I feel so touched every time I hear SIA's public announcement on the flight saying "Welcome home! ". Though I am a HKer, my Singaporean hubby and son are always waiting for my coming back at Changi Airport. Singapore is my home now.
It's the same for everyone, the first "welcome" to Singapore is the heat wave. No matter what, you were born in HK and grew up there. Your family is still there. It is not so easy to uproot. But Singapore will always welcome you back.
It's ok Irene, don't feel too bad, HK is only 3.5hrs away by flight, and covid will be over, hopefully soon. May God bless you and your family in HK and SG! 🙏
the uncertainty you expressed is exactly how many people feel right now: the anxiety of when everything will (and if) go back to some sense of normal. the good thing about SG is how they're moving in the right direction; can't say the same about HK... I am SGean but will be (temporarily) leaving my partner behind when I move back to SG sometime in the coming months, that sense of "when can we travel freely again without anxiety" may not be as keen as you feel for your family and your true home, but I def can empathise. 大家加油

You see more people in HKIA cos many people are leaving HK. Not necessary migration but some are moving back. The situation in HK is driving many people away so I’m not surprised by the crowd you saw.

Because CX cancel a lot of flights, a lot of paxes are using SQ to fly to Europe, australia or US. SQ Flights from HKG are at 90% from what I know in Feb.

My girlfriend left HK in December to meet me in Singapore for a month and now is with me in Australia. She leaves all her family behind and we have no idea on when we can return to HK together (I am not a HK ID card holder). It is hard to see how HK will progress until they accept Covid is now a normal part of life and allow us to live just like SG do.
