- Kathleen Battle sings Durch Zärtlichkeit und Schmeicheln from Mozart's Die Entführung aus dem Serail (The Abduction from the Seraglio) live at the Metropolitan Opera. James Levine, conducting.
She's the best. No question.
Absolutely spectacular! Such a perfectly controlled sound. The F#6 in the opening cadenza is GORGEOUS. Thank you so much @VoiceVirtuoso for posting such a gem.
I'm singing this right now, and it is one of the best pieces I have ever had the privilege to sing! It's an amazing feeling, being at that E6.
wow.. the F6# at the beginning was awesome!
Indeed, it was very unexpected and very loud. Such a gorgeous choice of embellishment!
@@PensadorProfundo42 how are you man? I will let you know when I will start the new kathleenbattlefan page.. I wish I could access the existing page. Im gonna work on getting access again.
@@baritoneblazzin1965, hello! It has been a while since we last spoke, I hope you're very well! Regarding the new channel, that is such amazing news, I really look forward for this new channel! Your seemingly endless collection of her recordings has many rare pieces I want to listen to, haha!
On the topic of Battle, I'm thinking about doing a 'vocal feats' video of her, highlighting some excerpts of my favourite performances of her. Maybe you could point out a few pieces and bars that can improve the idea!
Happy 73rd Anniversary Of Life

Our Dearest & Most Precious Kathleen Battle
You Are A Special Gift To Us All!
She's amazing! I would die to see her at the theater one day !
the best ever
Yes, it is an E6.
Next to the fact that she commanded about one of the most beautiful, honey like light coloratura voices for decades she was able to sing the staccato on the E6 at this period of her career. Later she avoided to do this, also in the marvelous studio recording under Solti.
@pedrofribeiro it is an E-natural in the 6th octave! ABSOLUTELY RAVISHING!
given the tuning, she actually sings a F
Prachtige stem en aria!
This is a half step higher??
Yes - I am reading the music as I listen and this is Bb and my book is A. Idk about the original score tho...
@Emily Kivi no it's not, it is in fact higher than 440, but it's not half a step.
yes sounds like it
F#6!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
