This was a fun edutainment short! I'm a big fan of dwarfs (especially the Disney branch) Though, one thing to acknowledge is that what people didn't fully realize in the 1940's was most of the techniques used to rid mosquitoes was also really bad for the environment like the oil spray and, correct me if I'm wrong, burying tin cans. But this was long before Off bug repellant.
With the metal trash, I was expecting that they would say something about donating to a scrap drive, given the wartime conditions at the time (unless it wasn’t a usable kind, I guess).
As cool as seeing the dwarves again is. Seeing them cover water wirh oil, burying cans and getting rid of water doesnt feel right. But other things they do are right like filling cracks, covering their beds in nets and putting a lid over their water barrel.
It isn’t that stuff Is horrible for the environment but covering the cracks and crevices is a effective way to prevent mosquitoes from reproducing or contracting the malaria virus
I'm not so sure. The movie came out in the early 2000s, but I think it may have taken place during the 50s or 60s because didn't you see in some scenes where they had black and white TVs in the shops, or the kids rode big wheels and Leela had a little record player. Those things weren't from the early 2000s.

I live on a Farm where West Nile is bad, we would cut the weeds in a pond in our backyard where yes lots of “wigglers” are just bobbing on the surface. We sometimes put dish soap or vegetable oil too, however most of the time we let the fish eat them.
It was a bigger problem in the us back in the day, now a days malaria isn’t around in the states but other than that the mosquitoes here are at most a mild annoyance but all around harmless

The CDC successfully eliminated malaria, and now days the vast majority of malaria cases in the US come from people who visit other parts of the world where malaria is common.
