@@tomassilva6555TOTK is a Nintendo AAA game. Its an open world game and vastly more graphically complex. Also it was worked on by a huge development team. You can't compare these two games or processes
Hahaha. I’m very hopeful it’s 2025. No reason other than it’s a new year farther away from that Xbox release window a few years back and the farther from that, the more likely it’s closer.
@@VDGMS We know that Silksong has entered the testing phase of development. It seems mostly done. The delay is caused in part by TC following a more normal schedule, and in part by them pursuing simultaneous, clean release, unlike HK, which released staggered across different platforms over time, and apparently had framerate issues early on. HK was released unusually fast, Silksong is following a much more normal development cycle.
Yeah that's why I prefaced the whole video with let's not debate. I think indie has a huge range from small solo devs all the way up to with studios of nearly 100 people. I also don't fault any indie dev for getting a deal per game to work with a publisher. It takes a lot of the pressure off from worrying about making it to the finish line and having to let go of some workers. What indie game are you looking forward to?
Tails of iron 2 and hollow knight Silksong are the two games that are highest up on my list that I already heard of. Croak looks super interesting Could see Crowsworn coming out late 2025 or early 2026. Hopefully 2025 though!
Croak looks rad and digging the art style, but not a surprise with an artist that worked on Cuphead. Crowsworn demo was pretty unreal for mostly cutting room floor stuff that wont make the game. What else would you put on the list?
man now you convinced me to look out for some of the game I didn't know. Especially Mouse, midnight walk, replaced and expedition 33, art style of these are specially gorgeous.
Bro... like I watched the whole video and my jaw was dropping lower and lower. With every year of my life I curse the world for ever growing amount of responsobilities that limit my time in front of a monitor. I guess all-nighters my beloved... Awesome video btw
Don’t get mad 😬. We didn’t include DLC (except for one, but that seems like more of a sequel) but on the bright side 25 other games for you to check out!
Great list! Clair Obscur is probably my most anticipated new game bar none, but for indies not already on the list I would shout out Ender Magnolia and assuming it’s on track to end its early access as well, Hades II. Some others I’m less sure about arriving in time for 2025 but still worth hyping up: Lost Hellden, Alabaster Dawn, Threads of Time, and pretty much whatever comes out of the China Hero Project next!
@@VDGMS definitely my favorite announcement out of TGS! But as someone who just finished replaying Chrono Trigger last weekend, the timing and my bias for JRPG time travel are definitely a factor 😅
Breakers delay as unfortunate, but early 2025 will be a perfect time for it. I loved their first two games and it seems like a perfect hybrid. There is a three minute deep dive on the art of Goldman on PlayStations TH-cam channel. Highly recommend watching. Also working on part 2. So another 25 indies coming!
@@VDGMS Glad to hear it! I just started covering indie games on my channel as well by recommending Caravan SandWitch; here's hoping we get some more fantastic exploration games next year!
Another reason for Hyper Light Breaker being delayed is that the creator, unfortunately, his heart disease was getting worse. Maybe Alx Preston doesn't work a lot on Hyper Light Breaker, but is still sad to see the original founder/director of Hyper Light Drifter is having a hard time.
While I'm sure I'll enjoy crowsworn, I really can't help but feel like this is just hollowknight with a coat of paint. From the backgrounds, to the combat, to the way the character moves and transitions to rooms, the enemies, etc. I'm sure it'll be fun to play but that's because I love hollow knight and this looks very similar. I hope this has a really interesting story 😅😅
How could you not mention Pony Island 2😭😭😭 It's the next game by Daniel Mullins, creator of Inscryption, The Hex and Pony Island. It's highly anticipated, especially by people who have played all 3 of Daniel's games, since we know that his games are interconnected and tell a greater story
Yeah from one of the original devs of Dead Cells. Started his own studio Deepnight Games. His first game Nuclear Blaze was good fun and it’s only a few bucks.
And that was just the top 25. Even had to leave some off, plus what hasn’t been announced yet and what hasn’t been delayed yet. Another good year for indie games. What are some of the indies you’re looking forward to next year?
I genuinely think Silksong has ZERO chance of releasing 2024. Personally i think the release date is gonna be announced in the game awards. The midnight walk, sword of the sea, tears of metal, earthblade and hyper light breaker were the games that looked the coolest. On an unrelated note this isn't an indie game but anyone in the comments who hasn't played dark souls go play it know it on sale for 28.50 and it's my favorite game of all time. Just had the spread the word.

It's not petty, everyone is entitled to their opinion. We think it's indie because the studio is only about 30 people, they aren't owned by any larger parent company, and they are being published by Kepler Interactive, a studio founded by independent studios like slocap etc. Sure, there have been some funding from investors, but I don't think it takes away from their ideals. I'm not going to fault a studio for securing funding to keep the studio running and keeping employees safely employed.
