- The Conco Companies Poured 12,000 yards of concrete in the heart of the financial district of San Francisco for the new Salesforce Tower. Performed over the course of 16 hours with the use of Central Concrete and Cemex through 7 concrete Booms, the concrete placement went off without any accidents or problems given the tough logistics and setting.
This is beautiful in so many ways! The whole orchestra of everyone doing their jobs to perfection makes this video amazing.
Pouring is like a Ballet....everyone dances around to get the job done........36 yrs of it for me....so far.......ET
4 yrs later I just seen this video... it’s amazing to watch. Im in construction and every time I see a big pour it still blows my mind how much money a pour like this cost.
Dumping the concrete was probably the easiest part, logistics to move 76 concrete trucks per hour to the 7 pumps/ ~ 10 trucks per pump per hour, working from only 2 sides, and then a washout area for all those trucks, without an accident, that's the trick. A pentagon shaped excavation, nice SOE project as well.Nice Job!
BJ Count when you throw enough money at it, you can even make pigs flys.
Grear Job! Amazing, thank you sir !
Keep up the great work Jasper
By my calculations they needed at least 1225 cement mixer trucks.
Anybody have an actual number?
bout 350
+UnleashTheBlob Well meme'd kind sir.
1200 truck, plus primer trucks, maybe 1210 if trucks are 10 cy each
Marco Topete Is that a calculation by you or actual number?
+QuixoticQuaver That is a very close count. Some of the trucks are 12 yard loads so it varies.
Awesome video!
I am curious if the weight of the concrete slab poured is within soil bearing capacity. Has there been settling in the nearby area?
12K yards^3 = 9174.6583 m^3 = 22 079 tons
Why were they not using top-down methood?
Like a bunch of ants building a huge anthill.
Is there any information on the trucks carrying the extremely large green concrete conveyors?
P Hu for sure. There are multiple companies that make a variety of different sizes. I believe these are all putzs which you can check out here www.putzmeisteramerica.com or there is schwing which is here schwing.com
P Hu the concrete is pumped thru the white pipe carried by the green booms
What the hell is a Yard of concrete? What does that mean? Shouldn't it be measured by volume?
A yard of concrete is a measure of volume. It's 3' x 3' x 3'. 27 cubic feet of concrete.
Ryan Jasper Oh ok, it didn't say cubic yard. I was confused at first. I thought it was referring a yard length and factoring in the diameter of the nozzle.
gredangeo , he's right , it should have been a cubic yard !
left crane has hydraulic leak.its arm keeps drifting down
How are these things controlled. Remotely, or from the machine itself?
The operator uses a wireless remote for the hydraulics while pumping.
oh man...hated having to use the corded box
How long will it take all of this to dry?
Concrete does not dry ... it cures. There is no evaporation (ie drying) involved.
Its concrete. Cement is an ingredient in concrete.
2018 finished, on google earth it looks like that a big pit.
How did you already get 45,000 views on this?
+Ryan Meyers why not? it's a nice thing to see
When complete it will be able to WithStand a magnitude to 9.5 Earthquake for 11 minutes without structural damage.
