i really likes holtz as an antagonist, he really is the hero of his own story
Who hasn't had their prayers answered by a burger late at night
David Boreanaz is a huge Flyers fan, so that may be why Angel got Connor hockey sticks.
He's always a hockey fan in all his TV shows. And a Philly fan on both Bones and SEAL Team.
Spike has been known to drink his own blood, but he's not quite like other vampires
You're far enough ahead to know what Angel's diet has in it right now. When he said at least I'd have a snack, he totally meant Conner. A bad joke by someone in a messed up state of mind.
I never saw it as that. I always took it as, Angel is bleeding and he's looking at his own blood on the blanket when he was saying that, trying to make light of it.
"I'm becoming a huge Wesley stan now" 👀👀👀
As I recall, our response to the Loa at the time this first aired was pretty much the same as yours: a giant cartoon hamburger intoning dread prophecy *is* weird and hilarious.
This is really a Wes episode. I especially like his mocking Holtz for "the low scary voice." (that's how I felt about him, too). And I wish it could have stopped at his moment of comic realization before the earthquake and fire. For a few seconds his fears are gone, overcome. If only that could have been sustained!
"Weird and hilarious"... but also appropriate.
In mythology, loa spirits manifest by animating statues. It is easy to imagine them possessing some ancient statue (like the Kali statue in "Golden Voyage of Sinbad"), but at some point thousands of years ago those statues were brand new. So in a modern setting, what kind of statues are around? Burger Loa makes complete sense, while also being a whole lot of fun and funny by treating it seriously.
I refuse to trust any prophecy that isn't told to me by a cartoon hamburger
Yay! The Loa!!!
Loyalty starts off with a chilling scene with Wesley consumed by the prophecy ' the father will kill the son' and his hands covered in blood. Angel with the little baby clothes is funny. Great scene with Aubrey comin on to Wesley and then Angel takes over and threatens her and Holtz, and then afterwards Holtz confronts Wesley. A great ending too after the earthquake when Wesley sees the blood again. We just know this is going to lead to something bad.
I think Angel saying "At least I would have had something to snack on." was just Angel's attempt at a Dad joke, He's made jokes like that before but the person he was making to joke to didn't have a prophecy saying he'd do that.
it is not till this episode do you see how dangerous and lethal the other members of team Angel are. On their own? All would lead a team. Even Fred who has spent enough time would be dangerous. Of course Angel goes without saying when he tones himself down around others to blend in
Alley: “I just love Wes!”
Viewers everywhere: 👀👀👀👀👀
"Cordy is the backbone of Angel Investigations."
Part of what makes good tragedy is when you can see characters are about to do the right thing, but hurt feelings or bad timing cause them to make wrong choices.
Since Charisma Carpenter was away due to her first pregnancy, the writers were able to explore what might have been fixed if Cordy was still there instead of on vacation. (She could have cut through the awkwardness and hurt feelings of the Wes/Gun/Fred love triangle, for example.)
Jack Conley who played Sahjan also played the werewolf hunter in season 1 of "Buffy"
I didn't remember that. Thanks for pointing it out.
I wish the burger god was real.
15:10 Yep, you should look up who played the vampire with the camcorder in that episode.
I absolutely love Season 4 but this is one of my favorite episodes.
Did I dream that Alley posted the next Angel (3x16) reaction episode? I don't find it now.
Yeah, I saw it yesterday but put it in Watch Later, came to watch it now and it’s gone. Probably deleted because of some technical issues.
How dare you disrespect the Loa!
32:10-50 LOL
Seeing Alley's hilarious attempt at reenactment the other day, something occurred to me. Having a burger mascot give an animated speech about how a violent prophecy go down is a bit getting the prophecy delivered by Michelin J. Frog. Who (as luck would have it) was the still the WB mascot at this time!
Why is Connor dressed like Captain Kirk?
Wasn't there an episode of _Supernatural_ where they had a meeting of angels, and one of the most powerful angels showed up inhabiting the body of a pimply teen in a fast food worker outfit?
Are you referring to Samandriel, ''Alfie the wiener guy''?
@@jadzia911 Yeah, him. Looking it up it seems I was wrong in that he's not that powerful, for an angel. And the context of his appearance on the show. My point is though that Loa is in some ways reminiscent of Samandriel; technically Loa came first but Alley is coming to Angel after watching Supernatural.
I tend to think of the events that begin here as the PTB's (or maybe just Jasmine) seeing Angel getting a little too close to perfect happiness as he bonds with Connor and taking an interest in putting a stop to that.
talking hamburger
I want to make a game of thrones reference right now but i cant until after the next episode 😢. Check this comment after the next angel episode lol
Well, Miss Boks, you wanted to see Holtz, and you've manifested him, and now you're going to regret it. You should know better by now...
As an aside, I do find it distasteful that someone is suggesting Wesley date one of their clients. In a business like Angel Investigations, where the clients are usually in some sort of distress, hitting on them would be highly unethical. Even accepting a client's advances is wrong, taking advantage of someone vulnerable. But shipping characters is very much part of TV culture, so such things are gonna happen.
The writers added that last 'snack' line for some of the viewing audience. The ones who might be watching distractedly, or maybe a little 'High'. The passive audience who are not 'connecting the dots' in their minds. To make the ending crystal clear to all.
Yet another reactor who doesn't enjoy my beloved Burger Loa 🍔😂
I can tell Alleys friend Mary visited before filming.
Love it ❤ hope my Christmas card made it to you safe
Baby back ribs!
Such a strange episode, whether confusing or not.
Stop-doing-the-so-called-watch-order!! It was intended to be watch how they originally aired, they produce it that way, which is one buffy and one Angel. This thing someone started only brings spoilers and ruins the intended suspense and makes everything so damn predictable. So frustrating.
Let it go - she's going to keep doing what she's doing the way she's doing it.
Everything that happens from here really is Angel's own fault.
I LOVE YOUR CHANNEL!!!
