  • Installment 3 of 5 of this slightly boring series. Sorry it's not more exciting, but just in case you wanted to see me just doing "my thing". I've got lots more cool stuff coming soon.

Love seeing the transition steps for a swarm. Could you leave the swarm in the swarm trap and winter over in the smaller box?

I alway enjoy watching your new videos Gene. Thank you. Here in NYC, we too are still having the girls bring in lots of pollen but very little nectar sources left out there for them. Our Fall flow starts in about 2 weeks but as you mentioned, its small in comparison.
Hey Gene, I have a quick question to run by you. My hive has thrived all years, and have had an incredible first season. And between using the Guardian and Host Defense Reisi Mycelium in their food, I also have had zero varroa!!! It's incredible. I feel like an exception to the rule. Yet now is the time varroa start rearing their heads if there were any and I get back in my hive this weekend. If I do start seeing Varroa, do you have any suggestions? I have followed your lead on everything and so believe in it, and don't want to put anything like formic pro in there. This is just saying I do see varroa, what would you do? Super grateful.

Any more recommendations for keeping hive beetles away from your hive, that was the reason that my bees had absconded.

From what I'm gathering, trapping and preventing them from entering is all we have for now. If I come upon some kind of breakthrough I'll be sounding the alarm for sure! Bee safe!

Is that 16 frames in the hive? How many frames work best for you in your Layers hives?

I use 14 & 20 frame Layens. 20 seems to be the sweet spot in my climate zone #8

How did you happen upon unscented Swiffers for SHB control?? :)
