► The Grand Canyon National Park… Often described as a breath-taking and awe-inspiring place was the 15th site in the United States of America to have been granted the National Park status ([1.] Wikipedia.org). The Parks most notable feature, as the name might suggest is the Grand Canyon itself, a gorge of the Colorado River which is considered one of the Wonders of the World. Scientists currently believe that the Canyon itself was formed between 5 and 6 million years ago when the river cut a channel through the rock ([2.] History.com, 17 February 2020). The first European explorers, Spanish explorers specifically, reached the Grand Canyon in the 1540s. However, this site has an ancient history of human habitation dating all the way back to the last Ice Age.
117 years ago, Theodore Roosevelt visited the site and stated:
“The Grand Canyon fills me with awe. It is beyond comparison, beyond description; absolutely unparalleled throughout the wide world. Let this great wonder of nature remain as it now is. Do nothing to mar its grandeur, sublimity and loveliness. You cannot improve on it, but what you can do is to keep it for your children, your children’s children and all who come after you, as the one great sight which every American should see.” ([1.] Wikipedia.org).
Despite Theodore’s attempt, the site was not named as a National Park right away, but it appears that he did pave the way and on the 26th of February 1919 the Grand Canyon, and the entirety of the 1.2 million acres was declared a National Park. The Grand Canyon was then designated as a World Heritage Site in 1979 by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization. Since then, though perhaps specifically in more recent times, the park attracts almost 6.5 million visitors every year, making it the second most popular National Park in America, only surpassed by the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
While most of the Parks visitors come and go without issue, for a minority of people this is not the case.

The Grand Canyon, and much of the area nearby, is incredibly beautiful and majestic, full of interesting history and folklore, and plenty of mystery. FYI The science on the Canyon has changed. The river did not carve it, it was a massive lake that emptied into it catastrophically, resulting in the canyon's creation.

The Grand Canyon can be extremely isolated, I’ve experience this myself when I went on a 7 day 80 mile backpacking trip. My friend and I lost the trail on the 3rd day, because how rugged and unused the trail was. But fortunately we’re really experienced hikers and extremely fit, and after a few minutes looking at a map, we’d find the trail again. However if somehow we couldn’t find the trail, or hurt, we’d be 40 miles away from the closest civilized location

Don't believe everything that science writes about. If we had "the best" no one would become a missing person". Look into Egyptian treasure of the Grand Canyon. Also, people still have " in holdings" within most Nat'l Parks. That's another quite interesting and we'll kept secret. Since after WW2. Plus "the Little People" & Giants of the Grand Canyon. Another aspect is that for every 100 people that visit the South Rim, only 1 person visits the more extreme and adventuresome North Rim. Even less get to the most remote inhabited village in America: Supai Village on the Colorado River inside the GC! Happy investigations! You shall be blown away with new knowledge few are aware of.

Regarding case 3, it's common for suicidal people to seem in a good or "better" mood just before an attempt. This is because, if the attempt has been planned out beforehand, they feel as if a massive burden has been lifted off their shoulders. The distress and confusion of dealing with whatever problems they're facing seems to melt away due to their hope of soon of ending them. Also, Andrew's talk of the future and seeming to be excited was probably an intentional attempt to fool his father into a sense of security, so that he wouldn't try to stop Andrew from carrying out his plan.

We had no water and had to hike halfway up. Luckily there were several hikers who helped and gave us water but my mom, dad and I all experienced dehydration and heat exhaustion. I realize now how easy it is to die here and even told my dad to leave me because it would be more peaceful than going back up. There is a whole series of books about death in national parks. Death in the Grand Canyon is riveting and terrifying. People die there all the time, usually in very disturbing ways. Several times, when posing too close to the edge after climbing over barriers, people have pretended to trip or fall to make a funny picture, and ACTUALLY TRIPPED, falling hundreds of feet to their deaths...I couldn't believe how many times that has happened!
A few people have accidentally driven off the edge while parking (one guy forgot to set his parking brake and left the engine running, AND his kids in the car, while he got out to look at the view. Unfortunately, he had also left the car in gear, and it began to roll. In spite of several people attempting to stop it, it went over the edge, 600 feet into the canyon below, obviously killing everyone in the car). As you go through the book, its apparent that almost every death was completely avoidable and in almost every case, the people who died refused to follow any of the park safety guidelines, ignoring signs, barriers, ranger warnings, rules about not interacting with or feeding animals, or going off trails into hazardous terrain. Look on Amazon for the series....

I'm so glad someone else found it interesting! I was depressed but not surprised at how many, many people met their ends making a very poor decision about what seemed to them, at the time, to be meaningless, like the "tripping" pose for a selfie, or trying to back into a parking space on the edge of a 700 foot sheer drop, accidentally hitting the gas instead of the brake, and gunning it backwards into the canyon, or deciding to wear ear buds while hiking ALONE in grizzly country so that he couldn't hear the two ton bear charging up behind him...
In our every day life, we make stupid mistakes all the time, and they can cause us a minor hassle, like driving off with your cup of coffee on the roof of your car in the morning, or forgetting to bring directions for a get together; things that are dumb, but not life threatening in the city. It turns out that everything is life and death in nature. Everything. It's easy to forget that. These books will remind you...😳😫😀

Going off the trail unfortunately occurs more frequently than most people think. The problem can be summed up in that old adage: a little knowledge is a dangerous thing. Some people who have gone hiking in the Grand Canyon come to think of themselves as experienced or have some expertise when in reality they are far from that. There several cases of such people who met untimely ends because they thought themselves to be experts and could go off trail. The most recent case is the Sarah Beadle case (Aug 2017): a mother who left her daughter and nephew sitting by the trail while she went to get some water for them. Fortunately, for the children a passerby found and took them to a camp and alerted the authorities of the missing woman whose body was found a day later. This may seem like the actions of an unintelligent person, but Sarah Beadle was a doctor who worked in the ER for one of the top medical institutions in the US (Baylor College of Medicine) and she had been to the Grand Canyon several times and an experienced hiker. According to her husband, she had been on that exact same trail many times - until she decide to go off it. You cannot tell from the videos and pictures, but the Grand Canyon can be a very dangerous place with daytime highs over 100F (37.8C) - the record is 120F (48.9C).

The kid that left college and went to the Canyon committed suicide. It makes a lot of sense actually. Lots of people become very depressed In their first year of college, usually when it doesn't live up to expectations. Combine that with many colleges having predatory professors pushing crazy ideas (communism, eco-fascism, and human extinction to name a few things I've heard professors advocate for at my school) and well I can see how someone would become desperate.

Dont forget that parents can have unrealistic expectations for their kids at college, attempting to force them to pursue a degree they do not want, expecting them to be star students, or putting tremendous pressure on them by telling them that they (the parents) are making a ruinous financial commitment. I've known way too many friends who became desperate after they had trouble settling into their first year, and when home for a break, heard nothing but recriminations about their lack of effort, or lack of gratitude for the sacrifice the parents are making, or anger if they want to change their degree goals. Two friends, who both achieved their PhD eventually, suffered near complete breakdowns because of continual pressure by their parents on top of the demanding schedules they were already dealing with. One developed a drinking problem and one suffered a complete breakdown, got on a bike one day, and bicycled to another state to see a friend without telling anyone! After a lot of panic, she was able to rest and get help, changing University and beginning again, she is an esteemed professor today, but went through too much pressure initially. Suicide has become a epidemic among young people. Please take any references to suicide extremely seriously and reach out with support and understanding. Suicide hotline number: 1-800- 273-8255.

I’m in my first year of college and I agree, but it’s more so depression because I can’t reach my own expectations. College is harder than I thought. I never struggled with school work up through high school and my first math test in college was the first time I failed a test. I’m leaving for reasons unrelated to my struggles with the work, and I managed to finish with a GPA that is considered good to others, but I still expected so much more from myself. I agree with you.

I'm an Aussie who lived in the US for a few years (a long time ago) but I never got to see the Grand Canyon. What you said about it having a spiritual vibe reminded me of a similar experience I had here in Australia. I once visited Uluru (more commonly known as Ayer's Rock) way out in the middle of the country. It's the single largest unbroken piece of stone on Earth, and you can't imagine just how big it is until you see it in person (and most of it is underground). It has tremendous spiritual significance for the local indigenous people, and when I saw it I had the same sort of feeling that you describe. It was an uncanny sense of what I can only describe as familiarity on some deep primal level, despite never having visited it before. It seemed archetypal, or something. I struggle to put it into words, but it was an eerie feeling.

@@Markus_Andrew Markus, I hear you big time, regarding the "Rock". Words are useless to convey the awe felt. My friend had a creepy experience near, Kings' canyon, several decades ago. Him and his girl friend wondered from the main track{ a big no, no , if you ask me } and came across a ring of trees, that pointed outwards. It was a place of power and malevolent at that. Fear and unease, inhabited their being and they left quick, smart! It doesn't end there. The night after the visit, both of them had nightmares. The female's dream involved her partner, raping her. She kept that to her self for a while. It affected the relationship. Clearly they walked into sacred country and got off lightly!

Good video. I live in Arizona and have visited the Canyon multiple times; it's a beautiful, surreal place, and can be overwhelming. What happened to these people I do not know, but I'd like to recommend a book called "Over the Edge : Death in Grand Canyon" by Michael P. Ghiglieri and Thomas M. Myers, which goes through pretty much every death that can be historically verified, from the early settler days right up to 2000. I picked it up on recommendation from a friend; peculiar but interesting, and it ties right in with your video if you're interested in the Canyon's past. That place has swallowed up a lot of lives.

The case of Drake Lyons Kramer who went missing in February 1, 2015. What struct me was that he (Drake) left San Antonio and traveled to the Grand Canyon National Park.
Now bare with me, but him leaving San Antonio (he allegedly stated he went to California first, and then to the National Park) and driving all those miles without notifying anyone is mind blowing in itself. The distance travelled is what made this stick out. But what got my attention was that he had just started studying geology.
I bring this up because you've mentioned about boulders playing a big part in the missing 411. Is it possible that Drake was handling a piece of a boulder and or material from the Grand Canyon? And somehow (I know this sounds crazy) possessed him to drive all the way to the park?
Sounds INSANE but why rule this out, considering how far away he was from the national park. And the recent changes of studies to geology, it just some how fits. Also the fact he stated via text to his family ""needed to be back with Mother Earth and set his soul free."
His last text sounds like that of ancient folklore worship of "Mother Gaia" by pagan and or wiccan traditions. Also reminds me of the Icelandic hidden elves that live in the boulders, fairies, etc.
Nevertheless this was just something that stood out to me. He (Drake) initiated a study of geology and shortly thereafter went missing, and travelled the distance to do so. If that doesn't sound like possession; I don't know what does.

With all the information that has come out from the few people making sure we're aware. As well as possible info on the missing. With the awareness and knowledge of knowing how real this is... It should prevent it from happening like it was especially children. I have no doubt it already has!
    Stay safe out there! 🙏

In regards to the Glenn & Bessie Hyde (Hide?) case, I think I’ve heard another story in connection to that...
I could be totally wrong about this but I thought that it was rumored that at least the woman survived and that she disappeared voluntarily because she had either deliberately killed her partner or that he died as the result of an accident during the trip and she wanted to avoid scrutiny and/or to protect her privacy. So, she basically snuck away from the area and started fresh somewhere else. Now, I’m pretty sure where this line of thought came from was one of her supposed children (or maybe it was a grandchild, I don’t remember). Obviously, this supposed child would have been born after the Grand Canyon incident. I believe the evidence they pointed to was either a cryptic deathbed confession and/or the discovery of a birth certificate (or something similar) that was found in the women’s things after she died but the name on the documents were that of the missing women and not the name they had known their mother/grandmother by. I hope that made sense. Anyway, since I am now having a hard time finding this story then it’s quite possible that this theory was debunked or that it was a hoax to begin with. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I had a really crazy thing happen to me last weekend, I was flying a rc plane with an 8 foot wingspan and it was 200 feet right in front of me and all of sudden the plane got this thin bright light around it and it vanished right in front of me. I am still in shock.
I think these missing people are stepping into something that just takes them.
I know it sounds crazy but it happened. I was looking right at it and poof gone.

I fail to understand how people get lost. I have never gotten lost, and have been more than 20 miles from my home. 1. Carry a compass, or learn to tell time and all by the sun. Know the direction you entered, mark your trail..... Never go anywhere and fail to tell others where you are going. A GPS implanted within you or on you at all times is a good thing. NEVER go alone.
