How Accurate Is A 430fps HPA Gel Blaster?

- It's a common belief that the higher velocity a gel blaster has, the worse the accuracy gets. Today I seek to test that theory by using a 430fps HPA M4 gel blaster lent to me by Safari Zoomer Tactical here in South Australia!

It's actually not a German company. They're based out of Pennsylvania
😆 😂 I'm glad I stopped and read this first. I actually prefer your way.
I know that you won't get a chance, but that company makes some of the best gun parts in the world.
Man, I know airsoft isn't available or legal in a lot of parts of the world, but man this makes me happy to know that it is. That $800 setup on a gel blaster shoots WAY worse than even a $120 airsoft AEG. They are pretty different things after all, but it's just sad to know you guys are limited to that garbage 😭
Whether it is an aeg or HPA has nothing to do with the precision. An AEG usually has very stable FPS.
But I agree that it is very imprecise compared to airsoft. I usually use .4g bbs and shoot about 1.6j with my MWS(GBBR) and it is a loot more accurate at 50m than this gel gun is at 20m and GBBR which is not very accurate compared to HPA.
@@MKAnr1 well, yeah, HPA and AEG use the same barrel/hop system and are consistent.
And yeah, GBB is so much less consistent.
Gel blasters are just crazy inaccurate no matter what though, which was my point. A $100 Cyma M4 is more accurate than even these $600-$900 gel setups. That's all I was saying
These were my thoughts exactly. The fact that gel blasters have come so far and the technology is where it’s at, Australia might as well just allow airsoft. What’s crazy to me is the fact that gel blasters are less accurate but can shoot at the same FPS which in my opinion is actually more dangerous than an airsoft gun. I’m glad they have gel blasters at least but realistically just let them have airsoft 😂
FPS just doesn't say much about how hard you shoot, unless you also know the bullet weight = joule. Gel balls probably don't weigh very much. And I guess they're softer too or what?
Shoots worse than a $30 Airsoft gun
The thought of a polarstar build topping out at 45m hurts my heart. I feel for our Aussie brethren.
I always copped some grief on the old GBF Forum for a couple of my high 4-500 FPS experimental blaster builds in regards to accuracy, and I never really found any major issues other than the life span of the nylon Gen8 gearboxes! 😮😂👍
Doc! Glad to hear a familiar name. Can't believe the forum vanished over night..

I have a krytac spr. It was an aeg but when it broke I went hpa. It is night and day difference. Also this year I’m using different mags. This should let me shoot at a higher rps but I’ll wait and see. My krytac mags could handle 45 rps but my new epm1 mags can supposedly handle 60-70rps
bradley i think you should make a video about how to preserve and treat the battery with every kind of battery form 7.4 to 11.1
The accuracy problem with gel blasters is due the gels itself I believe a company will succesfully develop some type of gel ball with a lil bit harder shell and weight is just a matter of time we just have to wait
Even if they did that, the inconsistent growth of each individual gel would still make accuracy subpar to airsoft.
You mean... Paintball?
@@brodar2232 No Paintball is bigger and plastic.
they sell hardened gal balls
A Muzzletech hop up would sigificantly tighten up the grouping & distance. You should really do a review on them, I promise you'll not want to use any other hop up. No need for an allen key for adjustments, simply turn the front of the Muzzletech clockwise or counter clockwise to adjust. Make sure you have 10 to 12mm of the inner barrel sticking out of the outer barrel so that it works properly. I dont use anything else. It 100% changed my game play from hoping some gels hit to knowing they will.
I've used muzzletek hopups before, they don't really have any noticeable difference to them compared to any other gel blaster hopup. And their most recent one was an absolute flop of a product.
Nice rig you got there
Just a thought but would adding sugar or something water soluble help with the weight?
so what about if you let them gels absorb a heavier Liquid ? so for an example what would happen to the gel balls if they sat in Sodium Hydroxide or something has had more densities then water would it then improve the range i would be interested in finding the best liquid maybe it would end up that water is the best. and would they be able to aborse something like Sulfur Dichloride. Why am i so interested in this
As far as I'm aware, they can only absorb water.
I would love to see all the settings on the fcu
Can the gellets soak up denser fluids other than water. Alternatively, if we dissolve any solvents (e.g.:sugar for instance) in the same water and let the gellets absorb it, will it make it heavier?
you could use D20 instead of normal water
its around 10% heavier
but i dont know where you could get it
Of course you could do them heavier. All you need to do is to take a fluid with a higher mass than water. You could try salad oil for an example. Maby the soak up time increases also. Could you give it a try? I would like to see the improvements those gels would make.
That's usually one of the first things people try before realising it doesn't work. They only absorb water unfortunately.
@@BradleyPhillipsYTeven if they would absorb oil, water is heavier than oil. Glycerine is may work.

As an airsoft player, I’ll add that many people do actually use .20g BBs for ordinary play. It’s extremely common. As an advanced player, who builds and tunes his own replicas, I typically use either .25g or .30g. .30g is considered very heavy in many (if not most) airsoft environments. It helps that airsoft s are inherently far, far more accurate than gel blasters. For example, a well built airsoft rifle using good quality .20g BBs and shooting under 400 FPS will reach 50 meters FLAT, without tilting the gun upwards, and keeping all shots within a 2 foot circle. Using .25g BBs that range can extend up to 65 meters, and I have made occasional 80 meter shots using .30g or .32g BBs. This is under ideal wind conditions, of course.
It helps that BBs are heavier for their size (6mm vs 7mm) and are manufactured of plastic rather than a polymer grown in water with inconsistent shape and size.
This is true. I even have some 0.12gram airsoft bbs
.25 is conmsidered heavy? might have been a good fields to play
In my country 0.25 is the most common bbs to use and pretty much a standard bbs for rifles (.25 is standard because my country had a wind problem most of the time)
0.28 is considered standard for AEG's
0.28 - 0.30 is considered standard for GBB
0.32 is the standard bb to use for Snipers
0.36 is uncommon but a lot of people use it on specific fields that have a windy weather
0.40 - 0.46 is highly uncommon and banned for short - medium range, only use it on long-range such as more than 100m (Snipers mostly)
But headshots are highly prohibited, no headshot or any vital organs are allowed to be shot in almost all fields.
@@SamWeed420 There is a lot of difference between your filds and my fields can hear. Where I play most, the field doesn't sell anything below .3g
I myself use at least .4g and I play what you call short - medium range shoots about 1.6 joules.
You may shoot with up to 5 joules on most fields here, but only bolt action snipers.
1.6j can never hit harder than 1.6j regardless of bullet weight. When you get chrono with the ball weight you play with.
Here you are welcome to shoot in the head, it is your own responsibility to use protection, but there is a requirement that the eyes and teeth must be protected. However, most people don't shoot for the head if they can hit something else
@@MKAnr1 oof, that's rough

if you use heavy water?
Gel blaster or airsoft, unrealistic aiming, compared to nerf. (Advanced nerf)
One shot or 10 shot, the right set up will give you excellent grouping. Gel,airsoft and paintball, the rounds are spherical, they can go off target sometimes. (Think knuckleball)
If you have the money to dump 3k or 4k would you recommend buying a HPA?
If you don't mind having to refill your tank each week, sure. More reliable than an AEG and faster trigger response.
Use heawy water from a reactor.
They use destilled water witch have even less weight
Hey there, I’m a Modified Nerf creator here in the US and I had someone reach out to me claiming to be you, do you know a Gage Milner?
I don't recall doing so, what do you create?
Modified Stryfe’s
Look like the up hop make it worst in therm of precision ... sure you gain on distance but not sur on how straight the ball exit the barrel
Why don't they manufacture gel blasters chambered in a higher caliber gel ball? I'm very curious
Because the weight is from the water inside, the larger you go, the greater the effect of size compared to weight.
@@BradleyPhillipsYT Oh, so a bigger gel ball wouldn't improve that much in terms of range huh? hmmm, well it still be kinda fun to have like a slug shotgun that fired like a 27mm gel ball or something crazy like that, anyway thank you for the reply

Ngl that huge as spread makes the game look you could just hold gel bbs and throw them for the same accuracy
why did u test acuracy with auto mode ?
that full auto is scary
Everything else being mostly equal, I’m sure that extra 100 + fps at least punishes the other team at close range more 🤷♂️😅
Definitely haha
Hey mate, have you tried using heavier water?
Heavy water is only about 10.6% heavier than water, thus you'd go from 0.2g to 0.23 grams approximately. Not enough to make a real difference. The biggest cause of inaccuracy is the shape of the gel in flight, as it's non-spherical during flight.
@@EmberfireKitsune Lmao I'm taking the absolute piss mate 😂
I was also under the impression that the inaccuracy was due to it essentially being a co2 gel musket
@@microwavegommmm916My bad, didn't realise that :p
As to accuracy, gel blasters all have smooth barrels and there's only two real things that affect accuracy outside of the user, a hopup and how well the gel maintains a consistent spherical shape in flight
How do you refill the hpa tanks?
You need an air compressor, most people take theirs to a gel blaster store to refill. Some fields also offer free refills.
A special air compressor for scuba rated at 3000 - 4500psi not your average workshop compressor
hey I have one of those burner style gel blasters it's a hydro pulsar, and I'm telling you right now if you take it easy on one of those and like let it break in.. I modded and put another 7.4 volt spliced battery on it, and I keep that in my car so when I see some of my friends, because I have this whole gel blaster thing blow it up out here in Medford oregon... I I have 15 volts running through that one and I promise you when I say this dude it spits hot fire I mean it really really freaking spits LMAO I mean it really really really freaking goes ballistic dude and it's hella accurate it shoots within like a 4 to 6 ft area after it gets to about 25 30 ft it starts to kind of spread out a little bit but it still hits everything you need to have it hit kind of almost like a shotgun like a automatic shotgun in a way.. I wonder how much power I'm pushing out of that running 15 volts to 7.4 volt battery spliced in and connected! I have three different styles I have the lightning blaster with two batteries, cuz one of my gear boxes that presses and rotates the plunger broke on one of mine so I opened it up was seeing if I can fix it I busted a few down and fixed them and put them back together, but there was no fix in the gears were stripped.. and I have a splatter ball one with the drum on it that holds 1200 or whatever, just some throwaways for right now until I get these jobs done then I'm going to buy one of what you have like a 6 $700 FAL or one of them badass ones bro what do you recommend, by the way?? for like six $700? I'm going to start a Joe blaster arena, down here it all started with helping out a homeless friend and seeing one of those surge blasters buying it making a TH-cam video all the sudden everybody in Medford is running around with these things, but we're all pretty safe as far as not shooting innocent people but we do ignorantly shoot each other I have four different automatics in my truck right now that are fully loaded with bucket, a 5 gallon paint bucket full of gel blaster beads! but anyway I just wanted to let you know that, I've been subscribed to your channel for quite some time I plan to buy a badass one sorry for the novel bro I love your channel everything you do is amazing you explain it and bust it down all the way to the nitty-gritty and I appreciate you very much, I'll let you know what I got going I'm going to start a TH-cam channel pretty soon myself too bro so I hope to keep in contact with you and I'm in contact with Barry the CEO and a few other splatter ball guys, I mean jail blaster guys from all around the world and I would like to stay in contact with all you guys you guys are amazing your contacts amazing I'll continue liking the videos and watching as many as I possibly can
Hi, so the gel blasters available in the USA tend to be either really old ones that aren't sold in Australia anymore, or completely different ones that are too weak to be sold here. Unfortunately that means I can't really recommend one for you that you could actually obtain.
Yeah true about speed/accuracy. My home made blaster does over 990fps and is all over the shop over 15metres. But it shoots 277 gels per second so it still gets a shipload on target. Ranges out at about 120 meters.
Please make a video of it
l m f a o
Yes, please please make a video of that cuz I call bs 😂
990fps is almost the speed of a .22LR what the heck? Theres no way that gel ball can reach that speed without breaking apart due to the sheer amount of force needed to reach that amount of speed
I always thought barrel length played a part in accuracy.
Less barrel length and more barrel x cylinder ratio. You don't want to over pressure your gels as they leave the barrel by having it too short for example.
Why not compare the accuracy of the same blaster at 300, 350 and 400+???
Mostly because it wasn't necessary to do so. Every blaster I've tested in the past two years shoots 300-350fps.
Also I had issues getting this blaster to shoot 300fps reliably with such a long barrel, it was definitely optimised for higher velocities. So that would have shown the higher velocity is actually better, when it just wasn't optimised for that.
20metres and...a very big rose is born
It will still definitely mess with the accuracy a little bit. Even airsoft bbs warp at really high speeds
Did you even watch the video? Lmfao
@@Daniel-vu4qu yea but I don’t play with splatrball guns so not a concern lil jitt

Man the accuracy of gel blasters is so bad, I know here in Australia we dont have Airsoft. However to go thru all the headfuk of getting a Gun license and storage and other associated fees, even spending alot of money on a Gel blaster and this is the performance you get.
Cheap airsoft springer pistols perform better these these modded blasters, i really hope we get Airsoft here one day soon.

Gel Blaster? is airsoft Banned in Australia? actually i have no idea
This statement is actually correct. When the gelball reach over 90m/s or 300fps, the gel ball aerodynamic start to fuck us alot...
The 3 reasons of this are:
+ Gel balls are 7.5mm diameter, thus the contact to the air is more compared to the 6mm diameter bbs.
+ The gel balls are light weight entities, 0.2g is too light compared to 0.28 or 0.32 grams bb.
+ When the gel ball travels within the inner barrel. The chamber pressure pushes the gel ball into "Oval Shape". When the gel ball hits the hop up unit, it then changes its shape 1 more time. The higher pressure and velocity, the greater the deformation.
---
So to fix this, you can either use heavier gel balls and the harder version gel balls to reduce deformation.
At this time there are no heavier gel balls. Most of the weight comes from the water inside.
@@BradleyPhillipsYT Yes, so we're currently stuck now...
how much money
Ngl it can shoot 50 meters away and that's kinda impressive for a gel blaster😅
Gelsoft & accuracy?? Is that a thing?
Haha. Na seriously, I zero most of my milsim rifles to 25M. Simple. Snipers on the other hand, well, it gets frustrating because the accuracy just doesn't exist. I've spent too much time trying to get a decent performance out of my AWM, the sweet spot seems to be around 35M 430fps. Going above 430fps at longer ranges and I do belive the gells distort & vibrate more and they become less accurate. (I was using a 21cm archery target. Not a 1M target) It really is a shame but in my opinion the Gelsoft sniper rifle is pretty much redundant. (We need an Aussie Donald Trump (can belive im saying that) to bring back the biff, & legalise AIRSOFT. I love Gelsoft but after playing Airsoft in Europe, snipping successfully at range. I tried with Gelsoft. It's just not there.
Interesting test Bradley. Nice hardware. Get well.

I still think airsoft is better more realism with gun attachments and overall feel of full metal body like a real gun would
Gelsoft has full metal blasters with realistic weights and for any blaster which has the rails, you can attach any attachment you could normally attach to a real gun (Scopes, sights, torches, etc).
