    Tommy ain’t lying I was just telling my dad how I fished the barges last year and my son was saying dad throw on those rocks and we pulled big trout when you threw right on top those submerged rocks! If you threw off the rocks they were smaller but all the big ones were right on the rocks! Beach side the barges we smacked them!!!

    One of the most helpful videos in a long time. Wish we'd known this a few years ago when we started trying to learn that area. It has gotten a little bumpy out there on us. Do you recommend trolling the rocks of Belle Pass rather than anchoring or what would you do if wind is up??

    • @tommyvidrine
      @tommyvidrine  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I use my spot lock on trolling motor to stop and give a spot at least 10 minutes. The good thing about those rocks being so long even if the wind picks up you can go on the opposite side East or West to get in a calm area If a strong wind is directly blowing into the pass then you have to move in

    Thanks Tommy, you mentioned bait. Any pointers on how you catch bait fish? Finding bait fish, catching bait fish with a cast net. This is something many of us have a disadvantage with in catching fish, those like me who rely solely only on purchasing bait and using artificial baits. You’ve spoken a lot in the past about using live pogey and croakers. Any information or tips on catching live bait fish would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! Jim

      Hey Jim. Sorry I missed this question. I give details on some older videos on how to catch Pogey .

    Thanks for the info. I love your channel. If you are fishing the west side of Belle Pass, what are you looking for on the beach. The entire beach looks the same, but some areas always produce better than others?

    • @tommyvidrine
      @tommyvidrine  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That is a great question. I look for bait in the water. Trout like to stay with mullet schools. Also watch for birds diving on shrimp. Sometimes I have found them where I see two different currents meeting like dirty and clean line. Also breaking waves

      Sometimes you got to try for 56 parts until you find the school feeding Trout I think early morning is the best on the beach in the best time to come is in May and June

    Tommy do you think it would be safe to go out their in an 18ft. Dual console boat and what about fishing the other end of the rocks were the pass starts in Bell pass on an incoming Tide. Was out that way in November wish I would have found you sooner. Tight lines

    Tommy, I have a 17' semi-v alweld, would you fish Belle Pass in that?

    • @tommyvidrine
      @tommyvidrine  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For sure. Just look out for the big ships that come in

    Do you ever see any kayaks when you're at bell pass? I ain't worried how far it is

      Yes on light wind days

    What techniques would you recommend for identifying isolated structure with sonar?

    • @tommyvidrine
      @tommyvidrine  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The only time I use sonar is around the offshore rigs for snapper. I also use it to help find pogey for cast netting when they not flipping on top Maybe the fancy side radar would work. Most of the structure I fish is large and medium rocks and are visible with eyes.

    Do these same areas hold mangrove snapper?

    • @callanmay1
      @callanmay1 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ive caught a bunch but the water has to be moving pretty good

    • @tommyvidrine
      @tommyvidrine  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Only small mangrove. Not many legal size. The rigs in 50 to 100 feet of water hold bigger mangrove snapper

      Thanks guys. I'll definitely be trying to find out soon. Mr. Tommy let us know when they start biting.
