- As part of the 2023-2024 Dahdaleh Institute Global Health Seminar Series, Dahdaleh Graduate Scholar Sherif Shuaib presented his research on predicting adaptations to rapid climate velocities in Canadian fishing communities on Wednesday, January 10, 2024. Shuaib explored the complex interplay between fishing and climate velocity, evaluating how climate change affects the abundance and distribution of marine fish.
Speaker profile
Sherif Shuaib embarked on his academic journey at the Federal University of Technology Minna, Nigeria, where he earned a Bachelor of Technology in Mathematics/Computer Science in 2014. He later pursued his Master of Science in Applied Mathematics at the Prince of Songkla University, Thailand, completing it in 2020. Currently, he is delving into his PhD research at York University, focusing on the intricate effects of environmental stressors on species distribution and abundance. In his current research, titled "Predicting Adaptations of Fish and Fishing Communities to Rapid Climate Velocities in Canadian Waters," he explores the intricate interplay between fishing practices and climate velocity.
