Thanks to the FURS channel for publishing this rare and still very informative video! Those who grew in USSR of 70-80s - were less acquainted with details of European fashion industry, just heard the names ilof the greatest designer, so the information, represented in this video - is still very interesting for them.
I have often heard the name Ungaro, but I had no idea he made such beautiful clothes. His level of design was comparable to Dior and that is really saying something. I love Designers that know how to make women look so beautiful.
I Love Haute Couture The people that make these garments are true artist. Just like I love costuming In film & in dance concerts Makes all the difference. Hundreds of hours of work go into some of these garments. Great documentary Thanks for Posting. 🙏

Such beautiful clothes! I could never imagine having that kind of lifestyle to be able to spend thousands of dollars on a dress or a blouse, a coat or a skirt. Definitely worth it for those who can do so. The amount of work that goes into haute couture, the patience, the sheer love of what they do so brilliantly, the artistry. It’s amazing!
That's a very basic description of Haute Couture, but it could also describe ready to wear clothing. Haute Couture is more like a laboratory where no expense is sparred to produce exquisite hand made clothes that are made to order for clients who can and will pay upwards of ( for example) $10,000 for a blouse, $50,000 or more for suits, or jackets, 6 figure for evening wear, etc. Usually haute couture is not a money maker, but it serves to promote, the perfume, makeup, shoes,bags, etc that make money. Although several years ago, I did read that Chanel reported a 25% increase in Haute Couture sales. That's amazing in itself.
@@kiki29073 lol, unfortunately, I disagree with your comment, haute couture houses, don't rely on "influencers" they rely on the clients who can afford the clothes, and most "influencers" are usually gifted merchandise in order to blog about it. I don't think any "influencer" can afford haute culture and in very rare cases, some may be allowed to "borrow" a haute couture outfit for publicity purposes, but I remember years ago, supermodel Stephanie Seymour said, that " no house ever gives a model haute couture outfits, unless you are the face of the house, at best you are allowed to borrow a haute couture outfit, but only after clients have placed their order or requests".
Every single couturier portrait in this docu was a great designer ( almost all of them have already departed) and is irreplaceable in the history of costume, and fashion trends. That is an undisputed fact, so I don't need to praise them any longer. I m here just to say:- Emanuel Ungaro had a really sexy, masculine beautiful voice!- Even if his looks weren't that outstanding, his clothes were just that, and more, but the man could take also credit for his voice: I would believe everything he said, without any hesitation, and follow his lead. Luckily is he here n more. Maybe "luckily" is not the right term since I confuse always the man with his brand & his deeds (exceptional dresses), so I have to think about it better. Yes! that was a rant,but coming from sincere admiration.
An art form. Classic beautiful fashion. As old as the day. The species has seen some incredible fashion designers. God has brought to the earth, so many fantastic human beings, in various fields/careers, creative people, funny people, sweet people. We’ve been blessed, in that, aspect. IF only we’ve set to appreciate each other whilst they were alive, more often, as of any. Sure it seems, while some take notice, it is often too late realized, how special, how unique the individual is, was, until their passing and enough times, too many, tragically, to tragedy, preventable. Grateful to witness, the human story/stories, time to time, really.

It was during the 1980s era of fabulous fashion that had the fortune of entering the fashion industry as the assistant to the Fashion Director of all the Bullocks Wilshire stores where I had a wonderful and stressful time selecting High Fashion for the Floor and Tea Room Models amongst other duties. I got free “last season” Chanel jewelry from the Display Department who purchased them for a season. Beautiful Art Deco 1929 building on Wilshire Blvd. & Vermont, Los Angeles. Janet

I know people would have fits nowadays with fur but I would like to know one person who wouldn’t appreciate a fur coat when it’s 35 degrees below zero like it was when I woke up a few days ago. It was only 5 below today. I’m sure this is what kept all the Indigenous people alive for time immemorial.

0:40:57 One of my biggest pet-peeves is in menswear... that the photographer does NOT instruct the man wearing a suit jacket to pull the back of it down when he sits -- he could be wearing a 17,000$ jacket, and the collar where it meets the shoulder pads is all bunched up. EVERY TIME!! NO woman on the planet is seen wearing clothing - high priced or not - like this. It is utter reDIculous that this documentary shows such ill-attention to detail when it comes to one of the higher-ranking men/artists. Inexcusable.
All these beautiful garments are quite works of art no doubt. But for the majority of women especially ones who are homemakers with a family and responsibilities these are out of there reach . When a women is truly beautiful even the most plain and inexpensive dress will compliment her beauty .They don’t need to have 100s of feathers and shining trinkets hanging off them. Most of the wealthy women who buy these dresses just to say they bought that expensive name . Whether they really like them or not . Some women who make there children and family’s clothing like so many grandmothers of years ago . Those clothes that were hand made with love can not match any of this stuff . When children and people from all over go to bed hungry ,and when children and people don’t have shoes on their feet and no clothes on their backs then all this glamour has no worth while meaning .
What's funny is that every single one of those haute couture pieces in this documentary look so old and completely out of fashion .....absolutely nothing is now wearable unless you a crazy person.. ....only kept in a museum at best.. ..Lacroix was probably the ugliest even in the 80s....he didn't last either in the fashion world....his clothes are worth 0$ today...that said it all......
That is totally wrong every single piece in this documentary is timeless and wearable. Plus they're all screaming chic and glamor. I would agree with your comment if you said that none of today's fashion shows are wearable, they all, with no exception, are hideous and fashion houses nowadays ocuse on profit more. Also, Lacroix is a very respectful and talented artist.
Laxcroix lasted 20 years, in his couture house. That is a loooong time in the fashion world. Also, fashion, most fashion, captures a moment in time, Very few pieces are truely classic.
Incredible the amount of labor that goes into each fabric. I would go so far as to say these should be considered as fine art.

Lacroix was completely over the top, too theatrical in his approach to design. The clothes wore the women.
Also Lacroix (80s - 90s) came across as old Fashion compare to Montana, Mugler, Macqueen, and Galliano; Who were leagues ahead of their time.

I know people would have fits nowadays with fur but I would like to know one person who wouldn’t appreciate a fur coat when it’s 35 degrees below zero like it was when I woke up a few days ago. It was only 5 below today. I’m sure this is what kept all the Indigenous people alive for time immemorial.

One of my biggest pet-peeves is in menswear... that the photographer does NOT instruct the man wearing a suit jacket to pull the back of it down when he sits -- he could be wearing a 17,000$ jacket, and the collar where it meets the shoulder pads is all bunched up. EVERY TIME!!
NO woman on the planet is seen wearing clothing - high priced or not - like this. It is utter reDIculous that this documentary shows such ill-attention to detail when it comes to one of the higher-ranking men/artists.

All these beautiful garments are quite works of art no doubt. But for the majority of women especially ones who are homemakers with a family and responsibilities these are out of there reach . When a women is truly beautiful even the most plain and inexpensive dress will compliment her beauty .They don’t need to have 100s of feathers and shining trinkets hanging off them. Most of the wealthy women who buy these dresses just to say they bought that expensive name . Whether they really like them or not . Some women who make there children and family’s clothing like so many grandmothers of years ago . Those clothes that were hand made with love can not match any of this stuff . When children and people from all over go to bed hungry ,and when children and people don’t have shoes on their feet and no clothes on their backs then all this glamour has no worth while meaning .

What's funny is that every single one of those haute couture pieces in this documentary look so old and completely out of fashion .....absolutely nothing is now wearable unless you a crazy person.. ....only kept in a museum at best.. ..Lacroix was probably the ugliest even in the 80s....he didn't last either in the fashion world....his clothes are worth 0$ today...that said it all......

That is totally wrong every single piece in this documentary is timeless and wearable. Plus they're all screaming chic and glamor. I would agree with your comment if you said that none of today's fashion shows are wearable, they all, with no exception, are hideous and fashion houses nowadays ocuse on profit more. Also, Lacroix is a very respectful and talented artist.

Laxcroix lasted 20 years, in his couture house. That is a loooong time in the fashion world. Also, fashion, most fashion, captures a moment in time, Very few pieces are truely classic.
