The NHS Contract was definitely a big one for me, and was probably the main event that made Palantir catch my attention.
I sold all my 100s of shares of $PLTR during the Spring of 2022, at a loss of course but missed out on even further losses. Began getting back in November of '22 when I learned they received their Impact Level 6 from the DoD. Now I'm sitting on 1,000s of shares with a DCA of $10.86 and a 2030+ timeline. I'll sit back and just enjoy the ride from here.
Last PLTR purchase for me was in the $14 range. My overall avg is $11.47 and I've been hesitant to purchase more at higher price. I should have purchased some when it dropped to 21 or 22 range. I don't think it will get to that point again, so if it drops down to $25, I will get some.
How many shares do funds have to buy for inclusion?
Market Capitalization of Palantir: $67.91 billion.
Total Market Capitalization of the S&P 500: $40 trillion.
Palantir’s Weight in the S&P 500:
Weight of Palantir 67.91 billion/40 trillion= 0.169775%
Total Value of S&P 500 Index Funds: $4 trillion.
Amount to be Invested in Palantir: = 4 trillion times 0.00169775 = 6.791 billion
Number of Shares to be Bought: Assuming Palantir’s share price is $25: = 271.64 million shares
So, approximately 271.64 million shares of Palantir would need to be bought by funds tracking the S&P 500

Tesla is my conviction stock, buy and hold 5 to 8 years. PLTR was my short term spec item. Btc is my short and long term hedge.
With everything else down, I'm looking at converting some PLTR into topping up MSTR so that in future i can maybe get some income/profits from some options (education permitting).
The stock compensation plan for staff was something i wasn't aware of before and could be an issue going forward. More institutional investment...

Looking at Tesla, they shot up after the their inclusion was announced, and this continued until about two weeks after the inclusion occurred, before finally having a pullback.
Palantir is my biggest individual stock - I could sell some to rebalance, but I think I'll just enjoy the ride for now.

Trying to actually remain in the S&P 500 is I guess what's next , considering the extremely high expectations from wall street that companies have to exceed by every quarter these days . Seems companies can be doing amazingly well on all fronts but it's still not enough for wall street to destroy them 😕
Been with Pltr since IPO, hopefully this will keep it out of the 20s wheres it been fir so long.

This is great news! Will continue to buy consistently monthly no matter what the price is at. Just my opinion, but I see PLTR going up in the long term. Not planning to sell PLTR anytime soon.

Thank you for sharing that information. I've been wondering myself if we could speculate on the number of shares needing to be bought. This gives a person a guage atleast. I had read also that the amount they buy is based on marketcap.
Great news to rejoice but not adding right away tomorrow just coz of this S&P addition. 'Sell the news' profit booking by HFs and institutions happens next week starting from tomorrow. HFs unload to retail. Market sell off is still on and sp will go back to high 20s on profit booking and market sell off. Just exercise caution and just follow the smart money.

thanks Hayley! Since Aug 5th dip Palantir jump back up very quickly and is the only tech company who hasn’t gotten hammered, held it’s own on this September dip and rose on the NYSE news after hours

I liked the NHS contract because of what it represents. When Palantir unify all of those patient record databases going back to 1948 it will become the most-valuable cradle-to-grave AI trading dataset on the planet.
Big pharma will pay for access, pay the nation's health bill, and we'll negotiate first dibs on any new medicines. At cost.

Is it true that companies added to the S&P 500 tend not to perform well afterward?
@@naoyot2777 they tend to have an explosion up leading up to it and then when it happens its a drift down over the next 3-6 months from there. usually finds its floor at slightly above the level when it was first announced.

@@naoyot2777If you’re interested in palantir. Dollar cost average over the next year. So let’s say you want to invest 1000 dollars, just do 100 dollars a month for 10 months. That’ll allow you to average out your position.
