Roman steps was one of my first solo hikes in the area around 4 years ago, also the first time I used a trail app - basically the same route as you. I had exactly the same experience too - I laughed at 24:06 as I remember standing in the same spot thinking the same thoughts!
It was a good education though - I learned that if there's a path, follow it and ignore the 'route'. If there isn't a path... well you get better with practice at finding your own way. Sheep tracks have saved me more times than I'd care to mention.
It's what makes these areas so good - lack of wide gravel paths = lack of people. When I hiked up Moel Ysgyfarnogod I experienced true silence for the first time in years - makes your ears feel funny as you're so used to the noise of people.
I am also now of the same mindset - not getting any younger - so get out there whilst I can. Stay Stealthy!

Cornwall roads did that to me. I've never ever driven on a car wide 'road' where it wasn't even tarmac, it had grass with deep tyre grooves from the traffic! Add to that the mother of all traffic jams as diversions were in place and sat navs took everyone the same way, it was mental. Great video with epic scenery and we can't wait to get to Wales in a few weeks time. Thx brother 👍😄

Great vid Adam; area looks stunning :) I'd be super careful about cooking in the car though unless you have a door open - carbon monoxide will build up when burning gas and at a decent level can knock you out and you won't wake back up. Not wanting to put a downer on your vid but it's a serious issue. Many people have died using those stoves in tents for the same reason...

That’s an amazing camp spot. It’s a shame some folk can’t leave their loud music at home and are happy to listen to nature. Legendary hamburger. I’ve often looked at fresh, delivered meals. We have Hello Fresh in Oz, I wonder if they do gluten free. A bit of gluten and I can barf for 3 hours. No fun. Enjoyed ya camp young Adam. We need to get out but it’s too freaking cold down here. Himself and I are planning a trip without the caravan. Just taking the awning tent and a 4 person Easy Up tent. Dunno how we’ll manage at our age but what the heck ay. We ain’t got many years left so got to try it, ay. Cheers 🇦🇺🥶⛺️🚙

Just spent a couple of days camping with an elderly gentleman, he has quite a bad back and i say comfort is key, i hope your taking some camp beds for the critters and your back, what ever you had a brill time, take a few spare sock also though ill bet its pretty cold there this time of year

You need to get one of those EPB'S (Emergency Positioning Beacon) devices like what sailer use. It will be cheaper in the long run, as I believe a satellite phone will cost a lot. Plus unless the rescue party can get a fix on your position from the sat phone...you may not be able to explain your location due to it being dark/foggy or your potential injuries. With EPB , you just press a button.

Great video, have to laugh though walked in some of the greatest parts of Wales unshaven, Cooked the burger and chips clean shaven washed and clean woke up in the morning rough as ya grannys mole, Keep it up, you're a good laugh and don't let tthe barstools grind you down.

Have just come back from a cottage in North Wales, about 5 miles from Ruthin, Claenenog (spelling!) and spent a week driving round on these single track lanes and lost my shit quite a bit
    Some absolute numpties about!

If those roads stress you out, don't go to Cornwall 😂 Just be nice to the locals and don't expect them to reverse out of your way every time.

Hey Ad I hope you're well. I'm working on a signal booster system for such locations, for some clients in America. This is for field research, very similar fields.
    Heads up!

Would be worthwhile to make your own routes on OS maps mate. You'll improve your 'mountain nose' and get to know the area better beforehand 👍🏻

Another great video Adam. Watching you climb to those fantastic viewponts, kept saying to myself 'wish I could do that' and 'wish I was there'. I have little hiking experience but I to would have just followed that wall! You''ve sold me I will have to try that place. You have got me thinking about wild campinng as well. Where were you 10 years ago?
