Thanks

    That’s a really nice machine
    Your regular cab is really nice as well
    Do you like one over the other

    • @kapperoutdoors
      @kapperoutdoors  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well the 19 Northstar rides smoother than the new one. But I like the new one with the new features and upgrades, and of course the extra seats so more people can join in the fun! Thanks

    Some good trails there👍 think if you're gonna tackle these kind of trails be better with an older more beat up vehicle that. Your not gonna be bothered about gettin dented etc 🤔👍

      Yep, would not have wanted to tip the 34k machine over on its side!! :0

  • @lloydmarche3058
    @lloydmarche3058 ปีที่แล้ว

    Wow those machines are quiet. I have to use ear plugs in my commander. Maybe time for a new Polaris . I enjoy riding but the noise is a big downer for me since I work around loud equipment for a living . Ear plugs and muffs and work for 12 hours a day. A nice quiet ride would be more enjoyable .

    • @kapperoutdoors
      @kapperoutdoors  ปีที่แล้ว

      yeah I agree that for me too, loud engines are no fun. I also put some sound barrier in my unit and that helped even more. Thanks and good luck

    Hey Kapper do you think the shorter wheelbase 2019 would have done better or is the crew cab more stable?

    • @kapperoutdoors
      @kapperoutdoors  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep, the shorter base would have been better IMO.. 99% sure. We really cut it close on those 2 spots, on the first one our rock sliders held us up just enough that we didn't flop on our sides. Thanks

    • @rigorousone1324
      @rigorousone1324 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@kapperoutdoors Yeah I opted for the rock sliders also. Thanks for the reply. I want to try those trails one day.

    Awesome video! I'm about 2 hours from turkey bay. Is it worth the trip? Also what kind of maps was the other ranger using? I would definitely need some maps to know where I'm going.

    • @kapperoutdoors
      @kapperoutdoors  ปีที่แล้ว

      I'd say it would be worth it. They were using avenza maps which delineated between the different trail colors, which was important due to their severity of the trails. On Polaris Ride command, it showed the trails, but I did not see any differentiation on the hazard colors of the trails. Best of luck! What direction are you! I'd like to go back again!

    When starting to tip to one side, steer towards the tip. He kept his tires straight.

      Well I am 6'5" also, and they are all tight for sure. But the Polaris full size Rangers have plenty of room. Best of luck man! Thanks

      No doubt! We did not push them even close to their limits, but we don't do much heavy, hazardous riding like this. Mostly just ez trails. Thanks
