    In metabolic acidosis, breathing is first rapid and shallow[1] but as acidosis worsens, breathing gradually becomes deep, labored and gasping. It is this latter type of breathing pattern that is referred to as Kussmaul breathing.

    You should include hearing samples at the end next time it helps to understand the cause

    What one would you most likely see during / after a seizure or status epilepsy?

      Hard to say. They would most likely be tachypneic since their body just underwent a strenuous event.

      Tachypnea and hyperpnea.

      The concensus is that it manifests early as rapid and shallow, and later manifestation is that slow and deep consistent breathing

    Cheyne stoke breathing looks more like biots breathing curve.

    How can these be treated if possible?

    • @Emtprep
      @Emtprep  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great question, unfortunately they aren't indicative of only one condition. Treating them includes many different factors.

      As an emt in san Diego county we give 15 lpm of o2 via nrb unless respirations are over 24 then we use bvm.

      I feel like I breath way too softly to the point where I’m kinda running out of breath so I end up taking deep breaths out of nowhere

      Outside any other physical/medical (issue), like ‘for no reason’ it is most likely related to emotion, stress, anxiety/depression (acute or chronic), etc.
      It’s good you brought it up with a medical professional!👍🏼
      You aren’t alone and it’s not uncommon at all (though people are rarely aware of it unless it happens repeatedly).

    Can whiplash cause ataxic breathing?

      If the pons is damaged maybe.
