    The way you took it down gives me warm memories from 30 years ago.
    We did the same with furniture.

    You mentioned a "honey feeder" in this video. Do you feed the bees their own honey? Or do you buy it and give to them. I've heard we should never do the later. I'm interested in hearing what you do.

    • @SecureAcresNaturalBees
      @SecureAcresNaturalBees  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      We use the honey that we have produced from our bees as that is the healthiest. If you don't have any honey to start with then buying some local honey might not be so bad at the start and is 10x better than sugar.

    Nice now how long do you leave you Laynes hive there before you take it home or do you leave it there all season?

    • @SecureAcresNaturalBees
      @SecureAcresNaturalBees  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Anthony,
      We keep the hive at it's location as long as we can, usually for the lifespan of the colony.

    Hello my friend. Here again on this video I don't see in middle-bar supports on the frames? I'm guessing you don't find them necessary??? Is wire or fishing line enough support? Thank you

    Had to watch this one again!. How long was the swarm there before you collected them? It looks like they drew out their own comb. I would rather do it that same way

    • @SecureAcresNaturalBees
      @SecureAcresNaturalBees  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The swarm was there for just two weeks! Which is what we like to allow them at minimum so they can develop their comb. The only thing we placed in the swarm hive was an inch strip of foundation on each frame so all that comb you see was made by them. :)

  • @bradgoliphant
    @bradgoliphant 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    What kind of honey feeder do you have? Do you only feed bees honey from your yard?

    • @SecureAcresNaturalBees
      @SecureAcresNaturalBees  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      We use honey feeders from www.horizontalhive.com . The honey we feed our bees comes from our other bees. :)

    Did THEY draw that comb or did you have it in the trap already?

    • @SecureAcresNaturalBees
      @SecureAcresNaturalBees  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey Larry sorry for the late response.
      Yes the bees filled out that comb when they were in the swarm hive. We let them sit for two weeks before installation for good comb development.

      Excuse my ignorance..im not a beekeeper at present. Still learning..did you have foundation in your frames?

    • @SecureAcresNaturalBees
      @SecureAcresNaturalBees  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      No worries, just an inch strip of foundation at the top of the frame.
