Love my 06 PT GT 5spd with 62,200 original miles and mint condition. (Crazy for being in NY I know but I take care of my PT's) I have the convertible. Personally, I liked the 1st gens until the 2nd gen came out. Sold all my 1st gens for 2nd gens. Yeah the TIPM and CANBUS system is doo doo but I personally enjoy the interiors and looks of the 2nd gens. The dashboard feels bigger and not like your looking down at it as I was in the 1st gens. Plastic feels the same quality and love the extra storage in the center compared to the 1st gen.
The PT was slated as Chryslers worst reliable vehicle but funny thing is, my PT's have outlasted the new vehicles I bought. 2013 and 2020 Ford Escapes (Both totally different powertrains) the 2013 needed 3 transmissions before it hit 120k. 2020 needed one at just 34,000. Then I bought a 2021 F-150. Trans literally GRENADED itself all over the highway at 16,000 miles. I now also have a 2020 2.0T Equinox that has proven to be more reliable than any Ford with 54,000 miles and it tows 3,300lbs daily. Something Fords couldn't do.
But, my PT's have been the most reliable vehicles I have ever owned to date. My 2001 being the best so far mileage wise but not age wise. I got 286,000 miles out of my 01 before the NY salt got her. 06 is still goin strong with ZERO rust.

Very cool that you found out with one of those taken care of. So many people just run these in the ground or young kids abused them. Also being 20 years old don't be surprised if the radiator or the cooling fan goes out because they run hot they aren't made to go 500 miles on a trip to Florida whatever they just great for local and don't burn it up I wouldn't take it much past 4500 RPMs to shift hard on the engine. Will changes every 3500 with top-notch synthetic oil. Hopefully somebody did the water pump and timing belt just don't let it ever overheat it a warped the heads and then it'll be ruined so never let it overheat always take good care of that. I see you're in Georgia I'm in Nashville Tennessee if you ever decide to let this PT go please give me first refusal. You're not too far from me and things change and you happen to please let me know ASAP. Thanks on the videos. Andrew

Love my pt gt. I have a 2003. With the factory flames. And you are a 100% correct about the superior comment about the first-generation and second-generation. It looked alot cheaper inside, they changed the retro look that people loved to begin with and thats when sales dropped off. Its a shame because i loved them they remind me of driving a go carr. And the PT was actually rhe first crossover. It still has the most room and configurations out of most SUV even nowadays. Obviously not the huge full size SUVs. Lol

Have an 06 5spd, Base Model. Had it 13yrs, needed a motor last 9. When I first got it I wasn't into PT's, but when I drove it with that stick, I immediately fell in love. Have tried to get rid of it a few times, but offers were crap. Think I'll have a motor put in next year, still undecided about the same or a turbo swap. I miss driving my PT. Just yesterday someone asked me if I'd sell-depends on the offer.

Show off the trunk/hatch in your next vid. Always impressed with its versatile configurations.

I had the 2004 Focus SVT which was the best handling pocket rocket of the generation imho, but I consistently got smoked on the straights by the Neon SRT4 with the same powertrain you have there.

Good review. Power moonroof? Never liked the power window controls on the dash.
