Ive used that method for bouit 18 years on 2 of my 5000l tanks. The only problem is that the tank that is in sunlight will have the clear tubing start to fade and discolour from the sunlight. Perhaps the solution to that is to have a small float or piece of cork in the tube to show level...cheers
The clear pipe will fade due to sunlight!! Here's my solution bro : >Use coloured hair oil(red colour) and pour in the pipe, it will show the water level in red. > Cover the pipe with a cloth, preferably dark color cloth. It will protect from sunlight. Try this and let me know!!
This is EXACTLY what I’ve been looking for to learn how to make something for my false-bottom planter. Thank you!!

Just an suggestion you can add a white and red float 😉
Should just put a T between tank and stop valve instead of drilling the tank
Could cause issues if you pressurize the system, though a check valve would solve that.
@@StuffBudDuz pressurize the system? These are open water storage tanks, only pressure is the water height in tank....
Won't work if you have freezing temps
Just put a floating tt ball, that will indicate best
