- So originally this wasn't supposed to be sad or edgy, but that's just where the idea evolved to. someone posted a link to a baby goat making baby goat noises and said I should make it into a baby Tubbo animation, I looked at the video and was like, "that is adorable that's a good idea."
Then the other half of my brain was like, "but what if we make it sad?"
Anyway, this isn't cannon as far as I know.

My headcanon is that he was in a small living space with little to no money. Getting evicted. He couldn’t even feed tubbo so he turned to his friend Philza and he took him in as his own.

Here’s my headcanon, I hope you enjoy! 🥳
Schlatt couldn’t afford to take care of Tubbo, so he left Tubbo on Phil’s doorstep (Ghostbur mentions to Fundy that they found Tubbo in a box one day). Schlatt, in his dispair, becomes an alcoholic. Years later, he returns to L’Manburg and stumbles his way into the election. That’s when he finds Tubbo again. He doesn’t want to tell Tubbo that he’s Tubbo’s father, so he keeps quiet and just takes the boy under his wing. He knows he’s a deadbeat dad, and he’s also aware of how power-hungry he is. After Schlatt discovers that his son has been a double agent for Pogtopia, he fears that Tubbo is more like himself than he once thought. In his paranoia, he fears that his own son will try to overthrow him. That’s why he asks Techno to execute to boy. After the festival, Schlatt is having what we can assume is a panic-induced, drunken stroke. He’s lost the rights to his country, which explains his distraught, but perhaps it’s more? Is he regretting ordering the execution of his own son? He looks at Tubbo in the van and wheezes, “Toby, I’m scared of death.” This is the first time Tubbo has ever been called “Toby.” Was that the name _he_ gave Tubbo, perhaps? Tubbo, who’s bitter and traumatized, doesn’t respond. Schlatt dies, and Tubbo laughs. He doesn’t even realize that he’s laughing at the death of his _own father._ Schlatt was just a tyrant to the boy and nothing more. The boy that Schlatt once raised doesn’t even remember the father Schlatt used to be. Tubbo doesn’t remember how loved and looked after he was. All he remembers is waking up in a box one snowy day, opening his eyes to a tall man with a wide-brimmed hat, black wings, and a warm smile.

I love Dad Schlatt but god does it hurt my heart. The idea that he had completely suppressed the memory of Tubbo because he gave him up and didn’t want to feel the heartbreak from not being able to take care of his own child is just so depressing. Again, I love it, but boy does it pull on my poor little heart strings.

I wrote a story based off of this, it's from Schlatt's POV will a little twist, so here you go:
My Son?
"Techno I need- I need you to take him out," I say, Tubbo is corned with walls behind him and to both sides of him.
"No, nono nononono Techno please don't," he pleas
"Tubbo I'm sorry," Techno says as he loads his crossbow with a fire-work, pulling the string back, aiming, and letting go.
A light show of bright red, blue, and white fills the area where Tubbo was a second before, making loud popping sounds. For no reason at all a memory comes to my head, one that I buried deep inside me so I would never have to relive it again.
I was holding my son to my chest as we walked in the woods, he was wrapped in a blanket but I can still make out his features, he has light skin, brown hair, floppy goat ears, and little stubs for horns. His hand reaches out and grabs my finger, a small giggle comes out of him as one of his bright baby blue eyes peaks open.
"I'm sorry, Toby," I say, setting him in a small cardboard box under a big oak tree, "I-I just can't take care of you right now," I let a tear fall down my cheek.
Then I walked away, that was one of the biggest mistakes of my life. Now I stand here looking at the broken form in front of me, who now looks remarkably like the infant from all those years ago the one that I left to die.
I run over to him "Toby..." I say sinking to my knees and holding his head to my chest, before long my shirt is soaked in red "How?"
I let my tears fall as I see the damage that was done on my command, his entire right side is burned and covered in blood.
Because of me.
His breaths are raged and shallow like each of them could be his last.
Because of me.
His eyes which are the same pale blue as when he was a baby began to go dull, and flutter close.
Because of me.
The rising and falling of his chest stops.
Because of me.
His body goes limp and cold.
Because of me.
It’s canon that Schlatt died to a heart attack but I like to think he died of a broken heart when he realised what he’d done to his son.

The emotion in each frame is amazing! Tubbo's dull, dead look at the very end is also extremely well done and chilling. I can feel the crushing tension at the beginning where everything becomes muddled with sound and then suddenly clears. Good work!
i can agree about how he looked when dead sense ive seen dead bodies before, not human but goat. but it looks as real as you can get in animation
It could have either been a dead body, or that Tubbo was barely living and forever scarred, both of which happen in the narrative but the idea of surviving these canon deaths is so yikes for them being either near-immortals or vulnerable but resilient animals/people.

Foolish 'respawning' in the beacon room was always so cool, but it's strange and wonderful to theorize comparing "mortal animals" to their immortal disregard for time, aging, some deaths, and pain while avatars like foolish and hannah stroll about.
For people saying that tubbo was found by dadza at the side of the road. I remember it slightly differently. I remember phil said that it was tommy that found tubbo in the box and brought him back to philza like a kid finding a stray saying "can we keep him?"
I like how this paints schlatt in a light where he wasn’t always evil and when he stopped being able to care for his son he spiraled into a drunken wreck
I headcanon that Tubbo was Schlatt’s child, but when Schlatt realized he didn’t have enough parenting skills to care for Tubbo he left him in a box in the highway where Philza would find him. It’s only when Schlatt sees him again that he realizes it’s his son.

I cant stop watching this on loop. Its so good. I really wish like Schlatt was Tubbo's father cause that would add so much depth and mind fuckery to the lore.
I can just imagine the last scene is Jschlatt in his last moments of this death, realizing everything while hearing screams in the background, before him falling down with everything going black, like the background. You definitely tied in the emotion and the intent of what you wanted to show was beautifully portrayed! I'll be excited to see any future content, if you still plan to do these sorta things

That could be the reason he did not know Tubbo was his kid. He looked only a bit younger but does look like he cared. There are reasons he'd have given Tubbo away, it could have been not wanting to hurt Tubbo with his alcohol issue, Fearing that he couldn't properly care for Tubbo or even feeling like he was too young to properly care for a kid and wanting Tubbo to have better. Those are only if he actually cared about Tubbo when he was born because it certainly looks like he did.

@@Ranny_Cat i would like to correct this if it’s okay, the reason the fanart of Goat Tubbo came about was cause of something someone in the dsmp said, that in the lore, tubbo has horns and ears. Tubbo also confirmed that the ears and horns were canon. However, dadschlat is not canon(also confirmed by tubbo) however the headcanon is interesting

i know nothing about dsmp. i’m not actively involved in the smp community, i don’t really watch any of the involved creators except for a couple on their own, but i always click on the animations and fan content i see for the series. and by god, am i glad i do. this whole thing was fantastic. i know virtually nothing about the stories of any of their characters in the smp, but even without any of that knowledge i could see a story here. an emotional and well-built one.

Oh this is amazing! I always HC that Tubbo was Schlatt's son! But something happened on another server and Schlatt lost his memories or was starting to loose them and didn't want to endanger his son. So, he put him on the side of the road knowing a family that frequent that road. Phil found Tubbo and took him as his foster son.
Schlatt didn't recognize Tubbo at all! He lost his memory completely! That is until he winds up temporally in the Void. Then all of this memories of Tubbo starts to come back. After that, he starts drinking so much b/c he can't live with himself with what he did!

Man, I didn't even realize the depth of this animation until watching it for the fifteenth time. I thought he just had this scene where he freaked out because he unalived his son, I didn't realize that it was him *recognizing* his son. That he just had executed. That hit me right in the heart. Why must you be so good. AAAAA
I love how you make small detail indicate certain things, for instance the version of Schlatt holding baby Tubbo has slightly shorter horns something that not only shows that he's younger but also shows a lack of maturity, a lack of the walls he put up to protect himself from the harsh reality.
Also, while this is going into more head cannon territory I like to imagine that in the afterlife ghost wear clothing that reminds them of the best time of their lives(Ghostbur wearing the sweater that reminds him of the time before all the wars, Tommy wearing a L'manburg uniform because it reminds him of before Schlatt, etc.) So Schlatt wearing the same hoodie he wore before he gave up Tubbo is heartbreaking.

Highkey, this has been my headcanon, too. But, ashamed or angry due to mixed emotions upon realization, he could never admit to Tubbo that he's his father because he didn't want to see how Tubbo would react.

I can’t even explain how much i love this head canon. To the point where the ideals started shifting over. People would put horns on tubbo for the dadschlatt, and then it started fading over to canon. And I don’t think many people realize where that originated from. Even Tubbo seems to like the horns.

I head-cannon that Schlatt was a really great dad to Tubbo as he grew up but the more Schlatt got into politics and business he started to lose himself and become power hungry, thus beginning to neglect his role as a father. so Tubbo would hang with Tommy and his family more but Schlatt still liked having that ownership over Tubbo so every couple days, maybe weeks he would show up to Phils house and demand his son back, cause he liked the control. and thats also why he made him vice president, so he could keep having that control.

Idk if this was intentional but Tubbo as a baby with his eyes half open and then the cut into reality with Tubbo’s eyes half open on the ground hit way harder than I thought it would.

I personally think this would look much more distressing if the camera never turned up so you could see his whole face. It makes him look like a son, less than a person by himself, since you can't fully see his expression and think of him only in reference to what happens in the animation. However, I think that Schlatt looking up and realizing that he did not just kill his son, but someone with a family, friends, and his own goals and aspirations, adds a terrifying touch to this animation. Beautiful work, gorgeous craftsmanship.
And the DETAIL holy crap! Even the length of Shlatt’s horns to show that he’s younger!

Honestly I hc that schlatt is/was his dad depending on if someone would wanna make him tubbos bio dad or adoptive(like maybe he was given him after a relative passed/abandoned/couldn't take care of him either if you wanna go this route) and ended up not being prepared at all for that responsibility for whatever reasons. So he left him in a box where he knew someone would find him and take him in.
Years later he doesn't even recognize tubbo till right after he told techno to fire the firework to take one of his lives. Maybe a noise he made. Maybe something else. Either way when he remembered it was too late. And inevitably the stress of that, realizing who tubbo is, and everything else including the heavy drinking and drug use? His heart couldn't take it.
After Schlatt came back to reality:
Schlatt: I... I... Oh no... what have I done?
Technoblade: Schlatt?
Tubbo: *respawns* WTH SCHLATT?!?!?
Schlatt: *freaks out and runs*
Tubbo: COWARD!!!!
Schlatt: 'I'm sorry. I'm so sorry... Toby.'
The artstyle is fantastic! The way Schlatt only realizes who Tubbo was after the execution was so sad! This is just somehow in a way proof that people only care or remember when you're dead😢
I actually did see a headcanon on the wiki where tubbo is schlatt’s biological son, but due to excessive drinking he was unable to care for him so left him in a box by the side of the road, where the sbi gang picked him up
I'd also like to think that Tubbo being his kid became a repressed memory after falling into bad drinking habits.

Before Wilbur left the writing staff for a while, he specifically asked that there be no good nor bad, only shades of grey. I never really got the chance to see Shlatt as 'grey'. He was a drunk, negletful father and hateful man.
But with THIS in my head canon, my god this was beautiful. Makes you wonder what it is that makes some people just... ...lose their way... ... .

This is a headcannon! It is not cannon who tubbos dad is, but they both have horns and thus this was created. Tubbo was left in a box but schlatt expressed no guilt in commanding tubbo to his death in cannon!

some things i noticed rewatching this one year later: past schlatt has smaller horns. You can see present day schlatt's horns curve almost fully around his ears, but the past version's end behind the ears, showing as time passed, his horns grew. Same with how past!schlatt's hair is parted differently/has a different hair style, and from what i can see he has no facial hair.
another thing is how you can really notice how schlatt realize's the baby is tubbo. walking back, his ears going up a little; it's really fucking cool. The way the facial expressions are drawn is SICK! like oh man my artist brain is vibrating at this
